Chapter 147 Not Sisters Anymore
Erin felt a faint sense of joy upon hearing her mother scold her aunt. She was afraid that Cherry wouldn’t react to anything at all. Her being furious showed that there was still some hope for things to turn around.
Seeing her sister finally saying something, Charlotte’s face also lit up. “You’re right! I deserve to be reprimanded harshly. I was foolish for doing something so disgraceful! But, my dear sister, please! Please don’t take your own life so carelessly! If you really die, my conscience will never find peace in this lifetime.”
Erin frowned as she looked at the sobbing Charlotte, feeling disdainful in her heart. Charlotte seemed decent on the surface, and Erin hadn’t heard of her being involved with any men during the years of her widowhood. But now, she suddenly had an affair with her brother- in–law. It instantly diminished her character and moral integrity.
She couldn’t help but feel a sense of contempt for her aunt, who was also an elder in her family and was supposed to be a role model.
Moreover, Charlotte had truly hurt Cherry and indirectly harmed her and Gavin.
“Charlotte, you have no conscience! Who helped you find a job when you were laid off recently? When you found it too tiring and didn’t want to work, I let you help out at my mart and paid you a monthly salary of three thousand dollars. That isn’t a small amount in Southwrok County! But you go and sleep with my man? Have you no shame, you ungrateful wench?” Cherry started scolding Charlotte
with her eyes all swollen and red.
She remembered last night when she went to deliver supper and saw Grayson and Charlotte bumping uglies in the storage room. It made her sick. At that time, Charlotte and Grayson had only taken off their pants, and they humped away like two mating dogs lying on a

In addition, Cherry was also tired of scolding her. She turned to Erin and said, “Erin, aren’t you filming on set? How did you manage to rush
back? I’m sorry to trouble you with this.”
Erin immediately grabbed one of Cherry’s hands and comforted her, “Mom, what are you saying? We are family! This time you really went too far. How could you attempt to commit suicide like those rash young people? Thankfully, I don’t have a heart condition, otherwise, I
might have died young!”

Her words immediately caused the kneeling Charlotte to protest. “Erin, how can you suggest that Cherry and Grayson go their separate ways? They’ve been together for over a decade. How can you just suggest for them to split?”
She then continued, “Cherry, I’ve only ever done it twice with Grayson. I never had genuine feelings for him, and I never thought of being with him in the long term. Don’t worry, I won’t come to the mart anymore. I’ll find a job for myself, or maybe I’ll just stop working altogether. My daughter, May, might become a big star soon. Then, I can enjoy a comfortable life.”
Charlotte had long stopped shedding tears. From the moment Cherry said she had come to terms with everything, the remaining trace of guilt in her heart vanished. She thought that, after all, they were sisters. They couldn’t possibly sever ties forever because of one man.

Cherry sneered. “Charlotte, you really dream big, don’t you? May has just started acting, and you expect her to become a big star? Being a celebrity isn’t that easy. Even as an assistant to a famous actor, my daughter went through auditions before she could act. How can May, a student at some random university, immediately become a star?”
Erin was a bit speechless by then. How did the sisters end up comparing their daughters?
Upon hearing Cherry criticize her daughter, Charlotte got so angry that she stood up abruptly. As she’d been kneeling for a while, she got up unsteadily and nearly knelt down again. This scene made.Cherry burst into laughter. “Serves you right!”
“You’ve gone too far, Cherry! I admit this is my fault, but leave my daughter out of this! May is still young with endless prospects. But the same can’t be said for your daughter! Erin sighed inwardly. Reality was oftentimes more melodramatic than what one saw on TV. It was supposed to be a tearful apology scene, but it escalated to a family dispute instead.
“Aunt Charlotte, don’t forget that I’m right here, and I can hear everything,” Erin spoke up calmly.
At this point, Charlotte didn’t care about anything anymore. After all, her reputation was already ruined. She retorted, “So what if you’re here? Why does it matter if you heard everything? You and your mother are both the same–you’re both destined for divorce!”
Her words completely riled Cherry up. She grabbed a white porcelain cup from the counter and threw it at Charlotte while shouting, “If you have nothing nice to say, then don’t say anything! You shameless whore! How dare you speak ill of us when you fool around with your sister’s husband? Get out of here right now!”
The cup hit Charlotte’s forehead, causing it to bleed. She touched her forehead and saw the blood but didn’t scream. She responded coldly, “Cherry, I have already kneeled and apologized to you. You’ve insulted me. Now, you’ve injured me too, but I won’t hold it against you. Don’t blame me for everything between you and Grayson. If he were a good man, he wouldn’t have cheated on you behind your back. Our sisterhood ends here. If you die and go to the afterlife, don’t cry to our parents and complain that I’m bullying you! I don’t care for a spineless man like Grayson!”
