Chapter 11
āIā¦ā Darrion felt troubled. Apart from recruiting his own people into the company, he would hand all his work to other shareholders. He had no idea what they had done over the years. He became flustered while Silvia stared at him. He also subconsciously lowered his head with guilt. āMr. Torres, are you unable to answer me or refusing to answer me?ā No matter which option he chose, he would definitely fall into Silviaās trap. Anger crossed his face. āMiss Pond, you know that Iām not good at managing the company. Arenāt you purposely putting me in a tight spot?ā There was a cold glint in Silviaās eyes, but she spoke with a straight face, āMr. Torres, since you realize that youāre not skilled at managing a company, it doesnāt seem appropriate for you to tell me what to do.ā Darrion could not refute her. Meanwhile, Dulcie had a document for Silvia to sign. When she arrived at the office, she saw Darrion storm out. He left without greeting her. She pushed the door open and walked in. When she saw Silvia casually reading some documents, she curiously asked, āWhat did you say to Darrion? He looked upset when he left just now.ā Silvia did not raise her head. She continued reading as she said, āHeās unhappy because I fired his relatives. How can I help you?ā Dulcie handed the document to Silvia and said, āThis contract needs your signature today. Please take a look. If youāre okay with it, please sign it and pass it back to me.ā āPlease ask the HR Department to recruit two secretaries for meāone man and one woman.ā Silvia took the documents and said indifferently. āOkay. Iāll put the HR Department on it now.ā After Silvia read through the document, she found no issues with it. She signed it before she looked at Dulcie and asked, āOh yeah, what is the companyās capital shortfall now?ā Dulcie remained silent for a few seconds and answered with a troubled expression, āAt least fifty million dollars.ā Silvia frowned. āOkay, I got it. You can carry on with your work.ā After Dulcie left, Silvia checked the remaining amount of money that she could use. It was just slightly over fifty million dollars. She called the staff of the Finance Department over. Then, she transferred the fifty million dollars to the company account. āIām loaning this money to the company. The company can pay me back at the end of the year once the dividend is paid,ā she said aloofly. āOkay, Miss Pond.ā After the staff left, Silvia continued reading the other documents. Darrion lost his temper in his office. He could not accept things as they were. He hesitated for a long time before he gave Sigwald Reed a call. āMr. Reed, are you free at noon? Letās have lunch together.ā The moment Sigwald walked into the private room at noon, Darrion stood up and greeted him enthusiastically, āMr. Reed, please have a seat!ā Sigwald was all smiles. After he sat down, he looked at Darrion and said, āMr. Torres, you invited me to have lunch so far away from the company. I guess thereās something really important.ā Darrion had a pleasing smile as he nodded and said, āYou know me so well, Mr. Reed. Youāre probably aware that Miss Pond took action against me this morning, right?ā Sigwald took a sip of coffee before he calmly said, āMr. Torres, that is just Miss Pondās strategic plan for the companyās next phase of development. Itās very normal to fire a few people in the process.ā Besides, Darrionās relatives knew nothing about work and just dawdled around every day. Sigwald did not see a problem with the firing. Darrion chuckled awkwardly. āYouāre right, Mr. Reed. But do you think that Miss Pond will only fire my subordinates?ā Sigwald held the cup more tightly, but he did not answer. Darrion resumed, āMr. Reed, Iāve always thought that you were the most capable among the shareholders. Even if Miss Pond holds the most shares, sheās young and more impulsive. I would prefer to have you manage MY Corporation.ā āWhat are you trying to say?ā āI heard that Miss Pond has been contacting Mr. Walls from Denson Corporation, but she hasnāt been able to secure the deal. Since youāre so capable, you must be able to help MY Corporation sign a contract with Denson Corporation. What do you think, Mr. Reed?ā Sigwald remained silent for a while before he said, āLet me think about it.ā ⦠When night came, Silvia punched out and returned to her mansion in North City. However, she was stopped by Neil. He looked down at her with arrogance and rage-filled eyes. āSilvia Pond, even if youāre trying to make a fuss, there should be a limit! Youāre staying in another manās house every day. Donāt you care about the reputation of the Pond Family and Remus Family?ā Silvia sneered. āHow shameless are you to say that to me? When you and Ada dated in our house, did you consider our familiesā reputation?ā Neilās eyes were full of annoyance. āIāve told you that nothing ever happened between Ada and me!ā āYour relationship status is none of my business. Weāre getting a divorce, anyway.ā āI already tore up the divorce papers. Iāll just think of it as something you said in a moment of anger. Come back with me now. Iāll pretend as if nothing happened.ā Silvia frowned. āNeil Remus, why are you refusing to divorce me? Have you fallen for me?ā When Neil heard this, his expression was cold. He gave her a scornful look. āDo you think thatās possible?ā āSince itās impossible, stop wasting my time. We should split up as soon as possible while Iām still young. That way, I can find another man.ā When Neil saw her impatience, he expressed his displeasure and subconsciously frowned. āAre you still thinking about finding another man?ā āWhy not?ā Silvia looked at him with disinterest. āWhatās the difference between staying with you and being a widow? Iām going to find my own happiness.ā Neil was speechless. Anger instantly consumed him. He could not hold it back no matter what. He was sure that he did not love Silvia, yet she could easily trigger his irrational anger. Clearly displeased, he said through his gritted teeth, āItās possible for you to divorce me. But youāll have to pay me for wasting my youth on you for the past few years!ā Silvia was totally baffled. Neil saw how Silvia was staring at him like he was insane. āIf you can give me a compensation of fifty million dollars, Iāll agree to the divorce,ā he said coldly. Silvia remained silent for a few seconds before she looked at Neil with a serious expression. āAre you sure that youāll divorce me if I pay you fifty million dollars?ā āYes, but you canāt use the money that I gave you.ā Silvia had lived with the Remus Family these past few years. When she married Neil, he gave her a black card with unlimited spending, but she never used it. On his birthdays, she would hand make his gifts, so Neil thought that she would not be able to produce so much money. Silvia remained silent for a few seconds before she nodded and said, āOkay, Iām fine with it.ā āIām only giving you a week. If you canāt pay me fifty million dollars in a week, donāt even mention the divorce again!ā Silvia frowned. āNeil Remus, isnāt your condition too harsh?ā Neil scoffed. āYouāre the one who asked for the divorce. Now that Iām giving you a chance, youāre unhappy. Silvia Pond, I wonder if youāre playing hard to get.ā Silvia rolled her eyes. āOne week then. Can you get out of here now?ā she said curtly. When Neil saw the annoyance in her eyes, he added, āBefore we divorce, you have to move back in.ā āNeil Remus, donāt push it!ā
