She hesitated to speak.
Upon seeing the mockery hidden in their eyes, Jacey said, “Because Oliver is the big boss behind Palm Restaurant. Didn’t Allen ever mention this to you?”
Mira chuckled, “My brother–in–law has always been low–key, rarely showing off these things in front of my sister. What my sister values is nothing more than the person my brother–in–law is.”
Jacey glanced at Paige, “Your sister is lucky. Given her background, it’s an honor for her to marry Allen.”
“So you’re implying my sister married up?” Mira retorted sarcastically, “My sister is young and has never been married before. It should be my brother–in-law who is the lucky one.”
“How could it not be considered marrying up? The Duncan family is a huge fortune in Svallion City. Although Allen’s father is not the chairman of the Forest Group, he still holds shares. Besides, Allen has been a favored child since he was young. If you could marry Allen, you would at least struggle less for several generations.”
The words Jacey retorted undoubtedly stirred up a tremendous wave in the hearts of Paige and Mira.
Mira even gasped.
Well, I didn’t expect Allen to have this identity.
Ah, Forest Group. Even she, who didn’t pay much attention to economic news, knew about it. Forest Group was a renowned clothing
company in the country, owning six or seven brands that had opened over ten thousand branches nationwide. They had everything, from children’s clothing to men’s and women’s clothing.
She had previously thought that Allen came from a well–educated family.
Moreover, Allen had never mentioned it to his sister at all.
She glanced at Paige, who was suddenly lost in thought next to her, and immediately held down Paige’s hand under the table.
Paige snapped back to reality immediately, she couldn’t let these people realize that she, as a wife, knew nothing. Otherwise, she would become a laughingstock.
“Alright, Mira, stop talking. It’s true, I did marry up with Allen,” Paige managed to squeeze out a smile, signaling Mira to stop.
“What’s all this about punching above one’s weight?” Oliver said with a frown of disbelief, “My dad is the chairman of Forest Group, and I don’t think I’m anything special.”
“You’re right.” Chad advised warmly, holding his teacup, “Both of you, Ms. Boyles, are excellent, and you’re still young, with infinite possibilities.”
“I agree too,” Mira concurred, exchanging a smile with Chad. A loud thud echoed as a teacup was heavily set down on the table.
Hugh lazily squinted his eyes and asked in a dismissive tone, “Have you ordered yet? I’m almost full from drinking tea.”
“No, let’s order,” Chad took the menu from the waiter’s hand. He didn’t order, but politely passed the menu to Paige first, “Ladies first.”
“Thank you.” Paige was somewhat distracted, she tried hard to pull
herself together, but after a long day, she didn’t have the energy to order a dish.
Jacey saw it and just assumed she was inexperienced, probably never having seen such expensive dishes before. “You can order the abalone and bluefin tuna, they’re both good. Also, the filet mignon with foie gras, Hugh loves it.”
Paige simply pushed the menu over, “Ms. Tyler, you should come here often, why don’t you order? You’re more familiar with this place.”
Jacey didn’t resist either, ordering more than ten dishes. Zackary clicked his tongue, “Hugh, look at how deeply Jacey cares for you. Out of twelve dishes, five are your favorites.”
Jacey’s pretty face blushed shyly.
Hugh, with his attractive phoenix eyes, looked at Zackary, “Eat more later.”
“Thank you, Hugh…”
Hugh added another sentence: “Choked to death, I attended the funeral.”
Zackary: “……….
