Married in Nmae only : Shall We Part Ways Today ? Novel Chapter 34

Chapter 34
“Mom…” Paige frowned. “You promised me.
Mariah replied irritably, “I really don’t understand what they did to you. You’re my daughter! Is it necessary to be sisters with the daughter of a poor woman? The Jordan family has plenty of siblings.”
Mira clenched her fists.
Paige was angry. “For so many years, you’ve been busy with your own career, and Dad hasn’t been around much either. Mira has been the one here for me. I won’t allow you to speak about her like that.
“You ingrate!” Mariah said with anger. “Your grandmother and I did everything to ensure you could marry into the Leopold family. But you chose to marry a divorced man. Look at Mira. Now, with your identity, she’s become the second daughter-in-law of the Leopold family. If you could do better, such a good opportunity wouldn’t have been taken by her.”
After a pause, she turned to Mira and said, “Hugh is awake now. When are you going to get a divorce? You don’t plan on holding onto your status as his wife, do you? The Leopold family married you out of consideration for the Jordan family’s reputation. If you get in trouble with the Leopold family as everything is exposed, don’t get us involved.”
“I want to divorce too, but Mr. Leopold doesn’t agree.”
Mira replied impatiently, “Mariah, it’s not like I insisted on marrying into the Leopold family. Back then, everyone thought Hugh was going to die, and you didn’t want Paige to marry him either. Now that Hugh has woken up, you’re getting jealous. Don’t be so shameless.”

“You…”
Odin h o nked the horn.
As Odin saw his ex-wife, his eyes sparkled with a hint of emotion.
He had met Mariah by chance during a work-related collaboration. Mariah came from a well-off family, and it had taken him a lot of effort to win her over initially. Later, with the support of the Jordan family, he established his own company in Svallion City and achieved success
in his career.
However, after marriage, Mariah’s dominant personality became too much for him to handle. He couldn’t help but long for his first love, Elle. She was so gentle and virtuous.
Later, he married Elle, and initially, their life together was quite enjoyable. However, as time went on, he began to realize that Elle lacked depth. She spent most of her time in the kitchen, and her daughter wasn’t obedient. Moreover, Elle’s relatives were all poor and couldn’t have places in high society.
In addition to that, Elle didn’t know how to dress up and looked like a houseworker. Odin found their relationship increasingly boring.
On the contrary, his ex-wife was fashionable and beautiful, exuding elegance in every move, much better than Elle. They had common topics of conversation related to work. Odin couldn’t help but regret why he had divorced Mariah in the first place.
“Mariah, long time no see. What were you talking about? You look quite annoyed. Did Mira do something to anger you?”
After greeting Mariah with a smiling face, Odin turned to Mira and said sternly, “Mira, it’s fine that you argue with me at home, but you gotta show some respect to Mariah here. Don’t let others say you have
no manners.”
Mira felt sorry for her mother when she saw his attitude.
Paige quickly said, “Dad, Mira didn’t…”
“Odin, Mariah looks beautiful, doesn’t she?” Mira suddenly interrupted Paige with a forced smile. “After you got out of the car earlier, you couldn’t take your eyes off Mariah.’
Mariah felt disgusted, and Odin’s expression darkened as he scolded, “What nonsense are you talking about?”
“Did I say anything wrong? Weren’t you just thinking that Mariah looks much younger than my mom even though she’s older? My mom just cooks and does housework every day, like a houseworker. You just wish you hadn’t divorced back then.”
Odin’s heart ski pped a beat.
He thought, “This brat. How did she know what I was thinking?
“Don’t know how a woman like Elle could give birth to a daughter with so many schemes. It must have been influenced by her alcoholic father.”
“Mira, keep talking nonsense and you’ll see what happens!”
