Given Kendric’s uncompromising personality, it’s unbearable for him to
accept Celeste’s disobedience. And if they end up having a showdown, he might
resort to who knows what tactics. This isn’t the first time something like this
has happened.
Back during her second year, Celeste didn’t inform Kendric when she was
heading out for a camping. Even though it was just a two–night stay elsewhere,
it still pissed him off. When she came back, he forcibly grounded her at home
for the entire summer vacation. Even when her dad dropped by, he refused to
let them meet.
After all these years, Celeste’s picked up on his quirks and knows which
buttons not to push. For instance, leaving home without giving him a heads–up.
is a must–not–to–do.
Sienna chimes in. “how about I call my brother and have him chat with
Kendric?”
Kendric and Manuel Vader are around the same age and both big shots in
their own domains. They don’t really hang out together, but they do have met
several times before.
Celeste firmly shook her head, “getting your brother involved in this kind of
thing would be pretty awkward for me.”
She preferred to leave this thing only between her and Kendric.
“Alright, if you’re set on leaving alone… just be safe. If anything comes up,
make sure to call me. I think my dad and brother can still have your back.”
Celeste her another hug, “I’ll lay low for a while and won’t get in touch

during this time. Once I’ve settled in, I’ll call you.”
Sienna let out a sob, “promise you’ll call me!”
“Don’t cry, we’ll still be in touch.”
Sienna angrily launched into a tirade against Kendric. “What a jerk he is!
Why is he pushing you like this? Next time I see him, I’m gonna kick his ass.”
Celeste chuckled. “is it possible for you to take him on?”
“Perhaps I can’t, but I’ll have my brother rough him up!”
Celeste felt a bit uneasy. The reason she didn’t want to take Sienna along
was that she didn’t want Vader family to get caught up in this mess. It would
make her feel guilty.
“Don’t bring this thing up to your family, Sienna.”
Sienna blinked her eye, “you’re my best friend. I can’t just stand by and do
nothing!”
Celeste worried that Sienna would act on impulse.
“I heard your brother will soon be promoted to the captain.”
Surely, Sienna’s attention shifted. “Really? How come I didn’t know?”
Celeste nodded. “That’s true, so you must promise not to trouble him with
these trifles, okay?”
Sienna reluctantly nodded.
She stayed with Celeste at the airport until it was almost time to board.
Then she left with a heavy heart.

After Sienna left, Celeste also exited the airport and hailed a cab to the
nearby coach station.
There were many private cars offering rides near the bus station, some for
long trips and some for shorter ones. You didn’t need to show an ID to buy a
ticket, just hand over the cash.
Celeste strolled around outside the station for a while, making sure no one was tailing her, and then picked a car to get in.
She wasn’t heading to a western city, she wasn’t catching a flight, and she wasn’t even planning to leave this state.
Once Kendric found her absence from the apartment, he’d surely try to go through all her airport records and so on.
Inside the car, Celeste took a cold medicine from her bag, swallowed it with some water, and then drifted off to sleep.
It’s on the third day that Kendric discovered Celeste’s missing.
On the third day morning, Kendric stuck to his precise daily routine and got up early. This guy was all about discipline in his life. Apart from work, perhaps his leisure activity was going on business trips.
The assistants‘ work hours followed his schedule. Luke wore a tried face with dark circles under his eyes. He greeted Mary, who had come to report on
work.
“Morning, Mary!”
Mary, dressed in her professional attire with tasteful makeup, looked

energetic, and you wouldn’t guess she was at her forties.
She glanced upstairs, “where’s Mr. Melville?”
Luke pointed outside, “he’s out there watering the plants!”
Mary shifted her gaze to the garden. Indeed, under the sunlight, Kendric
stood in the yard, watering several potted flowers.
Mary stared for a moment and vaguely remembered that those plants seemed to her gift for Celeste. It had been years ago. Back then, Celeste sent Mary a Gucci bracelet, and in return, Mary had casually handed her a few potted plants.
She never expected that Celeste would really cherish these plants, and they were still alive and thriving.
Mary had a strange feeling in her heart. Those potted plants were a cheap gift. At the time, she believed the rumors that Celeste was a gold digger, so she used this cheap gift to humiliate her…
On this slightly chilly morning in early spring, Kendric wore a light gray casual outfit. He’d thrown on a thin hoodie, which made him look even more approachable than usual.
He watered the plants, but his mind was wandering somewhere else entirely.
During breakfast, he casually glanced outside and noticed these pots of flowers. He knew Celeste cherished them. Whether it was an attempt to win her over or perhaps out of guilty, he came to water them after finishing his
breakfast.
He refilled another can of water.
“Mr. Melville, those flowers don’t need that much water all at once,” Mary
hurriedly stopped him.
He paused, “oh, really?”
Mary nodded, about to hand him the meeting documents she had in her hand. But to her surprise, Kendric put down the watering can and picked up a piece of cloth from nearby, delicately wiping the leaves.
