Caroline returned to her senses and also saw Sean’s name on Gwen’s phone.
“Gwen, you should answer the phone. I really don’t want to talk to Kirk right now.”
“Okay.” Gwen walked to the balcony and answered the phone.

When the call connected, she heard Sean’s gentle voice, “Why did you take so long to answer the
phone?”
Gwen glanced at Caroline, who was lying lifelessly on the bed, and felt annoyed. “Is something the
matter?”
Realizing that Gwen’s tone sounded unfriendly, Sean was stunned.
He quickly glanced at Kirk and lowered his voice, “Isn’t Caroline with you?”
Gwen blinked. “She’s in the bathroom. What’s wrong?”
Sean sighed, “Then, it’s fine. When she comes out, ask her to call Kirk back. He misses her after
not seeing her for a while.”
Gwen felt uncomfortable and quickly hung up the phone.
Sean didn’t know what had happened. He thought Gwen was angry with him, so he felt aggrieved.
“What did she say?” Kirk asked.
“Oh, she said that Carolíne went to the bathroom. I told you everything is fine.”

Meanwhile, Gwen ended the call and opened the balcony door to walk back into the room.
She felt distressed to see Caroline, who was still sitting on the bed. She stepped forward and hugged Caroline. “Oh, Carol…”
Caroline buried her head in Gwen’s arms. She braced herself to ask, “Did he ask me to call Kirk
back?”
“Yeah.”
Caroline buried her head in Gwen’s arms again. Finally getting a little warmth, she said despondently, “Gwen, do you think he’s really SY Group’s president?”
Gwen’s heart fell apart when she heard Caroline’s question. She understood what Caroline was
thinking.
Her relationship with Kirk was so sincere. Her feelings for him were so intense that she didn’t want to believe that he would lie to her.
She couldn’t accept the fact that he had deceived her.
Besides, Kirk was still a Morrison. Therefore, she held on to the little hope she had, hoping to get a
negative answer from an outsider.
“To be honest, Carol, I don’t know, but …”
Gwen lowered her head. “I–If he is, what will you do?”
Caroline pressed her temples and shook her head in confusion. She didn’t know what to do.
Since they had been through so much, she still felt that Kirk wouldn’t deceive her.
Even during that ridiculous ordeal with Daphne, she had still believed him. That was because she
felt he wouldn’t lie to her. But…
If he really wss Eddy’s second uncle, that meant he had been deceiving her from the moment they
had gotten married.
There was no point in being in a marriage filled with lies.
