Chapter 9 Brush Past Each Other

Elvia returned to her bedroom and walked to the window with a serious look on her face. Thinking of the little girl she had just saved at the entrance of the mall, she frowned tightly. She could tell at a glance that the girl had been poisoned, and the poison, which was developed by her mother, was extremely powerful. It would cause pustules and sores on her face. Before Elvia’s mother died, someone had come to her, and the poison formula had been taken away. It took Elvia many years to develop the antidote to this poison. Elvia’s fair fingers rested on the window, tapping slowly. The girl didn’t have much time to live now. Elvia wondered who had taken away the poison formula back then and why they had harmed such a small child. Suddenly, Elvia’s fingers paused. She pulled out her phone and called Rowland. “Find out which hospital received a girl with an ugly face around five years old today.” Rowland said okay and hung up. Elvia leaned against the window with the phone in her hand and waited in silence. About half an hour later, Rowland’s call came through. “She’s now in the VIP ward of Banyan Hospital’s internal medicine department.” “Okay, I see.” Two days later. In front of Banyan Hospital. Elvia got out of the cab and went into the hospital. At the same time, a black car brushed past her. Henry’s eyes fell on the rearview mirror and saw Elvia at a glance. His eyes narrowed. “Stop the car!” Maverick braked sharply, inertia causing the three of them to lurch forward. Maverick turned around to inquire, “Mr. Bradshaw, what’s wrong?” Henry ignored him. Without letting Maverick carry the wheelchair out, he pushed open the door and got out of the car. He scanned the crowd for the figure, yet he found nothing. Arthur got out of the car, walked up to him, and asked, “What happened?” Henry narrowed his eyes and withdrew his gaze. “Nothing. Let’s go.” Meanwhile. Elvia entered the hospital and went directly to the VIP ward of the internal medicine department. She stood at the entrance of the ward and saw the little girl at a glance. The girl had taken the pill from Elvia. She obviously looked much better. Elvia’s hand rested on the door handle as she pondered whether to go in or not. This was the hardest decision she had ever had to make in her entire life. If she interfered in this matter, she would probably expose herself. Her mother’s matter involved so many people that she had to make sure that nothing was wrong. But when she thought of the little girl’s clear and bright eyes, she hesitated. If ten years ago, someone had helped her, she wouldn’t have watched her mother die in front of her. She didn’t want the same thing to happen to a five-year-old girl. Just as she hesitated, the ward door opened. “You’re here. Did you come to see me?” Heather blinked her clear eyes and grabbed Elvia’s hand in delight. Heather had just seen a woman standing outside the ward, and the woman looked like the lady who had saved her, so Heather rushed out and was surprised. Elvia looked down at the small hand that was grasping hers and met Heather’s clear eyes. The deepest part of her heart inexplicably melted. She smiled slightly, “Yes, I came to see you.” “I knew you’d come.” Heather held Elvia’s hand and said excitedly, “Let’s go in.” Elvia was tugged by her and subconsciously went into the ward. Tanya was surprised to see Elvia. “Ms. Gilmore?” Elvia nodded. “I’m here to run some errands. I saw you guys in the ward.” Tanya hurriedly poured Elvia a glass of water. “Have a seat.” Elvia nodded and said to Heather, “Let me take a look at you.” Heather smiled and nodded. “Okay.” She looked so well-behaved that Tanya widened her eyes. Heather didn’t like to have doctors examine her. When Henry was around, she would be obedient, but as long as Henry wasn’t around, no one could touch her. This time she actually took the initiative to give her hand to Elvia. And she was so submissive. If Tanya hadn’t seen it with her own eyes, she would have thought it was an illusion. Elvia rested her hand on Heather’s wrist, taking her pulse. After a few moments, Elvia frowned, her expression ugly. Although Heather had taken her pills, the poison had invaded Heather’s organs. The toxins were reduced, but her damaged organs were still failing, making it a bit troublesome to cure her. Tanya’s heart thumped. She hurriedly asked, “Ms. Gilmore, is Ms. Bradshaw all right?” Elvia glanced at Heather and pursed her lips. She then touched Heather’s head and said softly, “I can cure you, but it will be a bit painful. Are you afraid?” “Really?” Heather’s eyes brightened. “Can my face become pretty again?” “Yes.” “Then I’m not afraid!” Heather’s face was serious. “As long as I have you around me, I’m not afraid.” Elvia smiled, “Okay, but I have a request. You can’t tell anyone about me healing you, not even your family.” It was always right to be cautious. “No problem,” Heather assured Elvia, patting her own chest. Elvia then looked at Tanya and said, “What about you?” Tanya was in a bit of a bind. She was just a maid, so she wouldn’t dare trifle with something this big. “She’s okay with it too,” Heather said. “Ms…” Tanya wanted to say something, but Heather suddenly burst into tears. “Tanya, I get called ugly every day. I have no friends, and I can’t go to school. I’m so sad…” Tanya was shocked by her tears and hurriedly said, “Don’t cry. I’ll promise Ms. Gilmore.” Getting her response, Elvia nodded. “Okay, then starting tomorrow, I’ll treat you.” Elvia told them her phone number and left. In a private villa. Henry had just entered the door when a mournful cry rang out. “Marilyn, why is my life so bitter? I managed to find a wife for your grandson, but he’s useless. He scared her away… “Poor me! I’m still worrying about his marriage at this age. “I can’t live any longer, so hurry up and take me away.” Henry watched Wilbert make a scene in the living room, his head throbbing. He pinched his brow and said resignedly, “Grandpa! It was Ms. Gilmore who broke off the engagement.” As the words came out, Wilbert wailed, “Marilyn, look at this unfilial grandson! He’s going to make me break my word! I promised Paloma that I would let this kid marry Ms. Gilmore, but this brat wants to make me back out.” “What can I do? I won’t have the face to see Paloma in heaven.” Henry leaned on the wheelchair and inhaled heavily. Maverick and Arthur behind him did not dare to say a word. They knew Wilbert well. If they chimed in, they would be screwed by Wilbert. “Stop messing around! Say your purpose.” Henry was vexed. “Go with me to the Gilmore’s home to propose marriage!” Wilbert got up so fast that Arthur and Maverick were amazed. Henry was speechless. What could he say?
