Chapter 6 I’ll Buy You a House
Diana sat on the sofa in the living room and watched Leonel and the others pack their stuff. Leonel glanced at Diana. Without saying anything, he went to the bedroom with Jessica and Elvia to pack their things. As soon as they entered the bedroom, Kirsten followed in. Kirsten looked at the simple bedroom, a hint of disdain flashing in her eyes. Soon, Kirsten concealed the expression in her eyes and said gently, “Dad, are you really moving out? You are not paid well. How are you going to support the family? Where are you going to live? You should listen to Grandma.” Leonel looked back at Kirsten but didn’t say anything. Seeing that Leonel didn’t respond, Kirsten looked at Elvia and said, “Elvia, Dad has paid a heavy price over the years to find you. Now that you’re back, can you bear to let him sleep on the streets?” Elvia looked up slightly, a half-smile appearing on her cold face. “It’s good to marry Mr. Bradshaw. At least, your future life will be secure. If it were me, I would not let my father be estranged from his own family for my sake,” Kirsten said to herself. Elvia’s lips curled up. With her arms crossed, she looked at Kirsten with interest. “Since you’re so understanding, why don’t you marry him? The Gilmore family has provided for you for so many years. Shouldn’t you repay them?” Kirsten’s face changed. While cursing Elvia inwardly, she maintained a smile on her face. “But it’s you who has the engagement with Mr. Bradshaw!” Elvia sneered. For some reason, Kirsten felt a sense of panic. Before Elvia could speak, Kirsten continued, “Since you’re so determined, I won’t say much. Dad, Grandma said that if you don’t finish packing in an hour, she’ll have someone throw your things out!” “I know,” Leonel didn’t want to say more. Seeing this, Kirsten had no choice but to go to the living room. After she left, Leonel looked at the room full of things, feeling a bit worried. “There are so many things. We won’t be able to finish packing in an hour. Should I call movers?” Jessica nodded. “Okay, that will be quicker.” Elvia watched them bustle around, and a hint of tenderness rose deep inside her. Besides her mother and master, only they would protect her like this. Elvia pressed her lips and spoke slowly, “Just bring some useful things. I have some money, and I’ll buy a fully furnished house later. We can buy the rest of the things for the new house.” “How can we do that?” Jessica immediately objected. “You just returned. How can we use your money? Although Banyan City is not as developed as first and second-tier cities, the property prices are high. Even a small two-bedroom apartment costs hundreds of thousands of dollars. Don’t worry about the house. Let’s rent a furnished one for now and deal with the current difficulties.” “Yes, Elvia, keep the money you earned for yourself. You don’t need to worry about family matters,” Leonel said with relief. Elvia had endured a lot since childhood. She earned a small amount of money from working, but she was willing to spend it on them, so they were deeply moved. “The money for buying a house…” Elvia was about to say that there was enough money for a house, but Leonel interrupted, “Elvia is right. Let’s just take our clothes and documents along with us. We can rent a furnished house.” “Okay!” Elvia didn’t say anything further and went to her room to pack. She didn’t have much stuff, just a few outfits and her computer and phone. So, Elvia quickly was done. She glanced at the adjacent room where Leonel and Jessica stayed, and her gaze softened. Then she took out her phone and sent a message. In the living room… Diana was waiting for Leonel’s family to compromise with her. But unexpectedly, after a while, they came out with their luggage. Each of them carried a suitcase and walked out of the hall, leaving behind the rest of their stuff. Diana stood up abruptly, her face turning pale with anger. “Fine! You are impressive! I want to see how you can survive in Banyan City without my support.” Leonel only glanced back at Diana and left in silence. After leaving the community, Leonel looked at the bustling street and sighed softly, “Let’s find a hotel for now and make do for a day. I’ll go look for a house.” Elvia nodded and followed them into a nearby hotel. Three hours later, Leonel returned with a dejected look. Jessica immediately came over and asked, “How is it? Did you find a house?” Leonel shook his head. “I found three suitable houses at a price I can afford. But when it came to signing the contract, they refused to rent to me after seeing my ID card. I asked for the reason and found out that my mom had made a statement. Anyone who rents a house to me will be going against the Gilmore family.” Diana had some influence in Banyan City. With her statement, no one would be willing to rent a house to Leonel. Leonel angrily pounded the table. “My mom is forcing me into a dead end!” Jessica didn’t expect Diana to be so ruthless and didn’t know what to say for a moment. Elvia served a glass of water for Leonel. “Have some water first. Don’t worry. Someone will rent a house to us.” Leonel sighed, “I hope so. I’m sorry to put you in such a suffering situation.” After taking a rest, Leonel didn’t give up and planned to go out again to continue looking for a house. Just as he got up, someone knocked on the door. Leonel opened the door. Seeing the person who came, he was stunned, “Mr. Smith?” Leal Smith was a real estate agent. How did he find this place? “Mr. Gilmore, hello!” Leal said with a smile on his face. “Well, I saw the address you left in the information, so I came over.” Leonel was puzzled. Did he ever fill out any information? But he couldn’t remember it. Leonel didn’t dwell on it and said, “What’s the matter?” “Well, there is a well-decorated house in Rellyward Community, with four bedrooms and two living rooms. The monthly rent is 80 dollars. It suits you well, so I want to ask for your opinion.” Upon hearing this, Leonel and Jessica widened their eyes. Rellyward Community? A well-decorated house with four bedrooms and two living rooms? Heavens! This was the best community in Banyan City aside from the villa area. The residents there were all incredibly wealthy. A small two-bedroom apartment alone would cost 800 thousand dollars, not to mention a four-bedroom one, which would be over millions of dollars. Jessica was the first to react and immediately pulled Leonel aside. “How can such a good thing happen to us? Could it be a scheme set up by your mom?” Upon hearing it, Leal explained, “Mrs. Gilmore, you’ve misunderstood. This house is being rented at such a low price because the owner wants to settle abroad and is looking for a tidy person to take care of the house. After seeing your family’s information, he was very satisfied, so he offered this price. If you don’t want to rent it, then I will…” “Yes, we do!” Leonel interrupted Leal immediately. “We’ll sign the contract right now!”
