Chapter 16
“What necklace?”
“The one Jacey brought me. Hillbilly, give me back the necklace right now! That necklace is worth 830 thousand dollars.”
Sylvia said while rummaging through the desk in front of Mira.
She presumed that Mira had brought the necklace up and tried it on secretly.
Mira was confused. “What necklace? I didn’t even see it.”
“Drop the act. It was in the box on the coffee table, and you were the only one there. Who else would it be?”
Sylvia said exasperatedly, “It doesn’t belong to you! Taking it away before asking others is stealing.”
“I told you that I didn’t. I’m not lying!” Mira was irritated by the repeated slander.
“You just won’t admit it, will you?”
Sylvia didn’t believe her at all. “Lindsay, search her suitcase. She must have hidden it somewhere.”
Lindsay didn’t dare to act recklessly, yet Sylvia had already started to search.
Lindsay could only follow.
Sylvia quickly found Mira’s suitcase. She quickly opened the suitcase and threw Mira’s clothes and other things on the floor, whining. “What Kind of garbage is this?”
The scene severely hurt Mira’s pride.
She rushed over.
Then she pushed Sylvia to the side hard.
Sylvia was pushed to the floor. When she came back to her senses, she was shocked, “Mira, how you dare hit me!”
Furious, she got up and came at Mira.
“Who said you got to go through my stuff without my permission?”
Mira’s face was scratched by Sylvia, and she grabbed Sylvia’s long hair, not to be outdone,
They grappled with each other.
The scene stunned Lindsay,
“Lindsay, what are you waiting for? Help me! Don’t you forget that I’m the eldest daughter–in–law of the Leopold family/Imight fire you!”
Sylvie had never been so humiliated, or to be more precise, she had never been in a fight in her life.
Yet her pride and the character of never admitting defeat left her no choice but to desperately fight with Mira,
She figured that Mwa was easy to handle, as Mira was $0 pelle Yet to her surprise, Mira had a lot of strength
Lindsay gutted her teeth and rushed over to help Sylvia
Lindsay didn’t want to offend any of them, yet clearly, Mira was a nobody in the Leopold family
Mira didn’t want to be ruthless, but she was one against two, so she had to kick Lindsay away and jump on Sylvia.
Lindsay rushed over and pulled Mira’s hair.
Brenden and Taryn just got back. Hearing the great noises, they came upstairs at once and saw the three fighting.
“Stop it! All of you!”
Brenden roared angrily.
They stopped at once.
Sylvia had never been hit like this before, and she burst into tears. “Mom, Dad, you’re back. Mira tried to kill me! Help me!”
“Mira, are you crazy?” Taryn was furious.
After all, Sylvia had lived under her roof for more than 20 years, and Sylvia had been good at pleasing her and Brenden. They had already regarded Sylvia as a daughter.
Seeing Sylvia being beaten so harshly, Taryn was utterly disappointed in Mira.
Mira was glad that she had never expected anything from

these people.
She let go of Sylvia.
Sylvia immediately got up and went toward Taryn, crying and complaining.
“Dad, Mom, Jacey came here today. Mom, Jacey brought me a necklace and you a watch from abroad. I sent her off, and by the time I came back, the necklace had gone missing already. When I left, Mira was the only one in the living room. The necklace is worth 830 thousand dollars. Who else could it be? I asked her to give it back, and she hit me!”
“Mira, you’re so presumptuous! How dare you steal from us? Give us the necklace back!” Taryn snapped in a warning.
It was a hot day, but Mira felt cold. “Do you have any proof that I stole the necklace?”
“Who else could it be?”
Sylvia pointed at Mira’s nose and said angrily, “Only you, me, and Lindsay were at home today. Lindsay has been working for us for over a decade. She won’t touch anything in the living room no matter how valuable it is. And as soon as you’re here, my necklace is gone? I’m sure it’s you! You’ve never seen such a beautiful and luxurious necklace, so you just grabbed it.”
Taryn nodded. She knew Lindsay well. “Mira, it belongs to Sylvia. Also, who teaches you to steal?”
“Mom, you have no idea. When I wanted to go through her suitcase, she hit me! She was dearly guilty!” Sylvia went on seeing that Taryn was on her side.
Mira looked at Brenden. ‘Ded, do you think I stole it, too?”
Brenden frowned, pondered seriously for a while, and then said, “If you like necklaces, I can take you to buy one someday. Mira, as long as you take it back, we will forgive you, considering it’s your first time.”
Mira sneered.
She felt that she had heard a joke.
Brenden had been protecting her, and she thought he was nice.
Yet it turned out that he despised her deep down as well.
Mira wiped tears of laughter from the corners of her eyes. “It only came to me today that in this family, whoever is the poorest and has the lowest status is the criminal.”
“Mira…” Brenden turned more serious.
“Am I wrong? You think I’ve never seen such an expensive necklace, so you suspect at once that I took the necklace, and you even rummaged through my suitcase, just because you wanted to. Even a cop needs permission to go through someone’s personal belongings. Yet things are different in the Leopold’s home…”
Mira took a deep breath. She had a sweet face, but at this moment, there was a sharp, angry light in her eyes. “Is the

Leopold family above the law?”
Brenden’s expression changed greatly.
Taryn trembled with anger. “Enough! I’ve never seen someone as stubborn as you! I used to think that no matter how poor your family was, at least Hugh woke up because of you. Yet now, I don’t think we can tolerate you given your personality.”
Seeing that, Sylvia quickly said, “Take out the necklace and get the heck out of here!”
