Evelyn raised her head to look at him and then shook her head, frowning. “No.”
She did not know the reason. But she did not want to let him know that she had saved her.
It was like that she was angry because he did not recognize her.
“Okay.” Eric was not upset as he had foreseen her reaction. He just wanted to have a try.
“Perhaps you should insist, and I’ll tell you then.” Evelyn put the pizza into the toaster and stared at him.
“Will you tell me if I ask now?” Eric asked.
Evelyn shook her head. “It’s too late.”
Eric was stunned, thinking he should have known it.
“No woman will be willing to marry you as you’re not smart.” Evelyn shook her head.
“But I’ve married. And you’re my wife.” Eric curled up his lips and teased. Evelyn frowned, looking hesitant.
Then she put on a smile and said honestly. “Because I was dumped at that time. Will you take the explanation?”
“Yes. But I’m hurt. I thought you marry me because of my attractive face.” Eric seemed to mean it seriously as he looked sad.
“Face?” Evelyn stared at his face seriously and then nodded. “It’s indeed attractive. But I don’t mind that.”
Eric did not know how to react. “I should not fancy about your compliments.”
“Of course. I won’t admire people easily.” With that, Evelyn opened the roaster and took the pizza out.
She was glad to have a roaster so that the pizza could be well-cooked. “I see it.” Eric tried to help when she took the pizza out, yet he did not know what he was supposed to do. Finally, he gave up.
“Tomato sauce or sweet and spi cy sauce?” Evelyn ignored him again and said to herself.

“Which one do you like?” Eric asked curiously.
He wanted to know her more.
“Sweet and spi cy sauce.” Evelyn put the sauce on the pizza and then realized that she had forgotten to put the cucumber in.
She had never forgotten that before.
She thought she must have been distracted by Eric.
“The same as you.” Eric did not have a preference and decided to follow her.
“Okay.” Evelyn did not raise her head and put the sauce on the pizza.
When she finished, she handed him the pizza. “Try this.”.
“Should I eat first?” Eric was hesitant, thinking she might be experimenting.
“You can refuse it if you’re afraid of being drugged.” Evelyn snorted and did not understand him. After all, he had seen all the procedures of her cooking.
“I’ll eat it, of course!” Eric took the pizza and took a bite of it.
It tasted better than he had thought.
Evelyn snorted and lowered her head to put sauce for her pizza.
“Do you eat it often?” Eric wanted to know everything about her.
“No, not really.” She used to eat in the canteen of the army and did not have many opportunities for that.
Besides, it would be boring to eat pizza often.
Eric nodded his head and said nothing.
Evelyn changed her clothes after breakfast. Then she looked around the room and left with Eric.
She had got two plans for today and she believed she could handle it. Yet she frowned when they arrived at the house of the Jackson family. The garden was filled up with people waiting for them.
“What’s going on?” Evelyn raised her brows.
Eric smiled. “They’re trying to give you a lesson.”
“Interesting. But you don’t seem to be worried about me.” Evelyn stared at him with confusion.
“Will you be afraid of anything? You dare to marry me within such a

short time.” He would have been worried about her before. But since he knew that she was the one saving him, he would not be worried at all. Evelyn nodded. “You’re right. I’ve married you. And I won’t be afraid of them.”
“Good. Cheer up!” Eric gave her a thumb up and opened the door.
He had thought of opening the door for her and was surprised when she got off the car on her own.
She would never wait for being served by other people.
When she stepped out of the car, everyone in the garden looked at her and ignored Eric.
They were relieved to find that none of Evelyn’s clothes were luxury brands.
She looked like an average girl and could not come from a wealthy family.
In that case, they would not be afraid that Eric would try to win the property with the help of his wife.
“Hello, I’m Evelyn. Nice to meet you.” Evelyn greeted them nicely although they were waiting for the show.
Evelyn’s smile froze on her face.
None of them said any words to her.
Karlo, Eric’s father, hurried to break the silence.
“Nice to meet you, Evelyn.”
Freda, Eric’s mother, stared at Evelyn with a serious look.
There was a sneer on Freda’s face, which showed her satisfaction.
Yet she did not say any harsh words.
“Welcome, Evelyn. I’m Eric’s big brother. My name is Evan.” As the leader of the company, Evan behaved kind, which was unlike his mother.
“I’m Evan’s wife, call me Monica. Welcome, Evelyn.” Monica slowed down her speed when she said “welcome”, which sounded unwillingly.
Evelyn nodded her head. “Thanks.”
“So you’re married indeed! I’m Earl, your second brother. Welcome to the family.” Earl was temperate and looked sincere.
Yet Evelyn would not trust him as Eric had told her that she could only trust his father and little sister.

It was strange that she did not see his sister.
“Thanks.” Evelyn forced a smile, thinking she was also good at acting.
She had learned a lot from Lola, the best actress.
“You should learn the rules of the Jackson family when you married Eric. Pay attention to your clothes and manners.” Freda spoke finally.
Yet Freda said so to give Evelyn a lesson. She would not accept Evelyn easily. Otherwise, she would not have had all the serv ants here.
