Chapter 3
The guys in the profiles all looked average, around forty, and most of them didn’t even have a steady job!
Amold glared at Tracy in extreme dissatisfaction. “Some of these guys are my age! Tracy, how could you introduce these middle–aged men to Ellinor?“-
Tracy looked a bit stiff. She had someone fake the photos and profiles of these men. She hadn’t expected Ellinor, who usually doesn’t talk much, to actually find the real information about these men!
Tracy quickly put on an innocent face. “Arnold, I have no idea how this happened. I made sure to pick the best men for Ellinor. It must be a mistake from the matchmaking agency!”
Ellinor found it amusing. “Auntie Tracy, you didn’t even verify the authenticity of the men’s information, and you confidently referred to them as high–quality men. I’m not your biological child, but how could you take my lifelong happiness so lightly? Dad, you wouldn’t feel proud if I married such middle–aged men, right?”
Tracy tried to explain. “No… That’s not….”
But Arnold didn’t want to hear it. He threw the profiles onto Tracy’s face in extreme disappointment
“Enough! From now on, you’re not to interfere with Ellinor’s marriage! I’ll freeze your bank card this month. Spend less time wasting money and reflect on your actions at home!”
Tracy turned pale. “Arnold, you’ve misunderstood….”
Arnold ignored her and looked at his daughter with some guilt. “Ellinor, I’m sorry for making you meet so many middle–aged men. You don’t have to go on blind dates anymore.”
Ellinor smiled. “Thank you, Dad.”
After Arnold went upstairs, Tracy glared at Ellinor with malicious intent.
Ellinor felt Tracy’s angry stare and coolly said, “By the way, Auntie Tracy, I thought you would be satisfied with the high–quality men you personally chose as your sons–in–law. So I gave these men Sheila’s private number. I hope Sheila can develop something with them!”
Tracy clenched her teeth in anger. “What? How dare you!”
Her Sheila was a superstar. Those average men would never deserve to call her!
Ellinor couldn’t be bothered with Tracy anymore. She yawned and went upstairs to sleep.
Tracy cursed Ellinor under her breath and was about to go to her room to convince Arnold not to freeze her bank card when the doorbell suddenly rang.
Who would come this late?
Opening the door, she saw a man in a suit and behind him, a line of men in black carrying many things. They looked quite threatening.
Seeing so many strangers appearing in the middle of the night, Tracy became wary. “Who are you looking for?”
Collin said, “Mrs. Mendoza, we are here to deliver a betrothal gift from Mr. Blanchet to Ms. Mendoza!”
“A betrothal gift? What betrothal gift? And who is this Mr. Blanchet?”
“The name of Mr. Blanchet is Theo.”
Tracy’s eyes widened when she heard the name.
“Theo? Is it the Theo from the top–tier Blanchet family?”
Collin responded, “Correct.”
Tracy, “You mean the young master of the Blanchet family is interested in my daughter?”
Collin hesitated a bit before saying, “If that’s how you understand it, then yes.”
Tracy believed her daughter Sheila was the hottest actress of the moment. She was beautiful and talented. It was only natural that she would be noticed by a wealthy family. But this suitor had a very important background and even came to propose directly. This was too
sudden!
Seeing that Tracy hadn’t responded, Collin asked, “Does Mrs. Mendoza disagree with this marriage?”
Tracy snapped out of her thoughts and quickly shook her head. “No, it’s just that my daughter isn’t home right now. For such a big matter, let’s wait until she comes back….”
Collin interrupted her. “Mrs. Mendoza, your daughter has already accepted the engagement ring from Mr. Blanchet. You just need to accept his gifts now.”
Sheila had accepted Mr. Blanchet’s ring. Had they already been dating? That child Sheila! She got such a good boyfriend and didn’t even tell them!
Tracy didn’t dare to keep the guests waiting anymore and quickly invited Collin to sit down. Collin didn’t enter, but signaled his men to bring the gifts in.
“In three days, Mr. Blanchet will personally come to marry Ms. Mendoza.”
Tracy was shocked. “Ah? In three days? Isn’t that…too rushed?”
Collin said, “Mrs. Mendoza, rest assured, Mr. Blanchet has arranged everything for the wedding. Everything will be the best. Ms. Mendoza will definitely not be ill–treated.”
Everything would be the best? Mr. Blanchel was truly devoted to Sheila!
Once Sheila married into the Blanchet family, she would become the mother of the son of the Blanchet family. Would she ever have to
worry
about not having wealth and honor?
At that time, everyone who saw her would have to show respect!
Thinking of this, Tracy was overjoyed.
“Alright! We will also be ready to send our daughter off within three days!”
Collin nodded and bid farewell. “Then I won’t disturb you any longer. Goodbye.”
Arnold came out of his room when he heard noises outside. “Who was here? What are all these…?”
Tracy was ecstatic as she stroked the valuable gifts, her body trembling from excitement.
“Amold! Good news! Theo from the Blanchet family has got his eye on our Sheila! Look at all these gifts from the Blanchet family; all top–notch stuff!”
Arnold was taken aback, “What? Theo? Are you talking about Theo, the CEO of the Blanchet Corporation who just recently returned to the country?”
Tracy nodded with excitement, “Yes, him! That’s the one!”
Arnold clutched his chest, fearing his overexcitement would induce a heart attack.
“Good lord! I never imagined our Sheila would catch Mr. Blanchet’s fancy!”
Tracy said with pride, “Now, whose daughter is this?”
“Tracy, you’ve raised one hell of a daughter!”
“So now you’re singing my praises? A moment ago you were threatening to freeze my bank account!”
“Ah, I was just mad at you. Ellinor isn’t your biological daughter, but you can’t let her go on a date with such an old man!”
“I didn’t mean to! Ellinor grew up in the countryside. She’s headstrong and has a bit of a temper. I just want an older man who can tolerate and be kind to her. Who knew the matchmaker would lie about the details!”
“Tracy, I was wrong.”
A few words were all it took to pacify Arnold, making Tracy feel pretty smug. She thought to herself, “Does that little girl Ellinor really think she can challenge me?”
But her daughter Sheila was about to marry into the Blanchet family. Their best days were yet to come! Who had time to deal with the
likes of Ellinor!
The next morning, Tracy called her superstar daughter Sheila to come home immediately.
As soon as Sheila walked through the door, she complained, “Mom, why the rush? I have a shoot this afternoon!”
“Obviously it’s about your wedding with Theo Blanchet!”
“Wedding? What wedding? I don’t even know that guy!”
Seeing her daughter’s clueless expression, Tracy’s heart sank. She quickly explained about the marriage proposal and the gifts.
“Sheila, how could you not know the first son of the Blanchet family? Didn’t you accept the engagement ring he sent you?”
