Chapter 47  After the two bantered back and forth for a while, their relationship naturally became much closer.  Seeing that it was almost time, Troy handed a thick file folder to Nydia. “I hope this is a great start. I’m looking forward to us working together.”  Finishing, he reached out his big hand.  Nydia paused for a second but quickly reached out her hand to shake his with a bright and confident smile. “Thanks for your appreciation, Mr. Miles.”  This is just the beginning, for real.” Troy raised his eyebrows mysteriously.  Nydia smiled brightly. “I’ll surely charge you next time.”  “Four times higher than the market price, what do you think?” replied Troy.  “I’ll see,” Nydia joked.  After Nydia finished packing her luggage at the hotel, she went downstairs. Stuart walked up  and took the luggage, putting it in the trunk.  She thought it was just the two of them, but when she sat down, she saw Cade..  He was leaning back in his chair, taking a little break. His eyes were closed tight, and his long legs were crossed up.  The sunlight shining through the window occasionally flickered on his handsome. features, every inch of his skin glowing, with long and thick eyelashes, exuding a sense. of pride.  Nydia exclaimed inwardly, ‘How can a man have such good skin and such long eyelashes?”  Even if she hated him, she couldn’t deny that his face was top–notch.  He looked a bit tired, but despite that, his shirt and suit were still impeccable, and he looked like a noble.  ‘It’s nice he’s sleeping. His annoying mouth can finally shut up,‘ thought Nydia.  1/5  She enjoyed the peace.  Cade slept until they arrived at the airport. It was evident that he was really exhausted.  While waiting for their flight, they passed the time peacefully.  Nydia was totally lost in viewing the sea outside the window when she suddenly heard some commotion from the terminal building.  Hundreds of black–clad bodyguards surrounded the T3 VIP waiting room, led by an old man with gray hair.  Nydia could tell at a glance that the old man dressed head to toe in expensive attire wasn’t just an average old man.  He bowed respectfully at the entrance of the waiting room and said, “Sir, let’s go home. Your health is not good. What should we do if you get sick again?”  ‘Oh, so it’s the kid from which family came out. Nydia looked at the black–clad bodyguards and exclaimed inwardly. With so many guards, they must value this kid very much.  Despite that, there was not even a hint of the VIP lounge door opening.  Seeing that Nydia’s neck stretched so long that she nearly wanted to stick her ear over to the other side, Cade sneered. “Why not have the airport livestream it for you so you don’t have to try so hard? Be careful your head might fall.”  His words were greatly sarcastic.  Nydia looked away and smiled back at him. “Well, that’s not bad. Mrs. Jackson’s bloody news in Mewarting City is sure to attract enough attention for the Jackson Group. You can just sit back and lose money.”  “Still, it’s better than you lying down dead,” retorted Cade.  Nydia noticed that Cade had been talking more, and his words had been getting more ruthless lately. This was not a good sign.  She was starting to miss the old expressionless and quiet Cade.  “I gotta go,” Cade said coldly before boarding first.  Nydia followed in sullenly and heard the door over there seem to have opened.  Chapter 47  She quickly glanced back but couldn’t see the person walking out of the door because there were too many bodyguards, only catching a glimpse of a white shirt.  “If you don’t move now, you can stay here forever.” Cade’s impatient voice rang out.  Nydia quickly turned around and said, “Coming right now!”  It was already night by the time they arrived in Creekheim.  Cade went to the company, while Nydia went straight home.  As soon as she walked in, Dara came up and greeted her, “Mrs. Nydia, you’re back!”  Nydia felt a little awkward for a moment. She hesitated for a few seconds before smiling and responding, “Yeah.”  “Please go upstairs and wash up first. I’ll have the stew ready in a minute.” Dara went to take Nydia’s coat, but Nydia stopped her. “It’s fine. I’ll take care of these trivialities. myself in the future.”  Gratefully looking at Nydia, Dara said, “That’s so nice of you, Mrs. Nydia.”  Nydia felt a bit embarrassed being stared at by her, thinking about whether she should still leave the work to Dara.  Because it was just the two of them at home, Nydia quickly washed up and then headed. downstairs in her nightgown.  As soon as she came downstairs, she saw […]

Chapter 46  However, the pillow missed the target and hit the female secretary entering the door.  The female secretary respectfully greeted, “Hi, Mr. Jackson.”  Cade took a cold glance at her without saying anything and walked out.  The female secretary nervously swallowed and thought, ‘He is indeed just as ruthless as rumored. My boss is the best. He is gentle and kind.  The door was closed. Nydia’s chest was still heaving heavily.  The secretary walked up to her, asking cautiously, “Miss Sharp, are you okay?”  Nydia let out a couple of deep breaths, forcing herself to calm down, and asked, “Where’s Troy? I need to talk to him.”  gar  “Mr. Miles was having a morning meeting in the company. He told me to tell you that Justin has been taken to the Creekheim police station. Because all the money had been recovered, and he took the initiative to confess the whereabouts of several fugitive. criminals. He should be able to avoid the death penalty, replied the secretary.  Nydia breathed a sigh of relief, thinking, ‘As long as he stayed alive, there was still hope for everything. Thanks to Troy, or else I wouldn’t know what to do this time. I had to thank him in person.  “When will Mr. Miles’s meeting end?” Nydia asked the female secretary.  “10:30.” The female secretary glanced down at her wristwatch. “That’s 20 minutes later.”  Nydia opened the map app and checked it out. Driving from the hospital to the Miles Group would take about twenty minutes.  Time was a bit tight, but she could make it in time.  She was about to tidy up a bit when the door was opened again.”  Stuart came in. “Ma’am, your discharge procedures have been completed,” he said respectfully.  Nydia watched him, thinking back to the punch he threw at Justin’s face. With just that one hit, Justin was knocked out.  ‘He looks scholarly and gentle but was actually so ruthless, thought Nydia.  Chapter 46  “I never realized you are such a good fighter, Stuart.” Nydia sneered. “I had the pleasure of witnessing it last night.”  Stuart seemed utterly unfazed by her sarcasm, as cool as a cucumber. “Thanks, ma’am.”  To be honest, Cade was the only person who could really affect his emotions.  Nydia stopped looking at him, turned around, and walked out. Stuart immediately followed up.  “What are you following me for?” Nydia shot him an impatient glare. She just felt annoyed seeing anything related to the Jackson family, especially Cade and his crew.  Stuart bowed and said, “The president is worried about your safety, so he wants me to follow you around 24/7 to protect you.”  Nydia felt she had just heard the funniest joke in the world and sarcastically retorted, “Protect me? Do you even believe that?”  Stuart didn’t say anything because that was indeed not something Cade said; it was just his own guess.  Cade only instructed him to stay on guard without leaving her.  But Stuart felt that Cade really cared about Nydia’s safety because he was so worried that he rushed all the way to Mewarting City without even wearing his shoes when he couldn’t reach her on the phone last night.  Nydia didn’t even need to think to know that these words were all Stuart’s own ideas. Protect? This word was just weird and totally uncalled for to describe her relationship with Cade. Instead, monitoring was more suitable.  Nydia ignored him and got out of the car with the female secretary.  Stuart opened his car door and nodded politely. “Ma’am.” This was his way of saying that she needed to get in his car.  Nydia rolled her eyes at him and said to the female secretary, “You go ahead; I’ll be right behind you.”  The female secretary nodded, glanced at Stuart, and saw Stuart smile at her. She immediately got goosebumps all over her body and bent down to get into the car.  so scary, just like his boss!‘ she thought.  It was quiet in the car the whole way.  2/5  ‘He’s  Chapter 48  Nydia wanted to give Lance a call but realized after taking out her phone that this was a new phone and all of the previous records, including contacts, were gone.  She was so pissed off. Her eyes were glaring at the only number left. ‘What a shameless man! Not only did he save his number, but he also remarked himself as ‘Mr. Jackson“, cursed Nydia inwardly.  “Ma’am, I already called Mr. Nguyen just now,” Stuart said as he focused on driving.  Nydia stared at the back of his head, asking, “How did you know I was going to call him?”  “Because Justin’s incident had the biggest impact on the Sharp Group. Now that you’ve resolved it, you definitely want to tell Mr. Nguyen as soon as possible so he can reassure the others,” Stuart stated calmly.  “You’re pretty smart,” Nydia said sarcastically.  “I learned it all from Mr. Jackson,” Stuart replied. 

Nydia sat on the chair across from Justin. As soon as his hands were freed, Justin pulled off the hood on his head brutally.  Seeing the light abruptly, he uncomfortably closed his eyes for a few seconds. When he opened them again and saw Nydia across from him, he instantly froze, his face turning. pale.  “Nydia…” His lips trembled uncontrollably, showing the intense struggle inside.  Nydia gave him a cold look and asked the question that had been bothering her for two days and one night, “Why?”  Justin didn’t answer her right away. Instead, he started bawling his eyes out.  He was crying so pitifully that Nydia felt a little sorry, but she reminded herself not to be soft–hearted. If she were to be soft–hearted now, that would truly harm him.  “What are you going to do with this money?” she asked directly.  Justin gradually stopped crying and then spilled all the details of what had happened.  He did take that money and installed stealing equipment in the computer. But it was quickly discovered by the accountant. When she asked him about it, he casually made up an excuse. Surprisingly, not only did the accountant believe him, but she also quickly transferred the money to his account.  Before the matter got exposed, he regretted it and wanted to return the money. But the accountant said returning the money would raise suspicions, and she would lose her job. She told him to run away with the money and even said she had people helping him in Mewarting City and abroad.  Justin said he believed in it wholeheartedly, but Nydia was not a fool.  ‘Even though Justin was honest, that doesn’t mean he’s stupid. With all those loopholes. in the accountant’s words, how could he not be suspicious? And why should the accountant in the Jackson Group help him?‘ she thought.  “You are going to explain to Jackson Group with this excuse?” Nydia’s chest was heaving in anger. “You still won’t tell me the truth?”  Knowing that he couldn’t fool Nydia with his lame excuses, Justin decided just to come clean and let out all the frustration and anger that had been building up inside him for  1/5  Chapter 45  years. “That’s right. I just want the money! We have been busting our asses for Jackson Group over these years, never once living for ourselves. Jed and Robin were the most hard–working, but look at where they ended up, huh?  “Cade just kicked them both out with a little game! Does he ever think about Robin having a paralyzed daughter? Are people from his family really better than us? Why? So what if I take 40 million dollars? The Jackson Group stole far more than 40 million dollars from the Sharp Group.”  Nydia looked at Justin’s red eyes, her vision getting blurry. She raised her hand to wipe it away, but the tears quickly covered it again.  “And you, you’re the princess of the Sharp family, and how are you treated at the Jackson family? Has Cade ever looked at you straight? Did he consider your feelings when he brought his mistress to the company?” added Justin.  Nydia bit her lip so hard but still couldn’t case the dull pain in her heart. Sweat beads trickled down her forehead, her face as pale as a ghost.  Justin stared at her, and the hatred in his eyes slowly turned to pity and sarcasm.  He sat on the ground dejectedly. “Just take me back to Cade. That’s it.”  Sirens blared outside the door.  Justin bowed to Nydia solemnly. When he lifted his head, he smiled. “Nydia, take a different path. You are still young, and we all hope you can live your own life.”  Nydia was crying uncontrollably.  Someone knocked on the door at this time.  “Nydia, sorry about this. It won’t be long. With that, Justin quickly shattered a bottle on the ground and took a few steps behind Nydia, pressing the shard against her neck.  “Nydia, don’t cry.” He carefully moved the shard a little further away from her skin.  Nydia raised her hands and kept wiping her eyes, but tears flowed like a broken dam. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t stop them.  The  cops kicked down the door.  The cold sea breeze mixed with the familiar scent of sandalwood hit Nydia in the face.  “Nydia!” The man’s cold voice rang out.  25  Chapter 45  He pushed through the crowd and appeared in front of her.  Nydia’s tears were even more rampant.  “Let her go!” Cade said, his eyes dark and his words dripping with a chilling and bloody breath.  Justin suddenly started laughing, then he leaned down and whispered in Nydia’s ear, “Nydia, you…  A loud bang interrupted what he was about to say.  Justin let out a loud scream, lost his balance, and took a step back; then Stuart’s fist landed heavily on his face, making Justin fall to the ground and completely out of combat.  The warm, sticky blood sprayed Nydia in the face with a strong smell of blood.  Her eyes suddenly widened, and she turned to see Justin, but her body was strangled by a strong force.  Without hesitating, Nydia raised her hand and slapped that face with all her might.  She let out all her strength with that hit, which made Cade’s mouth start bleeding.  Cade looked at her in shock, feeling super pissed off, but he still didn’t let go of her.  Justin’s hand bones were shattered, blood gushing out like crazy, and he was beaten to the point of almost losing consciousness.  Nydia was crying nonstop, gasping for breath, and clutching Cade’s collar, pleading, “Don’t hit him anymore. It’s enough, it’s enough. Let the police handle it.” 

Chapter 44  Nydia immediately declined, “I’m really not hungry. Let’s find him first.”  Time is ticking away. What if Justin really sneaked out of the country while we were having a meal?” she thought in worry.  Troy could see her worries. “Don’t worry. I’ll arrange it when we get to the company. You can eat whatever you like in my company’s cafeteria. Once we find him, you can. treat me to a big meal.”  With his help, even a hundred meals would be reasonable.  Nydia gave an appreciative nod, saying, “Thank you.”  “You’re friends with Bentley, and Bentley is friends with me, so in a way, we’re also friends,” Troy said with a light–hearted laugh.  ‘What’s up  with this logic?‘ Nydia wondered.  His appearance and the way he talked always made Nydia unable to associate him with a middle–aged man in his forties. However, he was right about one thing: they were indeed considered friends.  *******  Half an hour later, Nydia stood in front of the towering skyscraper. The silver–gray “Miles Group” sign and the female secretary respectfully greeting Troy all felt a bit  surreal.  She thought Troy was pretty awesome but didn’t expect him to be this amazing.  The Miles Group, this familiar yet strange name, filled her entire four years of college. It was one of the top three cruise companies in the world, her dream employer.  Her dad wanted her to take over the family business when the Sharp Group was still strong. However, Nydia took no interest in real estate but was intensely interested in cruises and shipping.  So, in her junior year, she submitted her internship resume to the cruises and shipping leader, Miles Group, behind her dad’s back.  Unexpectedly, the Sharp Group encountered a crisis before she could get a result.  Although it had been five years already, the memories were still so vivid. But things and  1/5  Chapter 44  people had all changed.  What are you thinking about?” Troy asked.  Nydia came to her senses and smiled. “It’s nothing.”  Troy had the female secretary take Nydia inside and told her to take good care of Nydia. Then he drove away himself.  The female secretary was really talkative, but Nydia couldn’t listen to anything she said. She followed the secretary into the reception room on the 56th floor.  “Mr. Miles said you haven’t eaten anything yet. It’s lunchtime now. I’ll bring you some of the specialties from Mewarting City.” The female secretary had a polite smile.  However, Nydia didn’t really have much of an appetite.  The female secretary noticed it, saying, “The cafeteria in our company is famous. throughout Mewarting City. The taste and dishes are unmatched outside. You really should try it.”  She had received the order from Troy to ensure that Nydia ate something.  Unable to refuse the hospitality. Nydia agreed.  Five minutes later, the secretary and a chef walked in with several dishes, mainly seafood and sweets.  Nydia came from a wealthy family and then married into the Jackson Group as the president’s wife. She was used to the best things in life, so she could tell at a glance that the female secretary wasn’t just talking big.  She was surprised to find that the cafeteria at Miles Group had all the expensive imported ingredients.  She took a few bites under the eager gazes of the female secretary and the chef.  “How was it?” Seeing her relaxed brows, the female secretary was sure that Nydia liked these dishes.  “Hmm, it’s really tasty. It’s a bit different from what we have in Creekheim, but it’s delicious,” Nydia commented honestly.  The female secretary smiled happily and served more food for Nydia. “Feel free to enjoy. I promise you’ll want to eat it again after you leave.”  Chapter 44  Nydia could do nothing but helplessly chuckle as she watched the table being stacked into small piles within seconds.  Food could cure everything. After the meal, Nydia’s tense nerves relaxed quite a bit.  Troy still hadn’t returned, and Nydia was waiting for him on the sofa in the lounge.  As she was waiting, she dozed off on the couch.  After some time, Nydia heard the door being opened in a daze. Then came the sound of light footsteps, getting closer and closer until they stopped beside her.  She felt like something brushed against her face, so itchy,  Nydia furrowed her brows in annoyance. She tried to shift her body and suddenly slid down beneath the couch.  She suddenly opened her eyes. She thought she would fall hard on the floor but unexpectedly fell into a strong pair of arms.  When she looked up, she saw Troy’s handsome and gentle face.  “Why don’t you go sleep inside? There are beds in there,” Troy said with a smile.  Nydia froze for a few seconds, then quickly stood up from his arms. “Sorry about that.”  The blanket fell off onto the floor. 

Chapter 43  This was the first time Cade had ever said so much to the employees. Every word was a warning.  Kaden and the other executives all stood still, not daring to make a move.  They initially wanted to argue against his decision regarding the stealing incident, but now their priority was to protect their jobs first.  However, they were also puzzled, wondering, ‘Over the past five years, Nydia had been riding the bench next to Cade. And now, all of a sudden, he’s giving her a shot? What’s really going on here?”  Josephine never expected Cade actually to let Nydia off the hook. She had thought about all the ways he might humiliate or punish Nydia, but boy, he didn’t do anything.  She had only just relaxed for a few days, thinking that Cade had no feelings for Nydia at all, but reality once again made her feel uneasy and resentful.  Clenching her fists tightly, she was so angry that she would definitely punch Nydia in the face if Kaden and the others weren’t there.  Watching Cade’s back, Nydia felt a warmth rising in her heart, mixed with some inexplicable, uncontrollable feelings.  This feeling was so weird, so uncomfortable.  Nydia quickly shook her head to clear her thoughts. Although Cade helped her this time, she knew very  well that if she couldn’t bring Justin back within three days, her situation wouldn’t change. Instead, it would be even worse than now.  She immediately called Alison and hurried into her own office.  “Ms. Sharp, the police found out that Justin took a train to Mewarting City early this morning and has been missing since then,” Alison reported.  “Mewarting City?” Nydia knitted her eyebrows, wondering, ‘What is he doing there?”  Alison reminded her, “Ms. Sharp, do you think Justin might be planning to sneak out of the country from Mewarting City? After all, the shipping industry is well developed there, and the shady industry is also rampant.”  Although Nydia didn’t want to admit that Justin might run off with the money and flee the country, she couldn’t afford to overlook any possible leads right now.  1/5  “Book me a ticket to Mewarting City right now, she ordered.  Will do, replied Alison  When nigha fell, Cade was sitting at his desk with legs casually crossed.  The door swung open, and Stuart walked in. His hand was wrapped in a thin layer of gauze, with a faint hint of blood seeping through.  He walked over to Cade and said respectfully, “Mr. Jackson.”  Cade took a quick glance at his hand without any expression and then quickly looked away. “All good now?”  “Yes,” answered Stuart  “You can leave now,” added Cade.  “Okay.” After Stuart left, the office once again fell into dead silence.  As he stared at his computer desktop, Cade’s dark eyes flickered with light, revealing no  emotions.  On the desktop was a remittance bill, with the remitter being Josephine and the payee being none other than Joe Walton, a manager in Mewarting City.  He realized Josephine hadn’t been as innocent since she joined the company. She had also started to enjoy playing tricks all because she was too close to that woman, a bad influence.  Cade leaned back. His Adam’s apple bobbed, his eyes half–closed.  Even when he found out that Josephine had brought a journalist to interrogate him and Nydia about their divorce, he only treated it as women being jealous.  He could even forgive her for the photos and information leakage during her hospital stay because it proved that she loved him.  But his indulgence seemed to have made her lose her boundaries. She actually dared to do something shady with company matters, using the Jackson Group as her stage to show off her tricks.  ‘Looks like I need to give her a little reminder, thought Cade.  A moment later, Cade opened his eyes, picked up his phone, and opened the WhatsApp chat, staring at the conversation/box. “That woman should have arrived in Mewarting City by now,”  Chapter 48  he wondered.  At Mewarting Hospital, an old doctor instructed Troy, “Make sure your grandma gets up and moves around; don’t let her lay in bed all the time.”  Troy politely nodded and said, “You know her. If she doesn’t want to move, no one can do anything about it.”  The old doctor humphed. “She’s been stubborn her whole life. I don’t know how your grandfather puts up with her.”  Troy chuckled.  The assistant doctor put a cup of coffee in front of the old doctor, stretched lazily, looking very tired.  “Didn’t sleep well last night?” Troy often came to see the old doctor, so he knew them well.  Hearing that, the assistant doctor let out a big yawn. “Don’t even mention it. Three people were beaten into pulp last night. They woke us up in the middle of the night for emergency treatment, and it didn’t end until dawn.”  “So serious? Did they catch the perpetrator?” asked Troy.  “Of course not. I heard from the witnesses that a group of people in black clothes beat them. up ruthlessly and then left without any hesitation,” replied the assistant doctor.  Troy frowned. Mewarting City was by the sea, close to the border. The security was a bit chaotic.  “They couldn’t catch them then. The three people were unlucky.” Just as he was talking, a WhatsApp voice call suddenly popped up.  He took a quick glance at the screen and immediately answered.  “Mr. Miles, are you busy now?” Nydia’s voice came through.

Chapter 38  The first thing Nydia did when she got back to Creekheim was go to Josephine to settle the score. There was no way she was going to let herself suffer any loss in front of anyone but Cade.  Josephine was making coffee at the time. Seeing Nydia push her way in aggressively, Josephine’s eyes swept a few unnoticeable glances toward the cubicle.  “Ms. Brooks, you’re so giddy. You spend your days either making coffee or seducing other. people’s husbands.” Nydia sneered and walked over to grab the coffee in Josephine’s hand as soon as she could. After taking a sip, she frowned and threw the coffee cup back into Josephine’s hand. “Unlike me, who works hard and can’t get anything, and is still being fooled around by you.”  Josephine’s face went pale for a moment. If Cade hadn’t been there, she’d have been about to go up and slap Nydia.  She remained calm and smiled blandly. “Nydia, I don’t know what you mean.”  “Oh, really? I don’t know what you mean either, so I came to ask specifically.” Nydia stepped closer to Josephine, her eyes penetrating. “How much did you pay them to make them bold enough to put their hands on me? And what did you say to them that convinced them that I wasn’t treated well by Jackson Group and wasn’t cared for by Cade, and made them think they can do anything they want to me?”
