Chapter 80  “Alpha Nick, you are making me feel like a mistress,” Sheridan complained in honesty, unable to contain the mixed feelings swimming through her heart. The view before her was breathtaking, and if not for Chaya’s meal, she would have emptied the plate. The dessert was equally mouthwatering, but who knew that Alpha Nick would order some fine wine as well? Sheridan could not believe that she was only enjoying his kindness after the divorce.  If he had not threatened to come and see the Alpha King, she would not have agreed to come, as she began to feel things she never wanted to feel for any man again. Alpha Nick’s gaze dulled, not liking that term on her lips. He had brought her to a coded resort to relax, and it was about a three–hour drive from her pack: This was something he never did for any woman, not even Charlotte, though he had planned it for their honeymoon when she chose a human wedding. The thought of it caused intense pain in his heart. It was obvious that Sheridan loved the place, but her words disturbed him greatly. “Why do you think so?” He asked seriously as they took in the mountain view from where they dined in the open space. It was so serene with the stars in the sky as Alpha Nick rented the whole place for just the two of them. “You have your mate at home, but you are out here with me. It reminds me of when you left me at home and went looking for Charlotte. When you found her, you hardly returned home anymore.” Pain flashed in Sheridan’s eyes as she spoke, reminding her of when she craved his attention so much but only got his absence and indifference. Why did life have to be so unfair? She just wanted to move on, and yet, he was back to mess up her life again. “I’m so sorry, but the only reason why I’m keeping her at this moment is because of you,” he revealed. Sheridan was slightly taken aback. Then she stared at him strangely as he continued to speak. “If you’d come with me right now, I would reject her right in front of you.” This is what Sheridan wanted when they were married, but after everything that happened, how could she fight the mate bond? “We are not mates, and there is nothing between us. It’s not right for you to reject your destined mate,” she advised. Alpha Nick must have dressed to kill and looked so breathtaking, but she had gotten 1/4  Chapter 80 past that and was no longer swayed by attractive looks. Even her heart sang a different song as she could not trust it being with Alpha Nick. “Are you serious right now?” Alpha Nick was not accepting her advice. He quickly poured a glass of wine for her. “Drink some wine first. I specially…” “No, I can’t drink wine,” Sheridan quickly refused, unconsciously holding her belly. Alpha Nick’s gaze was on her face, and he didn’t read any meaning into her action. “Why?” He asked seriously. She didn’t complain about the food or dessert, so why was she refusing his wine? Did she think he was going to take advantage of her? Sheridan raked her mind for the perfect excuse and said, “I decided to stop taking in alcohol after that night.” Alpha Nick understood her point but still felt like she didn’t trust him enough. “But it’s just the two of us. It’s not drugged. I specially ordered it and would like you to taste it.” Sheridan did not know how to argue her way out of the situation without revealing the truth about her pregnancy. This unborn child was the only hope she had to forge ahead. “You were telling me about Charlotte before.” She quickly changed the topic of discussion. Alpha Nick sighed frustratedly, combing his hair with his fingers but still maintaining an elegant look. “I would prefer that we don’t mention her, but since you brought her up again, I will be completely honest with you. My reason for not rejecting her is the fact that it would be too easy on her.” Sheila was a bit lost, not hiding it as Alpha Nick continued to explain it to her. “She would have gone back to her normal life with Tom after destroying mine. I mean, I already destroyed Tom’s business, but it’s still not enough.” Sheridan was even more confused. She knew that Charlotte never loved Alpha Nick. It was the reason why she was bold enough to propose to him, but what she did not expect was Charlotte’s unexpected return, and she’d be lying if she said she was not interested in knowing why it so happened. Alpha Nick continued to speak without being asked. “It would have been fine if she had told me from the first time we discovered the bond that she was in love with somebody else. I wouldn’t have taken offense, and we would have just rejected each other, but what did she do?”  211 

“Sheila, can we meet?”  Sheila was slightly nervous at the other end of the line. She was afraid of betraying herself if she saw Alpha Nick again. The man who used to be cold and aloof was suddenly giving her so much attention, which was scary. “What for?” she asked in annoyance. Alpha Nick felt relieved that she did not outright refuse and hang up on him. He owed her so much, and she happened to be the only woman he ever slept with. He might be selfish, but he wasn’t giving up on her. “Please, I just want to talk.” “Nick…” Sheridan was about to refuse, but Alpha Nick cut in,  “Please Sheila. I’m begging you. If you refuse, I will come and stay at your pack. Dustin is willing to take care of my pack in my absence. I want to see your dad, and I don’t care if your seven brothers beat me up. You leave me no choice,” he said with determination. Alpha Nick was ready to shoulder all the blame if he met with Sheila’s father. Sheridan was certain that her father would just punish Alpha Nick a little before pushing her into his arms. “What is the location?” she asked, and Alpha Nick was a little relieved. Her acceptance to meet him did not mean she accepted him back, but it was still a stepping stone. “I will pick you up at 5 pm,” he said softly. Sheridan almost rolled her eyes. It felt strange that he spoke to her in this tone. “No. Let me meet you halfway,” she responded, not wanting him near the pack to raise suspicion. Alpha Nick refused, determined to meet her parents to explain everything to them. He wanted Sheila back and would do anything for her to return to him. “I am the one asking for the date, so please get ready. I’m coming over.” The call ended soon after, with Sheridan releasing a frustrated sigh. As soon as she lowered her hand holding the phone to her ear, she heard a deep voice behind her. “I hope you are not going back to that loser?” Arnold asked seriously. After receiving the news from their parents about Sheridan’s pregnancy, they went from extremely caring to extremely doting. “He just wants to see me,“/Sheridan said with a forced smile, not able to tell which was 1/4  Ox Dreame Installed Open Chapter 70  harder, dealing with Alpha Nick or her elder brothers. They still saw her as that little girl in spite of all she had achieved and were so protective of her. This was the first grandchild to be welcomed into the family, so they all needed to take great care of him or her. Sheridan knew he was right, but Alpha Nick was crazy and would do as he had said. “I will be careful. It would take hours for him to get here anyway,” she said calmly, internally nervous about meeting Alpha Nick again. Gone were the days when she stayed at home, waiting for the slightest sign of him. Now, his presence to her was unwanted. “Great. I just made you breakfast,” Dara said. Being the third of the seven brothers, he was also the best cook among them, but his mate, Chaya, was even better. “Did you make it, or did Chaya?” Sheridan teased him when he brought food to her on a platter. Sheridan tasted the food and closed her eyes. It was delicious. “She’s my mate, so either way, we did it together. But hey, if our baby turns out to be a boy, you should name him after me,” Dara said seriously. Sheridan opened her eyes instantly. Before she could respond, Arnold disagreed. “That won’t happen. I’m the Alpha. My having an heir is more urgent than all of you.” Sheridan was not liking this. Her thought about keeping her baby from Alpha Nick did not mean she wanted to give him or her up to either of her brothers. “Please, you have your mates. Make love to them every night until you have your own kids, but as for this child, he or she is mine alone.” Her words caused Chaya, who was pouring a fruit drink for Sheridan, to blush. Who said Dara was not trying? They did it every night, but still, there were no signs. Sheila did it just once, and boom, she’s pregnant without a mate. “Don’t be mean. I know it’s a he and a Warner, for that matter. He should be mine,” Dara insisted, rubbing Sheridan’s stomach. Sheridan could not bear to waste time with them when Alpha Nick was on the way. She ate half of the dish before pushing the platter away. “Just let the baby be born first.” Arnold picked up the platter and, seeing she left so much meat, began to devour them 2/4 

Chapter 78  Sheridan had no idea of her father’s reason for asking, but one thing was certain. She was an adult and could not be afraid of their judgment because of one mistake: trusting the wrong person. If she had gone to the gala awards alone, this would not have happened. It was because she was bent on showing Alpha Nick that she had moved on or the longing to have a partner beside her. Well, it was a bitter lesson, but she still got a treasure in return, for which reason she could not bring herself to regret her decisions. Nodding her head to her father’s question, her parents lost hope. “I don’t think that whoever drugged you has paid enough. Arnold must teach him a lesson,” the Alpha King declared, about to mindlink his first son, the acting Alpha when Goldie stopped him with a revelation. “Uncle, the man she slept with is Alpha Nick. His mate is cheating on him with my mate. I rejected him, and he accepted my rejection.” The revelation brought silence to the office, as everyone was lost in thought. The parents did not want Sheila to be a single mother, so this revelation brought hope as the Alpha King asked seriously, “Does Alpha Nick know about this?”  “No, but he hasn’t marked her for reasons we don’t know,” Goldie answered, when Sheridan countered, “He knows.” “He does?” Goldie asked, shocked. It was understandable that Sheridan’s schedules, just like hers, had been busy, but they still had time for small girl talks. Why was she kept in the dark? Sheridan explained, “He told me at the welcome party and was begging me to come back to him. When I left, I secretly married him for six months. But it was a contract for me to play the role of his Luna when his mate eloped with another man. When the six months ended, we parted ways when his mate showed up, faking that she was kidnapped.” She summarized everything, hoping that no one would ask any more questions, but there were still some loose ends to the story that needed tying. 1/3  Dreame  Chapter 78  It’s obvious he knows his mate is cheating on him. What more reason could he not mark and announce her to the pack?” The Alpha King analyzed. Nobody would support a cheating mate, and for that matter, he felt that Sheridan stood a better chance with Alpha Nick. They were married by contract, and Sheridan never got pregnant, meaning they never consummated their fake marriage until after the divorce, Sadly, Sheridan had a mind of her own. “I don’t want to go back to him. I made it clear when we signed the divorce papers. This child is now mine alone.”  Her father disagreed. Alpha Nick was one of the strongest and most powerful Alphas. He would not neglect his child even if it was accidentally conceived, “If it’s his child, then you can’t hide it from him. He would know as soon as the pregnancy begins to show. Sherry, why don’t you let us punish him, and then you go back to him. He needs to take responsibility for the child.” Knowing his daughter, he felt strongly that Alpha Nick must have done something to make her not want to go back to him. But with him having a cheating mate, the Alpha King could not allow his only daughter to be a single mother. Nevertheless, her confession rendered him powerless. “I don’t love him anymore, and what if I find my mate? I told him to forgive his mate and move on with his life.” “Did he agree?” Her mother asked this time, not comfortable with where the conversation was headed this time. you When Sheridan decided to let everything out, she did not relent, doing as she wanted. “He said he wasn’t going to give up on me, but I’m not going back to him either. If want to help, then ship me abroad or something. As soon as the child is born, I would give it a few months and return to continue my duties to the pack. He won’t know it’s his.”  Alpha Nick had his chance and blew it. With Sheridan, there was nothing like a second chance. If he had treated her with even the slightest care within those six months, she would have had something worthwhile of him, but even that did not happen. Chapter 76  Alpha Nick was equally lost in thought. Sheila was now beyond their reach, but he also knew that she had a weakness. It might be a selfish move, but Alpha Nick was determined to capitalize on it. “I’m trying, but it’s not easy. I won’t give up anyway.” “But what if she disappears again?” Beta Dustin asked worriedly. He hadn’t had the chance to apologize to Sheila and was greatly E worried about it, but Alpha Nick’s response awakened his hope. “I already left my bodyguards there to be watching and reporting her movements to me. I lost her before, and I won’t make the mistake of losing her again. I have to know where she is at every point in time. That is until I manage to get her back to this pack. I would find a day to meet with the Alpha King concerning her,” Alpha Nick revealed seriously when another scream was heard from Charlotte’s room. Sheridan’s eyes widened with shock as she tried to break free, but Alpha Nick only deepened the kiss, his tongue forcefully exploring her mouth, his arms tightly wrapped around her waist and not willing to let go. Not until a strong slap jolted him back to reality. His cheeks burned from the hot slap Sheridan had just given him as she wiped her lips with the back of hér hand, feeling embarrassed and ashamed. “Look at me very well. I am not Charlotte.” Her voice was teary as so many emotions blended together. The fact that she had been caught up in a one–sided love for so long. “I would not have you disrespect me in my own pack.” Alpha Nick was offended by her remark, as his thoughts were far from what she was thinking. He sounded sincere. “I’m not disrespecting you, Sheila. I love you, but I was just blinded by the bond.” Sheridan knew that no one could fight the bond, but Charlotte? Everyone could see how manipulative she was except Alpha Nick. “Blinded? She rejected you, she?” Sheridan asked, feeling that didn’t nothing would make Alpha Nick turn his back on Charlotte unless she indeed rejected him. Alpha Nick’s gaze darkened as he recalled the state in which he saw Charlotte and Tom at the gala awards night. “No. But I know everything going on between her and Tom,” Alpha Nick revealed, unable to hide it
