Chapter 0020  Samantha smiled and shrugged. “All women like gossip.”  Linda’s voice rang in Samantha’s ears, and the healed cuts on her face began to burn. However, a smile remained affixed on her face. She turned to look at  Kendrick with a hint of ridicule.  “Let’s just sign the contract quickly. I don’t want to take up too much of your time. I’m afraid your girlfriend will hate me.”  Samantha appeared to be jealous.  Hearing Samantha’s words, Kendrick’s eyes lit up as his mood improved. He smirked but kept it hidden from Samantha.  “Alright. Ms. Meadows. Please take a look at the details of the contract. If you’re satisfied with the conditions, you may sign it now.”  Kendrick placed the document before Samantha with a courteous smile on his face.  He figured that if Samantha wanted to play mind games with him, he would happily take part. He wanted to discover what Samantha’s deal was by pretending to be another woman for three years.  “Alright.”  Samantha nodded and began to read the document carefully. Time slowly passed, but Samantha wasn’t anxious.  The warm sunlight poured over her, encapsulating her in a shimmer of gold. Samantha read the contract while occasionally sipping on her coffee. She looked calm and beautiful.  Kendrick’s stare never left her. Looking at her serious gaze, Kendrick had his answer. He concluded that she was indeed Samantha Duncan!  Although they looked different, their eyes were exactly the same.  Kendrick paused for a moment and then thought to himself that they were not exactly the same. He felt that there was something different about them.  Samantha no longer appeared scared and anxious like she did four years ago. She was also not obsessed with always trying to please him anymore.  Kendrick was slightly annoyed. He felt a strong sense of possessiveness and desire toward her. He was determined to make her his, and his only.  1/4  +15 BONOS  “Mr. Ford. Mr. Ford…”  After a long while, Samantha had finally finished reading through the contract. She looked up to see Kendrick’s heated gaze on her. Yet, it also seemed like he wasn’t looking directly at her either.  She coughed slightly, and Kendrick returned to his senses.  “Ms. Meadows, do you have any questions regarding our contract?”  Kendrick collected his emotions and looked at her calmly. He appeared as though he was engaged in official business, though he was staring at Samantha as if she was his prey.  Four years ago, he had managed to charm her into falling in love with him. He felt confident that he could make her fall in love with him again.  “No. Your company’s conditions are quite tempting.”  Samantha smiled and changed her posture. She ran a hand through her curls casually.  “It seems like I’ll have to work hard to repay my gratitude toward you, Mr. Ford,” Samantha said half–jokingly as she sipped her coffee.  Her coffee had already turned cold. The bitter taste made her frown involuntarily.  “Bring another two cups of coffee to my office,” Kendrick instructed his assistant using the office phone on his desk.  He looked at Samantha and said, “Your coffee has turned cold. Wait for the fresh cup to arrive.”  Samantha lowered her gaze to conceal the emotions in her eyes. When she looked at Kendrick again, an indifferent smile had been plastered on her face.  “You are so caring. It’s no wonder that so many women are in love with you.”  This was the second time.  It was the second time she had made a comment due to jealousy. Although Kendrick did not show it on his face, his mood had improved again. 

Chapter 0019  Early the next morning, before leaving the villa, Samantha asked Francis to look after Nathan.  The villa was under Francis‘ name. For the sake of convenience, she had decided that they would all live together. That way, Francis could help care for Nathan.  Today, Samantha and Kendrick were going to sign their contract.  Upon leaving the villa, she immediately caught sight of a familiar Maybach. Samantha walked over. Indeed, Kendrick was sitting inside.  “Mr. Ford, what a coincidence!” Samantha smiled as she greeted Kendrick enthusiastically.  She couldn’t help but question Kendrick’s sanity. She wondered why he was waiting outside her house.  When Kendrick’s gaze landed on Samantha, his indifferent expression shifted slightly.  “Today is the day that you will be joining our company. I came to pick you up personally.” Kendrick revealed his reason for being there. Then, he raised an eyebrow.  Although he did not have evidence that Sophia was Samantha, he still could not help but want to be closer to her. He refused to give up on that small glimmer of hope.  ou for your  “Thank kindness, Mr. Ford, but I have my own car. I can drive  myself.” Samantha smiled and shook the keys in her hand. Then, she turned around and headed toward her garage.  She wasn’t the woman she used to be. She would not attach herself to Kendrick like she did years ago. Back then, Kendrick was disgusted by her. Now, her disgust for him was correspondent.  The two of them arrived at the company one after another. When Samantha entered Kendrick’s office, she saw a gorgeous woman already seated there.  It was Linda.  Samantha stood by the door and paused.  “It seems like now is an inconvenient time for you. I can drop by another time.” Although her words seemed considerate, her tone was full of mockery.  +15 BONOS  “No need. Business is more important.” Kendrick insisted to her as he stepped into his office.  Since he did not mind, there was no point in being pretentious and hesitant. Moreover, Samantha was quite interested in Linda. She would never forget her voice.  Linda noticed Kendrick and immediately stood up to welcome him. When she noticed Kendrick entering with Samantha, her expression tensed.  She had gone to Ford Residence to wait for Kendrick to return. Now, Linda. thought it was no wonder that he did not go back home. He must have been busy with this woman! She remembered that Kendrick had been staring at the  woman’s photo yesterday. He had also hid it from her.  In an instant, Linda had cursed Samantha numerous times in her heart. However, a sweet smile remained plastered on her face.  She walked over to Kendrick and held his arm. She clung to him firmly and asked, “Kenny, where were you last night? I waited for you for so long.”  Samantha felt goosebumps rise as she heard Linda’s pretentious voice. She pretended to be unfazed and sat on the sofa. She smiled and greeted Jude, “Jude, could you get me a cup of coffee?”  Jude nodded. With Kendrick’s arrival, there was no longer a need for him to keep an eye on Linda. He turned to leave the office.  “Why did you come to the office so early?” Kendrick glanced at Samantha. She didn’t seem to pay either of them any attention. He pushed Linda away and sat at his desk.  Linda answered, “I saw a pretty pink diamond necklace yesterday. I used your card to pay for it and brought it here to show you. I didn’t want you to think I was wasting your money.”  Linda glared at Samantha with hatred. From where they stood, Kendrick and Samantha were oblivious to her atOptions

Chapter 0017  Linda entered Kendrick’s office.  His head was bowed while he reviewed some documents. Jude stood before his table. He noticed her immediately and was about to greet her.  Linda immediately reached out and placed a finger on her red lips, gesturing for silence. Jude smiled but did not say anything.  As he had already noticed her, it was impossible for Kendrick not to have sensed her as well.  Linda approached his table and reached out to take the documents from his hand, but Kendrick easily dodged her extended hand,  Without sparing a single glance, he asked, “Why are you here?”  Linda pursed her lips and circled his table in dissatisfaction. Her soft body leaned against Kendrick as she asked, “Kenny, what are you looking at so seriously?”  “A document.” Kendrick placed the paper in his drawer as he spoke. He simultaneously pushed Linda off of him.  Having been shoved off in Jude’s presence, Linda was too embarrassed to lean on him again.  She felt indignant. Although she didn’t manage to catch the details of the entire document, she caught a clear glimpse of a picture of a woman. She looked similar to the woman who was touching up her makeup in the washroom.  Linda figured that it was another shameless bitch. No wonder she had to keep freshening up her makeup wherever she went.  Linda clenched her teeth and tugged Kendrick’s arm. She looked at him with bright eyes. She said coyly, “Kenny, you haven’t kept me company for a long time. Would you like to have dinner tonight?”  “I have some business to attend to. You can ask Damien to accompany you and go shopping with you. Use my card to buy anything you want.” Kendrick stood up and took his wallet from his coat. He placed his credit card before Linda.  Although Linda was dissatisfied, she was still quite happy since she could use his credit card. She felt that this was a privilege that only his girlfriend would have.  There were so many different women by Kendrick’s side. But today, she got her hands on his card. It was a matter of time before she would become the lady of his  +15 BONOS  Linda concealed her calculating gaze. Kendrick did not notice it as he was getting ready to leave.  He requested Jude to arrange for the car and immediately left his office.  “Thanks, but I don’t want to.” Samantha had just rejected another guy from trying to flirt with her. She headed for the streets, walking in her high heels.  She had just gotten off the plane today. She intended to ask Kendrick to escort her back, but she hadn’t expected to see Linda enter his office. So, she decided to leave and call a taxi instead.  She could not stand watching them flirt in front of her. She might not be able to endure it and may end up confronting them.  However, it wasn’t easy to hail a ride at such a time. Samantha gritted her teeth and cursed Kendrick in her heart.  Suddenly, a black Maybach stopped before her. Samantha was slightly annoyed as she turned to move to a better position.  The window rolled down and a cold voice sounded out. “Ms. Meadows, why don’t I send you home?”  Samantha stopped walking. She turned around to see Kendrick’s cold and  indifferent expression. She wanted to reject his offer. Instead, she reached out to open the passenger door and entered.  She chastised herself. If she couldn’t even face him, getting revenge would be impossible. Samantha pursed her lips, and she looked upset.  Kendrick immediately knew what she was upset about. He explained, “I was about to arrange for someone to drive you home. However, Jude had a last minute errand to run. I also happened to be heading out, so I came

“Kenny’s in at the moment. I’ll swing by and spend some time with him shortly.”  It was enough to make Samantha stiffen and remain rooted to her spot. She recognized this voice.  In the eerie silence of the night, it was that gruesome scene that haunted her like a relentless nightmare.  No woman on earth would ever be able to come to terms with being mutilated. Even though she regained her beauty through plastic surgery, she didn’t feel like the reflection she saw in the mirror was truly hers.  Her eyes were covered by a piece of black fabric. It didn’t allow even the slightest sliver of light to penetrate.  She could not trust a single person. She felt everyone looking at her with  malicious smiles.  The blades rolled over her face layer by layer, like the scales of a venomous snake. She let out a wail, but no one paid her any attention. Soon after, her face was reduced into a bloody mess, unrecognizable even to herself.  A cold voice rhetorically asked, “Who do you think you are?”  Samantha conceded. She had a point. She was Samantha Duncan, a young lady who was blessed in life. Yet, it was all because she had chosen to love the wrong person that she was placed on such a tragic path.  Samantha screwed her eyes shut. She sank deep into the heavy, inescapable darkness.  However, the woman’s voice continued, “Oh, Mom, why are you in such a hurry? Kenny is at the peak of his career right now–of course he’s not eager to discuss. marriage. Can you have more consideration for his career?”  Through the mirror, Samantha sneaked a full view of the woman’s face. A layer of exquisite makeup caked her petite face. It was accentuated by curly locks that framed her face. She looked innocent and piteous. Those large, teary eyes that seemed eternally glossed over with a subtle sheen made her look especially so.  This face was familiar to Samantha. The woman soon stepped up beside her to wash her hands. Samantha quickly averted her gaze.  The person on the other end of the call couldn’t have sounded more pressing. Linda, you’re almost 25 now, and Kenny’s pushing 30. He got married once when  +15 BONOS  charming little vixens throw themselves at him?”  Samantha caught a glimpse of a twisted and rigid expression that only lasted for a split second. It was brief, as Linda swiftly spoke in a light–hearted tone.  “But Kenny’s heart is mine! No one will be able to steal him from me. That marriage from seven years ago was a mistake anyway. It’s not too late to fix it now.”  “Not too late? Linda, I’m not trying to criticize you, but if you like Kenny, you should seal the deal as soon as possible! Not only is he an outstanding man, but he’s also your father’s student. We know him well. Why else do you think I’m so confident about him?”  “I know, Mom. But I still want to spend a few more years exploring before tying the knot! Urgh, I’m done talking to you. Kenny’s here! I’m hanging up now.”  With that, she hung up the phone. Her delicate face held a touch of tension that distorted her features a little.  Linda looked like she was about to say something. But she ultimately said nothing when she noticed Samantha washing her hands for the last three minutes or so. She bit her lip and stomped out of the washroom.  Samantha turned off the tap and trailed behind her.  It seemed as though Kendrick’s good fortune in love remained the same over the years. It was only a few minutes ago when she was almost moved by his affectionate performance
