Chapter 22 Are You Just a Scumbag?  Medicine? Henry’s words set off the alarm bells in Natalie’s head.  She was pregnant right now; she couldn’t just take any medicine. It might affect her baby!  At the thought of this, Natalie immediately turned away. “I’m not taking it!” “Didn’t you say you were sick? Drink it!” Henry squeezed her chin to force her mouth open and tried to pour the medicine into her mouth.  Her acting was really pushing his buttons.  Natalie knocked the cup of medicine with her hand, and it fell to the ground. The cup shattered into pieces, and the medicine spilled all over the floor.  Henry stared at the spilled medicine on the ground. Then, he turned to look at Natalie. She refused to drink the medicine, and yet she said she was sick.  Natalie was terrible at keeping her act up.  “I’m telling you. That house will be gone in three days!” Henry articulated every word with an icy glare.  Each word was like a hammer, leaving a blow on Natalie’s heart. She shook her head. “No…”  “If you ask my grandparents to help you again, you’ll definitely regret it!” Henry gave her an indifferent look before leaving without looking back.  “Henry!” Natalie panicked. She wanted to get out of bed, but her head was spinning. What should she do?  She could tell that Henry was furious. He thought she was shamelessly using his grandparents to pull another trick, but that wasn’t what she was doing.  When Moira saw Henry coming downstairs, she asked, “How is Natalie? Did she take the medicine?”  “I have something else to do, so I’m leaving.” Henry walked straight toward the gate.  “But Natalie still isn’t feeling well. How can you leave her alone?”  Moira frowned, feeling frustrated. Her grandson was hopeless when it came to relationships.  “It’s not like she’ll die!” Henry snapped, and soon, he disappeared out the gate.  +15 BONUS  “What the hell are you saying, you brat?” Owen held his head. He sighed, feeling a headache coming.  Harry persuaded, “Don’t waste your breath on Henry, Grandpa. I’ll find a way to persuade him about the issue with him and Natalie.”  “Well, I wouldn’t be this worried if he had a hint of your compassion.” Owen shook his head helplessly.  Harry pursed his lips and said, “You should take care of your health. Don’t worry about this.”  Meanwhile, Natalie tried to call Henry after he left, but he didn’t answer the phone. He even turned off his phone later on.  She was distraught, but she could only force herself to rest.  She couldn’t even stand up now, so she couldn’t do much. Soon, she fell into a deep sleep, probably because she was sick and tired.  After resting for a few hours, she felt much better. She returned to Leslie’s residence after saying goodbye to Owen and Moira. Only then did she send a string of messages to Henry.  “Where are you? Let’s just talk about this! Henry, please. I beg of you. Don’t touch that house!  “I’ll do whatever you want! I beg you! I’m being serious! That house is very important, both to me and my father!  “Don’t turn off your phone! At least let me contact you, okay?”  Natalie had already greatly humbled herself. But the next day, she saw a piece of  news.  “Henry Chase is on a tryst with Ms. Weaver on a resort island. Will Mrs. Chase be knocked out of the picture?”  In the photo, Juliet wore a swimsuit showing her beautiful figure, walking on the beach with Henry. That picture was beautifully taken.  However, Natalie gritted her teeth at the sight of this photo.  She stayed up all night, worried that her house would be demolished, but he was enjoying a relaxing vacation with his first love on a resort island. This was  ridiculous!  She should really just divorce him at this point!  +15 BONUS  Natalie couldn’t sit still any longer. So, she used her phone to book a boat ticket to the resort island.  The resort island was a well–known tourist attraction in this city. It was located in the middle of the sea and could be reached by boat.  During the season, there was a pleasant sea breeze, and the scenery was also beautiful. However, Natalie didn’t intend to admire it.  After arriving on the island, she rushed straight to the best hotel. She knew that Henry came to this island for a vacation every year.  He had his own suite in this hotel. If Natalie recalled correctly, the room number was 0709. It was said that he picked this room because it was Juliet’s birthday.  When she arrived at the hotel entrance, she saw a group of reporters gathered there. However, security guards stopped them, and they couldn’t go in at all.  These reporters were probably waiting to interview Henry and Juliet.  Natalie lowered her head and walked into the hotel lobby from the side. Then, she checked in at the front desk.  She had to admit that the room rates were eating up a huge chunk in her savings. But she could only pay the fees with gritted teeth just so she could meet up with Henry in the hotel. Chapter 21 It Doesn’t Matter Who She Allies With  Harry patted Henry’s shoulder good–naturedly. “You should also try your best to have a child with Natalie! That would make Grandpa and Grandma happy!”  Henry’s expression darkened at the conversation they were having.  His tone was cold as he declared, “I will never have a child with her.”  Harry frowned. “Why would you say that?”  “Because I would never allow her to have my child,” Henry said determinedly.  Even Harry couldn’t figure out how to continue this conversation.  From Henry’s point of view, a woman like Natalie could never be a good mother.  Once she had a child with him, she would probably use the child as a pawn to gain more power over him.  He would never allow such a thing to happen.  Suddenly, the sound of Henry’s phone ringing cut through the silent tension in the car.  Henry took out his phone and saw that Owen was calling him.  He picked up the call without another thought. “Hello Grandpa, Harry and I are-  He was interrupted by Owen’s angry voice coming from the other end, “Come home right now! I have something to discuss with you!”  After that, Owen hung up on him.  Henry frowned. He had no idea why Owen was so upset at him.  Not long later, their car arrived at the Chase residence. Henry walked a few steps behind Harry as they entered the house.  Even though both of them were brothers, how they carried themselves was completely different.  Harry was a friendly and easy–going man. His personality was like a warm, flowing river that captured the hearts of everyone he talked to.  On the other hand, Henry was like an icy mountain. He always had a stoic expression on his face, which made others afraid to approach him.  “Harry? Did you just return from your business trip? Why didn’t you inform us?”  +15 BONUS  Owen and Moita had originally looked upset, but their expressions brightened once they saw Harry.  Harry took out the gifts he had bought for them and presented them. “These are supplements I bought when I was abroad.  “I heard that these are good for boosting the immune system. Make sure to eat. them as prescribed!”  “You don’t have to buy us supplements, you know!” Moira chided him half- heartedly.  Then, she called for Greta, “Greta! Go prepare some food for dinner!”  “Understood, Mrs. Chase Senior,” Greta answered with a smile as she entered the  kitchen.  “Harry, take a seat first. I have something to discuss with Henry,” Owen said as he turned his attention to Henry.  Henry remained silent at first but was unnerved by Owen’s piercing glare. Ultimately, he relented and asked, “What do you have to say to me?”  “You rascal! When will you finally let me rest?” Owen roared as he swung hist cane at him.  Henry was confused as he dodged the incoming attack. “What did I do now?”  “Who allowed you to touch the Shepherd family home?” Owen asked in a low  tone.  It was just a question, but it made Henry stiffen.  Natalie really did know how to pick her allies!  However, it didn’t matter who she picked to rely on this time. It wouldn’t work!  Owen glared at Henry as he got up angrily. “I’m telling you, Henry! If you dare to lay a finger on the Shepherd family home, you will regret it!  “I was good friends with Natalie’s grandfather! Now that he’s no longer alive, I will protect his property for him!”  He was determined to make Henry drop this matter, but Henry remained silent in response to his outburst.  The atmosphere was getting tense, so Harry chimed in anxiously, “Henry, say something! I’m sure this is just a misunderstanding, right?”  Moira didn’t want Owen to fight with Henry as well. “Henry, please say something! Don’t anger your grandfather even more!”  +15 BONUS  Henry begrudgingly replied, “Grandpa, let’s just drop this matter. I know what I’m doing.”  Owen’s expression paled after that. He clutched at his chest before he collapsed onto the couch.  Harry and Moira rushed to Owen’s side. The latter’s tone was tinged with worry.” Owen! Are you alright?”  “Grandpa, don’t get so worked up!” Harry added.  Henry felt his heart ache as he watched his grandfather worriedly.  Owen’s eyes were filled with fury as he shouted, “If you don’t want me to drop dead right now, then go deliver Natalie’s medicine to her! Do you know she’s suffering a high fever right now?”  Moira turned to face Henry and shot him a look. “Go! Why are you still

Chapter 20 It’s Just Another One of Her Tricks  “Don’t you think she deserves to be punished for losing something she wasn’t meant to lose?” Henry asked haughtily.  Leonard’s smile widened. “So, from what I’m hearing, it seems like you wanted her to stay married to you?”  Surprisingly, Henry seemed at a loss for words at Leonard’s teasing.  What was he really upset about?  Was he only upset because Natalie disregarded how well his grandparents treated her?  Or was it because of something else?  “Are you sure you haven’t somehow developed feelings for her amidst all your hatred?” Leonard asked teasingly.  Leonard laughed before he continued, “Some people have a way of sneaking into your life without you even noticing! Honestly, Henry, I’m curious what your would be like as a lovesick fool.”  Henry shot him a scathing glare. Somehow, he felt even more frustrated after talking to Leonard.  “Fuck off! That’s impossible!”  He had vowed to never fall in love again!  Henry had already been abandoned by a woman once. He would not allow another woman the chance to abandon him.  Leonard simply nodded knowingly.  Some day, Henry would definitely regret what he said.  Natalie searched for the ring for a long time but couldn’t find it. In the end, she decided that there was no use wasting her time in the field any longer.  As such, she went to the bathroom and washed off the dirt from her hands before.  she left.  Perhaps someone had found the ring and took it with them. If that was the case, how was she supposed to find it?  It was like searching for a needle in a haystack!  15  +15 BONUS  Just as she was lamenting her current situation, her phone rang.  It was from the prison … The prison!  Natalie hurriedly picked up the phone. Her heart was beating fast as she spoke, ” Hello?”  “Is this Ms. Natalie Shepherd?” the person on the other end asked.  “Yes!”  “I’m sorry to say that your father still doesn’t want to meet you,” the person said regretfully.  Natalie felt her heart sink.  Three years… For three years, she had asked countless times to meet, but her father would heartlessly refuse her every single time.  “Alright, I understand. Thank you.” Natalie said gloomily.  The warden continued, “However, due to your father’s good behavior in prison, he will be released next month. Then, you will be able to see him.”  Natalie’s eyes brightened. “Really? Is he being released earlier than expected? Did you say next month?”  “That’s right, we will let you know once he’s released.”  “That’s great! Thank you so much!”  Even after the call had ended, Natalie could not hide the smile on her face. She started tearing up as well.  She was finally going to reunite with her father! Then, she could finally ask him all the questions that had been eating away at her since he was arrested!  But the house  Natalie wrung her hands anxiously. She had to settle the matter of the house as soon as possible!  She didn’t want her father to see their house become a wasteland when he got out of prison.  However, she also knew deep down that the chances of her finding the ring were  slim.  Instead of wasting her time on something that she could never find, she should try a more practical approach instead.  +15 BONUS  After contemplating, she fished out her phone and called Henry.  Henry picked up the phone after a while. “Did you find the ring?”  Natalie didn’t beat around the bush and asked bluntly, “What if I can’t find the ring?”  “I think you know full well what the consequences would be,” Henry drawled.  Natalie’s heart clenched.  “Can we change the conditions? I might not be able to… find the ring…” she negotiated cautiously.  “So? You were so determined to get rid of the ring the other day,” Henry said mockingly.  Natalie opened her mouth to speak but couldn’t come up with anything to say. 

Chapter 19 I Want to Make You My Sister–In–Law  Henry knew deep down that Natalie would never be able to find that ring.  That was because he had the ring.  She was the one who had given up on their marriage, so he wanted her to know the consequences!  Natalie was stunned by his request.  The staff members from the charity gala never called her back, which meant that they didn’t manage to find the ring either. So…  “Henry, you were the one who threw the ring away. Why do I have to find it? Where am I even supposed to find it?” Natalie asked impatiently.  So this  s was what he meant when he said he would give her another chance?  He was clearly making things difficult for her!  Henry ignored the fury in Natalie’s eyes and said nonchalantly, “If you had bothered to search for the ring that day, it wouldn’t be lost, would it? Have you ever tried looking for it?”  There was a faint glimmer of hope underneath the frosty gaze he was shooting her. As long as she said that she had gone to search for it, he could forgive her.  All he needed from her right now was an answer.  “I…”  Of course, she had!  But she couldn’t possibly tell him that. If she did, he would think she didn’t mean it when she asked for a divorce.  Besides, what did it matter if she did search for it? It wasn’t as if he would care.  “I will try looking for it tomorrow. Will you really stop the project if I find the ring?” Natalie asked.  However, Henry was contemplating her answer.  She would try to look for it. That meant that she had never tried looking for it before today!  She really was a cruel woman!  Moira treated her so well and even put the  ring on for her, yet she couldn’t care.  +15 BONUS  She didn’t even bother looking for it after Henry threw it that night! Henry’s expression grew frostier as he said, “I’m giving you three days. If I don’t see the ring by then, you can watch that piece of land go to ruin!”  Three days…  Though it was a reasonable amount of time, Natalie was well aware that her chances of finding the ring were extremely low.  However, it wasn’t as if she had any other choice, so she could only agree.  Henry shot her another uninterested look and got into his car before speeding off into the night.  Just as he left, another flash of lightning appeared in the night sky. This was all the warning she got before it started raining.  Natalie scrambled to find a place to take shelter from the rain. Then she took her phone out and booked an e–hailing taxi.  Even though it was already April, she could still feel the cold night wind in her bones, and it was especially cold on rainy nights like these.  By the time Natalie made it back home, her clothes were all soaked.  She hadn’t brought an umbrella, so she was forced to run to the house from the residential area’s gateway in the pouring rain.  Leslie rushed to her side when she saw the condition she was in. drenched? Go take a hot shower! It’ll be bad if you catch a cold!”  w are yoOU  Natalie agreed.  She went to the bathroom and took a quick shower to warm herself up.  Leslie walked into the bathroom as Natalie was blow–drying her hair. “Are you done?”  “Almost.”  “How did you get yourself into this mess?”  “Well, it’s a long story,” Natalie simply replied. She didn’t really want to talk about it.  She had always thought that Henry would sign the divorce papers without another thought. But who would’ve expected that he would make such a big fuss?  +15 BONUS  Leslie could tell that Natalie was feeling down and wiggled an eyebrow at her. “I want to show you something.”  Natalie turned off the hairdryer and looked at her curiously. “What is it?”  Leslie slammed the form she had been hiding behind her back onto the vanity table gleefully. “You can see for yourself!”  Natalie scanned the form, and when she realized what she was looking at, her eyes brightened.  “Is this real?”  Leslie’s lips slowly curved into a smile. “Of course.”  Natalie could barely contain her excitement. “How did you manage to get the entry form for

Chapter 18 Since When Have You Been So Obedient  “Go ahead and please me first,” Henry challenged with a raised eyebrow.  Natalie was sorely mistaken if she thought she had any sort of power over him or if she could live without him..  He was going to crush her hopes completely.  Natalie tried to keep her calm as she asked, “How do you want me to please you?”  Henry’s lips parted to answer, but before he could, he was interrupted by a voice coming from outside the car.  “Henry, I saw you at the party, but you disappeared. So this is where you ran off to…”  A woman with a delicate waist said as she walked over to them, but as her gaze landed on Natalie, she trailed off.  The woman narrowed her eyes at Natalie, and there was barely hidden hostility in her eyes.  She asked cautiously, “Henry, who’s this?”  She had known Henry for three years, but she had never seen that woman around him!  Besides, Natalie was also considered quite a beauty. Other women would often keep their guard up around her.  Natalie remained silent. She wanted to hear how Henry would introduce her to  that woman.  Henry cast a lazy glance at Natalie before he answered casually, “My assistant.”  His assistant.  Natalie’s expression remained unchanged, but her heart ached at how he introduced her.  Was she such an embarrassment to him that he couldn’t even introduce her to his friends as his wife? Did he only think that she was fit to be his assistant?  Regardless, they were about to get divorced, so she didn’t need to ponder over the unpleasant emotion she felt.  The woman grinned in satisfaction. “I see. Then, let’s go to the restaurant over there for dinner. I’m hungry.”  +15 BONUS  Henry stared long and hard at Natalie before he agreed, “Okay.”  The woman broke out into another radiant smile and walked up to him. “Let’s go!.  The both of them walked side–by–side before Henry realized that Natalie wasn’t walking with them.  He stopped in his tracks and turned his cold gaze to Natalie. “Why are you still standing there?”  “I’d only be a third wheel if I accompanied you to dinner with her,” Natalie answered calmly.  Henry scoffed coldly. “Third wheel? You’re just a mere assistant; you think too highly of yourself!”  Natalie’s heart clenched despite her best efforts to remain unfazed. She could. only follow Henry and the woman obediently.  Only then did Henry walk to the restaurant with that woman.  Natalie followed wordlessly behind them as if she was actually his assistant. She was sure that if she kept up this act, she could please him.  If she didn’t need Henry to agree to her request, she wouldn’t have listened to him in the first place!  Henry ordered some food after they entered the restaurant. The service in the restaurant was excellent, so their food arrived shortly after they placed their order.  The woman suddenly put down her cutlery and studied her manicure, which she had just gotten done.  She raised her head to look at Henry before she said, “Henry, do you mind if I get your assistant to help me shell the prawns?”  Natalie frowned slightly. This woman really knew how to order others around!  Henry turned his head to Natalie and ordered expressionlessly, “Didn’t you hear her? Go shell the prawns for her!”  The woman’s smile widened as she cooed, “Oh, Henry, you’re so nice to me!”  At the same time, she secretly surmised that Natalie was indeed Henry’s assistant based on his attitude toward her.  Henry’s gaze was still on Natalie even after he gave her his order. He studied her  +15 BONUS  She had always been dignified, so she would probably say no.  In fact, he wanted her to say no!  At least it would make him feel she still cared that he was nice to other women.  At least it would mean that she wasn’t acting when she said that she liked him.  back then.  At least it would mean that she wasn’t fake!  However, Natalie always made decisions that disappointed him.  Natalie plastered a joyous expression as she agreed good–naturedly, “Alright, but my hands are quite dirty. I’ll go wash my hands first, and then I’ll shell the prawns for you!”  After that, she turned and went into the bathroom.  Henry was practically fuming at her response.  That woman could also tell that Henry was in a bad mood. She asked cautiously, Henry, what’s wrong?”  Henry didn’t answer. Instead, he pursed his lips together in a thin line. 

Chapter 17 The Best Way to Please a Man  Henry did not even spare a glance at Natalie.  Natalie anxiously wrung her hands together. Henry seemed to be determined to make things difficult for her.  “That’s enough talking. Start the game,” Henry drawled as he exhaled a puff of cigarette smoke.  It was as if Natalie didn’t even exist to him.  However, Natalie was stubborn as well. She smiled as she said, “Mr. Chase, I can wait. We can talk again once you’re free.”  The gentlemen seated around Henry hadn’t expected her to be so stubborn.  One of the men teased, “Henry, does your wife know you’re such a ladies man?”  Henry’s eyebrow raised slightly at that, and an indecipherable look flashed across his face briefly.  However, none of the gentlemen noticed it and continued to tease, “His wife? How could that woman be considered his wife?  “Also, so what if she knows that he’s a ladies‘ man? That woman isn’t important, so it’s not like Henry would care either.”  The gentlemen never would’ve expected that the unimportant woman they were talking about was seated at the table with them and could hear everything they were saying about her.  However, such insults were nothing new to her, and she was completely unphased.  This was because she knew deep down that she was nobody to Henry. If that was the case, why did she still need to waste her emotions on him?  Leonard watched both of their expressions intently. If these fools kept talking, it would definitely end in a disaster.  He immediately chimed in, “I’ll start the game now!  The men dropped the topic once the game started.  Meanwhile, Natalie remained as still as a statue next to Henry throughout the  game.  Henry also seemed distracted. In fact, he was so distracted that he lost.  +15 BONUS  “Henry, what’s on your mind? You’ve never lost a match, and yet today you lost!  one of the men exclaimed in disbelief.  They all knew that it was virtually impossible to win against Henry in a card. game. Yet today…  Henry tossed his cards back onto the table, looking irritated. His expression was thunderous.  Everyone was afraid to offend him. Eventually, someone piped up, “I bet it’s this woman who’s causing all of your bad luck!!  Natalie turned to look indignantly at the man who just spoke, though she remained silent.  What did that bastard just say? Why was she at fault for Henry losing his game?  That man turned to face her and shouted angrily, “Leave! If you don’t, I’ll get security to kick you out!”  Henry lowered his gaze as if he couldn’t hear the commotion.  He was indeed annoyed, but not because he lost the game.  He was annoyed because though he was good at keeping his mind clear from distractions, he couldn’t keep his mind clear when Natalie was around.  It was ridiculous!  “Leave! Why are you still here? Do you really want to get thrown out by the security like trash?” the man continued angrily.  Natalie looked at Henry, but deep down, she knew he wouldn’t care about her. As such, she could only change to a more aggressive tactic.  At that thought, Natalie stood up and left the table..  However, she didn’t leave the hall. Instead, she stopped to talk to a man.  This didn’t go unnoticed by Henry. He lit another cigarette, but his grip on the cigarette was so tight that he nearly snapped it in half.  What did Natalie think she’s doing? He was still here!  How could she just shamelessly flirt with another man while he was still around? To make matters worse, the both of them were hitting it off.  Leonard watched Henry’s expression like he was watching a play and whispered, “Serves you right for ignoring her. Now that she’s … I bet you’re feeling really bad right now, right?”  276  +15 BONUS  “Get lost!” Henry hissed as he shoved Leonard away.  Henry then turned to look at Natalie again, but she was already on the dance floor with that man.  Natalie wore a bright smile as she danced with the other man. She was practically grinning from ear to ear.  The sight of them dancing made Henry’s heart ache.  Eventually, he couldn’t take it anymore and tossed his lit cigarette into the  ashtray. After that, he got up and stalked toward the dance floor. 

Chapter 16 Glory Days  Trevor surveyed his surroundings before turning back to Natalie with a look of pity. “Just a piece of advice, if I may.  “Stop wasting your time and energy on your hobbies. You should just go back and appease Mr. Chase.”  Natalie clenched her fists in anger at his words. “Is he threatening you for this?”  Trevor sighed in response. “Mr. Chase has made it clear that assisting you in any way whatsoever would be seen as a betrayal to him and the Blue Ocean Group. I don’t think anyone would dare offend him.”  The Blue Ocean Group was founded by Henry. In just a few years, it became a major player in the business world.  As a result, Henry was acclaimed as the king of the business world. Few would have the gall and capabilities to try and offend Henry.  Natalie bit down on her bottom lip in anger. She couldn’t believe that Henry would be so despicable.  “I hope you understand my situation. There’s no way I can help you.” Trevor left in a hurry to avoid being implicated.  Natalie wasn’t ready to give up yet. She refused to believe that Henry was as invincible as Trevor had claimed.  She went home and prepared her resume and relevant documents.  The next day, Natalie headed out for interviews with various companies.  But no matter which company she went to, the result was the same.  Interviewers immediately rejected her application when they saw her name. “I’m sorry, but we can’t hire you.”  Natalie didn’t even oppose their decision because she already knew the reason behind it all. She was mentally strained as she exited the company.  It seemed that Henry was dead set on ruining her life. His goal was to leave her out of options so that she would go back to him, begging for forgiveness.  Natalie steeled her resolve once more. Henry’s threats would not break her.  She would definitely be able to land a job to live her own life freely!  However, dreams are just an escape from reality. Her fantasies for a peaceful  +15 BONUS  “Ms. Shepherd, I’m calling to notify you about the house as you instructed.”  Her heart started pounding fast. “What happened?”  The caller replied, “The Blue Ocean Group has expressed their interest in the entire plot of land surrounding the house.”  “What?” Natalie gripped her phone tightly.  The Blue Ocean Group … This meant that it was Henry’s doing.  She refused to believe that Henry just so happened to be interested in that particular plot of land.  “The Blue Ocean Group has made a generous offer, and so the majority had already signed their agreement on proceeding with the demolition.”  Natalie had sold the house reluctantly three years ago to settle the debts when the Shepherd family was bankrupted.  She had always hoped to reclaim the house when she could finally afford it.  She had made agreements with the tenants since then to inform her about anything concerning the house.  The house held Natalie’s precious memories. She shared the sentiment with her father on how much the house meant to their family.  Daniel had always emphasized that the house was a safe haven for his wife and daughter, that it was their home.  Natalie always wanted to protect the house for her father’s sake.  The caller continued, “They made an offer I can’t really refuse… so I’ve also signed up.”  Natalie acknowledged that the tenants had every right to do whatever they wanted after they bought the house.  Moreover, the Blue Ocean Group would never give up on their target.  She could not stop the tenants from signing the deal and going against the Blue Ocean Group alone.  Natalie took some time to regain her composure before replying, “I understand. Thank you for remembering my request and letting me know about this.”  As she hung up, Natalie felt she could barely breathe. It was as though an invisible weight was weighing down on her right now.  +15 BONUS  She wondered if meeting up with Henry was her only option.  Hence, she begrudgingly called Henry with her phone. However, the call never connected.  Natalie decided to send him a message instead. “Where are you? We need to talk.” Time slowly passed as she stared at her phone, waiting for a reply. She realized that she could not be sitting around like this.  Natalie made another call, this time to Wade. “Hello? Mr. Levine? What’s Henry’s schedule for the day?”  “I’m sorry. I can’t disclose Mr. Chase’s itinerary to anyone, not even you.”  Natalie started panicking as she was worried that the Blue Ocean Group might have already finalized the demolition as she waited.  Her tone was anxious. “Mr. Levine, I have something important to discuss with Henry right now! Just tell me his current location! I won’t mention that it was you.”  Wade hesitated for a moment. “If it’s that urgent, then head over to Regal Manor. Mr. Chase is there for a party tonight.”  Natalie was relieved. “Thank you.”  She understood that the matter would not be resolved right after they met up. But at the very least, she finally saw a glimmer of hope. 

Chapter 15 Incomparable  Natalie’s thoughts were interrupted as Henry came up to her side.  He scanned her from head to toe, a mixture of unknown emotions reflected in his eyes. “What are you doing in the maternity ward?”  Then, he noticed the pink wristband clutched in Natalie’s hand. “Whose  wristband is this?”  Natalie subconsciously tightened her grip on the wristband.  Typically speaking, patients had to wear color–coded wristbands so that the medical staff could identify them. There were small written tags with the patients  personal information included on the wristbands.  Since Natalie was the patient, her information was recorded on the wristband’s tag. On one hand, she was lucky to not have worn it yet. On the other hand, she had to prevent Henry from seeing the tag.  Natalie tried her best to answer calmly, “I’m accompanying my friend for her checkup. I’m just holding on to the wristband for her at the moment. What about you? You’re the real odd one out in here.”  Henry stared at her, as if looking for the answer that lay past her calm act.  All Natalie could do was try to keep her cool.  Henry, who had always been observant, never believed a single word of her excuse. “Show me the wristband.”  “What’s so interesting about someone else’s wristband?” Natalie shot back while trying to sound amused. “Don’t tell me you’re thinking that I’m here for a prenatal checkup?”  Henry continued to study her.  Natalie felt suffocated from being stared upon like prey.  Luckily, Leslie was already on her way to the maternity department. “Hey, Natalie! You got my wristband, right?”  Natalie realized that Leslie was trying to get her out of the predicament.  She nodded in response. “Yeah, it will be your turn soon.”  “Thanks, Natalie!” Leslie moved to Natalie’s side before finally looking at Henry. “Oh, Mr. Chase! What a coincidence to see you here.”  1/5  +15 BONUS  Henry chose to ignore Leslie completely.  Leslie scanned the place before mocking him, “You almost seem like a model husband accompanying his wife for a maternity checkup, huh?”  Natalie quickly noticed that Henry was furrowing his brows coldly.  She definitely didn’t want any trouble brewing at this time.  “Let’s go,” said Natalie as she pulled Leslie by the arm.  Only then did Leslie turn away from Henry as she followed Natalie toward the inner corridors.  Henry stood still as his eyes trailed on Natalie.  Did Natalie really show up here just to accompany Leslie during the latter’s prenatal check–up?  But his doubts soon disappeared.  He quickly concluded that Natalie would have made the news of her pregnancy public if she were truly pregnant.  He saw no reason for her not to use her pregnancy to her own benefit.  With his doubts answered, Henry turned around and walked down the opposite corridor.  Earlier today, Harry Chase, also known as Henry’s older brother, had called him. It turned out that Harry’s wife had pregnancy complications, but Harry was still out on a business trip. So, Henry was requested to drop by the hospital and visit his sister–in–law.  He never expected to run into Natalie, of all people, here,  The coincidental encounter with Henry left Natalie with lingering fear. “Thank you for coming to my aid… I don’t know what could have happened otherwise.” “But Natalie… You can’t hide it when your belly starts to show, you know?” Leslie worriedly glanced at Natalie’s belly.  Natalie looked down on her belly and smiled. “I’ll think about it when the time comes.”  Juliet had just stepped into a high–end restaurant when she recognized a familiar figure. It was Owen,  +15 BONUS  She was fearful of him from the start.  Still, she slowly strutted toward Owen and greeted him, “Hello, Mr. Chase Senior.”  “Don’t call me that.” Owen’s attitude toward Juliet had always been unfriendly.  He could tell that Juliet loved money and other materialistic goods more than Henry himself. Still, she acted as though she was head over heels for Henry.  She was a classic, textbook example of a pretentious bitch..  Juliet was embarrassed by his dismissal. “Why did you invite me here, Mr. Chase Senior?”  Owen threw a stack of photos in

Chapter 14 Spooked Out  +15 BONUS  “Hello? Leslie, is that you? We should postpone the singles party I’ve asked your to help with. Let’s just say there are some hiccups… which is why I didn’t go through with the divorce.” Natalie let out a regretful sigh.  As she spoke these words, her gaze was locked onto Henry at the door.  She could feel his anger emanating from every fiber of his being.  She knew that he must be beyond enraged due to her deliberately chosen choice of words on the phone call.  Natalie hoped the divorce would go smoothly if she made him hate her even more.  Henry left in the next moment. He shut the door behind him with a loud bang.  Natalie’s heart also trembled with the loud noise, followed by sheer emptiness.  She genuinely wished that she never had to quarrel with someone she had loved for a decade. She would have preferred to be in comfort and peace with her partner for their lifetime.  “Natalie? Hello? What the hell are you talking about? I didn’t understand a single word!” Leslie’s confusion finally snapped Natalie back to her senses.  Natalie cleared her throat and answered, “Nothing happened, Leslie. Just pretend you never heard anything.”  “Okay… Well, I’m calling to tell you that I’ll be home tomorrow morning. We’ll think about the competition together when I’m back, okay?” replied Leslie enthusiastically.  Leslie had called Natalie to check on her and help ease her nerves a little.  A warm feeling flowed through Natalie as she thanked Leslie for her consideration.  “You’re welcome, Natalie. The most important thing for you right now is to get plenty of sleep and take care of both yourself and your baby, alright? Oh, yeah, the doctor asked you to go for a follow–up check–up tomorrow, right?”  “Yeah. I’m going there tomorrow afternoon.”  “Perfect. I’ll come with you.  Meanwhile, the mood in Henry’s car was dampened by his displeasure.  The driver glanced at Henry through the rearview mirror several times. Every  +15 BONUS  ………….  Henry was really in a very bad mood.  Natalie’s words continued to echo in his ears.  How dare she look so remorseful just because she couldn’t get a quick divorce with him!  Was she that set on getting rid of him?  To think that she was preparing for an afterparty before the divorce was even finalized!  The more Henry thought about it, the more suffocated he felt.  “Mr. Chase, we’ve arrived,” the driver sheepishly reminded Henry, who was still immersed in his thoughts.  Only then did Henry turn his gaze away from the window.  They had arrived at the neighborhood where Juliet lived. He came here to confirm something with her.  He pulled out his phone and called Juliet. “Are you  you home?”  This was the first time he took the initiative to call her. Juliet was understandably excited.  “Yup!”  “Meet me at the entrance  Henry then ended the call. He exited and leaned on the car as he lit up a cigarette.  His appearance and charisma were undoubtedly outstanding. Nearby passersby could not help but gawk at his figure.  Juliet gave out a wide smile when she finally saw him.  In the end, Henry couldn’t resist meeting her. She knew that he still had feelings for her.  “Henry…”  But all of her hopes were quickly crushed by his reply.  “What sort of photos did you send to Natalie?” Henry questioned.  Juliet was caught off guard by the sudden question. Still, she pretended to be confused. “Photos? What photos?”  +15 BONUS  Henry remained silent as he continued to stare at her coldly. His piercing gaze was more than enough to send shivers down one’s spine.  Juliet decided to confess. “Yes, I did send her some photos. But I… I just wanted to help you, alright?  “I’m only giving a little push to convince Natalie to proceed with the divorce! Isn’t this what you’ve always wanted, Henry?” 

Chapter 13 Begging for Another Chance  Natalie remained seated on the bench with Owen, who was still gravely worried.  The doctor took off his surgical mask and calmly explained, “The operation is a success. The patient is currently awake, and her condition is stable.  ‘As for whether there is any damage to her brain, we will need some time to observe her. If there aren’t issues with her, we’ll arrange for her discharge.”  The good news finally brought everyone some peace.  “Thank you so much!” Henry thanked the doctor sincerely.  “You may visit her in her room.” The doctor nodded at everyone before leaving.  Owen finally let out a long sigh of relief. “Thank god… I don’t know what I would’ve done-”  Natalie quickly interrupted his depressed remarks, “Grandpa, everything is fine! Let’s go see Grandma right away.”  “Alright.”  On their way to Moira’s ward, Owen began to speak about his regrets. “Did your know that I actually wronged Moira in the past, Natalie?”  Natalie frowned slightly in confusion.  Didn’t Owen shower Moira with love and care all his life? How was it possible for him to have ever wronged her?  Owen smiled bitterly and continued, “I never cherished her presence when we were young. I’d taken so many things for granted back then.  “It was already late by the time I realized that our time together was slipping  If I could do it all over again… I would like to give her a better life.”  away.  Owen might be telling his story in an impassive tone, but Natalie still found herself moved by his words greatly.  She truly envied the unitional love Owen and Moira had for each other.  Natalie believed that Henry must have also heard Owen’s words.  She glanced at him, but she couldn’t tell what his emotions were like after listening to Owen’s story.  If only Henry had just one–tenth of the love Owen had for Moira… Then Natalie  +15 BONUS  They stayed by Moira’s bedside for a while before Owen dismissed them.  As the couple left, Owen specifically called out to Henry. “Make sure Natalie gets home safely.”  The moment they walked out of the hospital’s entrance, Natalie said, “Henry.”  Henry slowly turned around and spoke up with a cold tone, “Are you still thinking about getting a divorce?”  He might strangle her on the spot if she still had the gall to bring it up at a time like this.  Natalie shook her head. “That’s not it. I just wanted to tell you that I can go home by myself.”  She wasn’t so vile as to mention divorce at a time like this.  She understood that Moira would need some time to recover.  Discussion about their divorce would only negatively affect Moira’s recovery.  Henry turned away from Natalie and replied, “I’m not giving you any chances to complain about my actions to Grandpa.”  “I’m not going to make a fuss over such a trivial matter.” Natalie frowned in  response.  Did Henry seriously think of her as a petty woman this whole time?  “Enough! Just get in the car!” Henry impatiently glanced at her.  Natalie decided to say nothing more about it.  She got into the car and gave the address of her current residence to the driver.  Upon arriving at the security gate at Tranquil Heights, Natalie got out of the car without saying goodbye to Henry.  She figured that there was no need for friendly farewells if he hated her so much.  To her surprise, Henry followed suit by getting out of the car as well.  Natalie gave him a puzzled look, as if asking for his intention.  Henry then explained, “Grandpa had asked me to take you home safely, remember? So hurry up and lead the way already.”  Natalie thought he was just being thorough with his given task so as to prevent her from finding any faults.  +15 BONUS
