Chapter 14  “When are you going back?”  Celeste raised her head and caught his composed expression.  They’d been living together for eight years. Her love for him was like a blazing fire, yet still fail to melt his icebound heart. She wholeheartedly  immersed herself in a world revolving around him, so silly.  Celeste’s unusual reaction made Kendric realize something was amiss.  “How long are you going to keep throwing this tantrum?” a faint scowl  appeared on his face.  His words suddenly reminded Celeste of Sienna and others‘ words.  They said with just a look or a few words from Kendric, she’d obediently  grab her luggage and follow him back. She’d go back to the world where  everything revolved around him, where joy and pain were solely brought by  him.  Celeste gazed down at the gleaming floor. Every time she mopped it, she’d  remind herself to forget him.  Now, the floor was cleaned to the extend like pristine one, and her heart  had become a barren land.  Kendric’s gaze wandered around the room, “you like living in a place like  this?”  What did he mean ‘A place like this?”  What’s wrong with a place like this?  Redeemed From Caged Love  He sat on the couch, his hands casually resting on his lap, and assumed the  stance of a negotiator.  “No servants, no gourmet meals, no designer clothes. How could you get  used to it?”  His every word cut deep. All he was talking was about weighing the advantages and disadvantages, rather than her feelings, and their relationship.  As a businessman, his every decision was made through such calculation. How could this calculation be applied to a love thing? Celeste couldn’t fathom  Yet in Kendric’s eyes, it’s foolish for Celeste to give up luxurious  accommodations and opted to live in this modest apartment.  But because it was Celeste, he showed more patience.  “Just be a good girl.”  In the past, those words, “Be a good girl,” acted like a spell.  No matter how depressed, sad, or how much Celeste contemplated leaving  this man, as soon as he uttered those words, she would suppress her emotions  and obediently step into the cage he had built.  Now Celeste only felt like she’d been pricked all over, and all her love  seemed to evaporate.  “Kendric.”  He tilted his head.  Celeste summoned all her strength, “have you ever considered showing me  Redeemed From Caged Love  Chupte M4  any respect or getting to know me better?”  There was a momentary flicker of surprise in Kendric’s eyes. “Why would  you say that?”  Celeste chuckled at her own naive question. The answer is pretty obvious,  isn’t it?  If Kendric held even a speck of respect for her, Gavin Bates wouldn’t dare slap her, Ms. Quinn wouldn’t be treating her so harshly, and Ophelia wouldn’t  have the nerve to move into Melville family.  Kendric seemed a bit irritated, “what kind of respect you are asking for?”  Honestly, he didn’t like this side of Celeste. She was acting way out of character tonight. In the past, every time they met, she would cling to him, softly confessing how much she missed him. She would give him those sweet, heart–melting smiles and even close her eyes and tiptoe for a kiss.  None of that was happening tonight!  He really disliked her tantrums or her deliberate attempt to keep her  distance.  […]

Chapter 13  Celeste spent the whole day at the studio, busy with work.  In the blink of an eye, it was evening, and she didn’t return to Kendric’s  villa but went straight back to her own small apartment.  Upon arriving home, she tidied up the things she had brought from  Kendric’s home, especially her art supplies.  The sky grew darker.  With her empty stomach growling, she opened her phone and ordered some  takeout.  ****  When Kendric returned home in the evening, he only saw an empty  bedroom. Celeste didn’t come back.  He seemed quite uncomfortable, as he had been accustomed to receiving  her embrace and kisses as soon as he arrived home. But now all of that was  gone.  Kendric was somewhat agitated. He loosened his tie and furrowed his  brow. He was at his wit’s end with Celeste’s recent behavior.  Since last night, when he learned that Celeste had gone to a bar, he had  been restraining his anger. He disliked her showing up in occasions like a  nightclub, especially when it had eventually escalated to a visit to the police  station.  However, this displeasure had mostly disappeared after Celeste obediently  returned home with him. But today, she went to her rented apartment again!  Redeemned From Caped Love  Chapter 13  That lingering displeasure had reignited like adding fuel to the fire.  Kendric put on his coat and went out alone.  It was not yet ten o’clock when the doorbell rang.  Celeste was squatting in the bathroom, washing her paint palette. She  hurriedly washed her hands, ran barefoot out of the bathroom. The touch of the  cold floor sent shivers through her body.  She thought it was her takeout.  When she opened the door, she was surprised to see Kendric standing  outside.  Forrest Gump said life was like a box of chocolates, never know what you’re  gonna get. But at this moment Celeste felt like life wasn’t giving her a chocolate  but a grenade.  Who the hell could tell her why this man is standing outside her home?!  Her heart involuntarily sank. She was paralyzed by fear.  “Why are you here?”  Kendric was seething with anger on his way here, but when he saw  Celeste’s reaction, let’s just say he started feeling happy.  His smile showed he was in a good mood.  They silently stared at each other.  Kendric was waiting for Celeste to come over and give him a hug, just like  they used to do. But to his surprise, she didn’t move a step.  Redeemed From Caged Love  In this awkward standoff, he reluctantly took a step forward to close the  gap between them.  a step  However, Celeste unconsciously took back.  Kendric froze in his tracks as he noticed her subtle retreat. He looked at her  with puzzlement. A hint of displeasure flickered in his eyes- it’s the first time  Celeste rejected him. 

Chapter 12  Upstairs in the bedroom on the second floor, Kendric pushed open the door  while making a phone call.  Celeste was changing into her nightclothes and was caught off guard by his  abrupt entrance. Instinctively, she covered her half–naked body.  His gaze fell on her, and then shifted away..  Celeste breathed a sigh of relief. Celeste decided to discuss the breakup with  him once he finished his call.  As she was brushing her teeth, Kendric followed in again. His tall and sturdy figure made the spacious bathroom suddenly turned cramped.  Celeste noticed he put his suit back on. Was he planning to go out?  She rinsed her mouth and said, “I want a talk with you.”  Clearly, Kendric didn’t have time for this.  He adjusted his tie with one hand, and with the other, he pulled Celeste close, gently planting a kiss on her cheek.  Then, he stroked her soft hair, “I’m an emergency to handle. Be a good girl and wait at home.”  Celeste remained expressionless and silent. For the past two years, this  and conversations had been repeatedly showed up.  scena  Kendric was extremely occupied with his business affairs and family affairs. Melville Group couldn’t function without him, and neither could this family, but Celeste could.  „Chapter 12  She could stay at home, day after day, waiting for him, like a migratory bird  waiting for spring.  The sound of a car starting came from downstairs. A few seconds later, the  gate opened, and the car drove out.  Celeste looked at her reflection in the mirror, pale and downhearted.  Kendric’s perfunctory and insincere farewell kiss made her wake up to  reality.  In fact, whether they broke up or not was no longer important, as she had  never taken a crucial part in his heart.  After washing her face, Celeste returned to the bedroom.  The air in this villa was heavy. This family was like a cage, filled with the smell of dust. Celeste felt hard to breath.  Celeste had a night of nightmares.  Early the next morning, she had a splitting headache.  She watered the flowers she planted outside the yard, and then prepared to go to the studio,  Ophelia had been taken back by her brother this morning. Kendric had given the order last night, and no one dared to disobey his words.  When Ophelia left, Celeste was leaning against the corridor watching her.  Fate likes to play tricks on people. Just a week ago, it was Ophelia’s brother Gavin Bates, who stood in this very not woAT  ChapteM2  Now, a week later, Celeste stood right here watching Ophelia leave, but she  wasn’t gloating or anything.  She was the one to call it quits in her relationship with Kendric, so she still  had some dignity left. But, well, Ophelia humbly begged to stay.  At breakfast, Kendric’s car rolled into the courtyard. The big Maybach  roared like a bulldozer when it parked on the lawn.  back.  Celeste glanced outside for a second, then nonchalantly shifted her gaze  Kendric walked in with his entourage of brain trust who probably had stayed up whole night for overtime. It was a commonplace in family. Kendric might be arrogant, but he values and respects talents, and he usually brings his brain trust members back home and treats them breakfast.  While these elites usually didn’t spare Celeste more than a nod. As usual, they just walked past her and huddled around the dining table.  Seeing them pour in, Celeste had a few more bites of her food and got up to  leave.  “Wait.”  As soon as Kendric entered the dining room, he caught Celeste making a beeline for the stairs. And her breakfast was barely touched. He couldn’t help  but frown. “You’re hardly eating anything.”  “Yeah, I don’t have much appetite today.”  “Sit down and have something else.” 

Kendric came downstairs, and Ms. Quinn noticed he seemed ready to head.  out. She approached him, “where are you off to at this late hour?”  “I have something to deal with.” he replied while adjusting  cuff–links  US suit  Ms. Quinn wouldn’t expect Kendric to head out late at night, all alone, to  pick up Celeste.  Kendric’s assistants promptly located Celeste. Upon learning that she was  currently at the police station, Kendric’s expression turned stern. Especially  after he heard Gavin’s exaggerated version of story, his discontent grew even  stronger.  He decided to pick her up in personal.  His assistant made some investigation and figured out the situation. Celeste  was taken away by the cops because she didn’t have her identification with her,  and on the other hand, it was confirmed that she headed to the strip club.  Neither piece of information should be exposed to the public.  Kendric fiancée had gone to a strip club and caused enough trouble to get  herself arrested by the police. What a scandal.  Inside the car, Kendric’s expression was cold and intimidating.  “Celeste Alinsky.”  A police officer called her name from outside. “Come out. Your guardian is  here.”  Redeemed From Caged Love  ChapteM11  Celeste nearly stumbled. What? Her father was thousands of miles away.  Where did this guardian jumped out from?  Kendric brought Celeste’s passport, confirming her identity and age, and  then the police released her.  Kendric waited at the door.  As Celeste stepped out, she immediately met his intense gaze. In that  moment, she felt a sense of “A Moment in Time.” Kendric had been away on a  business trip for half a year, and this was their first meeting over the six  months.  It’s only that this place didn’t seem quite pleasant.  Last week, her breakup call had been intercepted by Kendric’s assistant. It’s  time for them to have a good talk and make thing clear  Kendric took big strides toward her. After such a long separation, this was their first reunion. He still wanted to touch her hand, but Celeste calmly dodged  his advances.  The atmosphere was slightly awkward and tense. Celeste passed by Kendric without making eye contact.  He followed behind her. His burning gaze fixed on her.  She had come out wearing only a tight top and a denim jacket over it. The night air was chilly. It gave her goosebumps. But then a thick coat was draped over her shoulders, and she raised her head to see Kendric holding her close.  “Get into the car.” He nudged her toward the car, and then instructed the driver to depart.  Inside the car, silence filled the space.  Halfway, Kendric finally sensed the atmosphere weird. He broke the ice,  “did you have fun at the nightclub?”  Celeste sneered. This was how he had always been. He didn’t ask her why  she had been at the police station or why she had gone to the nightclub. He  simply assumed she went to the clubs regularly.  “No fun.”  Clearly, that’s not the answer he wanna hear.  “You’re not going there next time. I don’t like it”  In the past, Kendric’s likes and dislikes were Celeste’s principles for doing 

Chapter 10  His eyes held a hint of playfulness and scrutiny, like he had caught a whiff  of prey. He approached Celeste with two drinks in hand.  Celeste was thoroughly repulsed by the sudden appearance of Gavin Bates,  and so was Gavin when he clearly saw Celeste’s face.  He stared at her pretty face for a few seconds, then drained his two drinks.  in one gulp.  “Why are you here?”  Gavin leaned on a nearby chair, looking like he could barely keep his balance. He exuded a strong scent of perfume mixed with alcohol, like he stunk from the bone.  Celeste covered her nose, her disdain obvious as she fanned the air.  This gesture infuriated Gavin. He was poised to push away Celeste. “Are you humiliating me?”  She slightly turned her body, avoiding his push.  The overwhelming smell of alcohol and this madman made Celeste sick. She turned around to leave.  Gavin Bates was still yelling from behind as she weaved through the crowd and vanished from sight. Pretty bad luck today to encounter with this jerk, Celeste thought.  Finally, it hit 11 o’clock, time for the show to begin, but Celeste felt drowsiness gradually devoured her mind.  The spotlight cast on the stage. A man dressed in green swaggered onto the  stage. With the beat, he instantly pulled off some flashy dance moves that got  the crowd cheering.  After that he declared, “everybody claps your hands. I know you have been waiting for this highlight moment. Let the show begin!”  “Shout for our muscle men strippers!”  “What?” Celeste blurted out with a widened mouth.  She would definitely beat the shit out of Sienna!  Sienna was throwing apologizing, pleading words to Celeste, yet her eyes couldn’t move away from the guys on the stage.  Since the show had already begun, Celeste had no choice but to ride it out. At least she’d never watched male strippers‘ show before. Today was an eye–opener, to say the least.  All these men strippers had sculpted, well–defined physique, and they weren’t shy about showing their muscles. Their opening act had the whole place going wild.  However, out of blue, the music screeched to a halt. In the next moment,  several uniformed cops stormed in.  Celeste swore she had never been this unlucky in her entire life.  Clearly, this was just the beginning of their troubles.  The cop gave her and Sienna a once–over and made them stand aside.  “please show your ID cards. Are you both adults?”  They nodded vigorously, “of course.”  Sienna handed over her driver’s license, and the cop glanced at Celeste. She  began fumbling in her pockets.  Her identification was thrown on the seat in the car.  “Sir, mine is in the car…”  “Oh, please. I’ve seen plenty of young girls like you. Under age, but dress up  like an adult and sneak out of home to strip club. Save your lies and call your  guardian here.”  Call her guardian? Her dad was a thousand kilometers away.  Despite all her explanations, the cop wasn’t buying it. Sienna said she. would fetch the identification for Celeste, but when she reached into her pocket, she panicked to find she’d lost her car key on the dance floor earlier.  They were hopelessly jinxed today.  The cop got stern, “still not gonna call? You want us to dig out your records?”  Celeste threw up both hands, “my dad’s not in this city. I’m really an adult.”  Ultimately, the cop didn’t slap on the cuffs but brought Celeste to the station to take a statement.  Sienna was haunted by guilty, “Cely, I will have my brother come to get you right now.  Celeste nodded.  Gavin and his friends were regulars at the club. After a couple of questions from the cops and flashing their identifications, they walked free.  ChapteMo  Gavin shot her a wicked smile, “Celeste, look how embarrassed you are. I 

Chapter 09  Back in her cozy apartment, Celeste kicked off her high heels and slumped  onto the couch.  The chat with Luke just now ruined her good moods. Though she repeatedly  told herself to stay optimistic and focus on her own life. They would sooner or  later learned her determination to leave.  But deep down, their mockery still hurt her feelings.  Luke’s words kept lingering on her mind  “I’ll report to Mr. Melville to increase your allowance.”  Celeste let out a scoff, but soon after, she couldn’t help burying her face in  arms.  Her muffled sobs brokenly sounded. Since when did her love for Kendric make her dwindle to such a humble state?  It’s like anyone could throw their mockery at her.  There was nothing wrong with loving someone. However, when your love was not responded, in the eyes of others, you would become the subject of mockery.  The one who fell in love first was usually the one stuck in the negative emotions.  Or perhaps it was because Kendric was ‘perfect‘, so in the end, she naturally became the one to blame. No matter what she did will be seen as schemes to force a marriage or milk money from Kendric.  Celeste’s voice quivered as she whispered to herself, “Celeste, be brave and  Redeemed From Caged Love  be firm. Don’t turn back.  Even though she was feeling down, she didn’t wallow in self–pity. After lying  down for a while, she got up to cook the dinner.  Her phone buzzed twice, and she saw a text message from Sienna.  Sienna [Guess who just called me?]  Celeste [Who?]  Sienna [Smirking Face emoji. Melville’s watchdog, the butler!]  Kash?  Celeste [He called you for my information?]  Sienna [Sure thing.]  Celeste (What did he say?]  Sienna [Sly Grin emoji. You have no idea how polite and courteous he  sounded when he called me. OMG. It gave me goose bumps!]  Sienna [He even politely addressed me as Miss Vader and asked me to give him your phone number.]  Celeste paused. [Did you give him?]  Sienna seemed a bit annoyed by the question. [HEY! You think I’m the type of person who would betray my friend??]  Celeste breathed a sigh of relief. [BFF, great job.]  Sienna [But I did give him a number.]  Celeste [Whose number?]  Sienna [The number to the psychiatric hospital. I told him to take all  Melvilles there for a check–up.]  Sienna [lol. I bet he’s stamping with fury.]  Celeste burst into laughter. [Melvilles would never admit they were wrong,  and they believe the world revolves around them.]  Sienna [What if Kendric personally comes to you? Can you still stick to your decision?]  Celeste [He won’t.]  Celeste [We lived together for eight years. It’s always me who took the initiative to find him.]  girl.]  Sienna [Girl, you should be rewarded the name of the most–crazily–in–love  Celeste [Shit. I myself am surprised, too. How could I have fallen for a cold unfeeling rock for eight years.]  Sienna reassured her. [Congrats, girl. You were successfully helped ashore from the vast sea of love.] W  Celeste [As soon as he comes back, I’ll have an openly talk with him.]  Sienna. [Good. To celebrate you regaining freedom, how about we do something thrilling?]  Celeste [Thrilling?]  Sienna [There’s a show in a night club tonight, and it’s pretty damn exciting.] 

Chapter 08  Kendric stepped out of the car and cast his eyes around.  But Celeste was nowhere to be seen.  His gaze shifted to his mother, “where’s Celeste?”  Yes, Celeste’s moving out was mostly her own decision, but Ms. Quinn’s  hostility for her was another part of the reason.  Ms. Quinn certainly wouldn’t admit her forcing Celeste away.  “Oh, you know her well. She’s probably throwing a tantrum again.” she put  on a tender smile and shook her head.  Kendric cast a brief glance across the room. His gaze fell on Luke who hung  his head down with a hint of guilt.  Kendric tasked him with bringing Celeste back, but he failed.  Gavin and others had originally planned to party all night out in the bar. However, Kendric’s departure made them lose interest. They eventually decided  to shift the party venue to Melville’s villa.  Until the late hour, Melville family were still aglow with lights.  Kendric was dragged away by his mother to have a good chat, and he  struggled to press down his restlessness to listen to her.  “How long will you stay at home this time?” Ms. Quinn inquired.  From the moment he stepped inside the house, Kendric seemed  absent–minded. He keenly noticed that all traces of Celeste had vanished from this home.  Redeemed From Caged Love  There was originally a photo of them in the living room, but now it  disappeared. In the entryway, her favorite keychain was absent. Her paintings, her preferred cushion on the sofa had all disappeared.  Kendric glanced around, then shifted his gaze away.  “Why did Celeste suddenly move out?”  Ms. Quinn put on a friendly smile. “Oh, she’s just throwing a little fit.” she  hid her dislike for Celeste, “don’t worry, Ken. Just go sweet–talk her, and she’ll  probably come back.”  Kendric was in no mood to continue this talk. “I need to go change my  clothes first.”  He headed upstairs, and Luke tailed close behind.  In the study on the second floor, Kendric sat in a chair. On the desk in front  put the necklace he’d bought especially for Celeste.  Celeste didn’t accept it.  “What did she say?” he asked.  Luke hesitated, “Miss Alinsky said… this precious necklace should be given to the girl you truly love.”  Kendric furrowed his brows. “Childish.”  For a split second, Luke wanna give his boss a kind warning. Because he felt Celeste’s attitude were a bit unusual this time.  In the past, a call from Kendric would be enough to bring her back. But this time, a specially selected necklace and a specially appointed assistant failed to  Redeemed from Care Love  Chapter  change her mind.  “Where she moved to?”  Luke hurriedly replied, “in a small apartment she rented.”  Kendric frowned even more. In the past when Celeste left home, she would  stay at a hotel for a maximum of two nights. But this time, she rented an  apartment?  Over the years, he had almost grown accustomed to not putting much thought into Celeste. She had always been very obedient. Even if she occasionally threw a tantrum, she was easy to pacify.  “Give me the phone,” he demanded.  Luke handed over the phone. Kendric directly dialed her number. It

Chapter 07  When Celeste walked out of the subway station, it was already nine at  night.  The street was quite with few passers–by. Celeste walked toward the  apartment, and suddenly someone called out her name.  “Miss Alinsky.”  That’s how Melville’s maids and subordinates addressed her, politely but distantly. They never admitted her as Kendric’s fiancee. Celeste turned around.  It was Luke, Kendric’s personal assistant.  Luke greeted her politely and then went straight to the point, “Mr. Melville is back.”  This news surprised Celeste a bit. She thought it would take him another two to three months to wrap up his work.  But what did this have to do with her?  Luke frowned at her silence. He stepped closer, “Mr. Melville is back home. It’s time for you to head back.”  Celeste finally caught his drift. Kendric had returned, so she should wisely ended escapade of running away from home. She should return obediently to that cage and play well her role as his gentle, affectionate fiancée.  In fact, Kendric didn’t find out about Celeste running away from home until Gavin Bates called him.  Over the phone, Gavin casually mentioned that Celeste had been causing a fuss at home. His aim was to sow discord between Celeste and Kendric.  Chapter07  Yet Kendric responded, “let her be.”  Gavin then added, “she’s run away from home now.”  This prompted Kendric to make a call back to get the full story. The butler elaborated how Celeste argued heatedly with Ms. Quinn and hurled insults at Ophelia.  “Go get her back.” was all Kendric’s response.  Thus that day, butler Kash paid a visit to Celeste’s studio in person, but only returned with a sour face.  Celeste pressed her lips together. Luke couldn’t quite grasp her meaning.  “I just got off from overtime,” she said nonchalantly.  Luke caught on immediately, “I’ll report to Mr. Melville to increase your allowance.“…  A mix of emotions surged through Celeste. What she wanna express was that she was tried from work and needed rest, but Luke interpreted it as her indirect request for money.  Celeste chuckled, yet a profound sorrow lingered beneath her laughter. She added, “I worked overtime today, and I’m beat. I’m not going to Melville family.”  She said Melville family rather than home.  Luke thought Celeste was throwing temper tantrums. He knew well how this stunning woman was completely infatuated with his boss.  Whenever Kendric came home, Celeste would be the first to greet him.  Every time he went on a business trip, she would check his return date ahead  and waited.  She would stand on her tiptoes and plant a kiss on his chin, expressing how  much she missed him.  Yet these ways of displaying affection didn’t sit well with Kendric and his assistants. They felt it overly direct and a bit annoying. In their eyes, Celeste was like an overly clingy cat.  They thought this stupid, in short.  Luke handed over a box. “This is a gift Mr. Melville specifically picked for  you.”  It aroused no interest of Celeste.  Right in front of her, Luke opened the box.  Inside was a set of ruby necklace from Boucheron. The deep red rubies were paired with Tahitian black pearls. Under the soft glow of the streetlights, they shimmered with a captivating allure.  Seeing her lost in thought, Luke smirked. “Mr. Melville got this from an auction in France.”  See? Nobody was able to resist the charm of jewelry.  Celeste reached out and shut the box.  “This is such a precious gift. It should be saved for the girl he loves,” she said without taking the box. Then, she turned away and headed upstairs.  At dusk, Kendric’s flight had already touched down in this city.  He hadn’t taken a vacation over the past year and had been dedicated to  company’s market expansion plan. He squeezed the original three–year plan  into just one year. Company’s development had gone exceedingly well.  Upon Kendric’s arrival, the headquarter urgently summoned all  departments for a meeting. They concluded the company’s achievements over  the past year, including successful expansion into overseas markets and  doubling their domestic production lines. 

Chapter 06  Next few days, no other members from Melville came to disturb Celeste.  As a privileged family, Melville never lacked folks trying to get into their good graces. Though Celeste was labeled as Kendric’s future wife, everyone knew she was of little importance.  Her tirelessly chasing after Kendric made her quite a bad name. Even those outsiders could tell that Melville family wasn’t treating her with much respect.  Thus now, most people would choose to get off her back, which was quiet a good news for Celeste. She had been devoted to work these days and got to the office early every day.  Sienna felt gratified to see Celeste’s changes. “If you’d made changes earlier, maybe you wouldn’t be in this tight spot now.”  “What do you mean?”  Sienna whipped out her phone and clicked the group chat,. “just take a gander at what they are talking about you.”  Celeste shifted her attention from the laptop screen to Sienna’s phone, scanning through the chatting content.  [Big news! Celeste Alinsky really got kicked out by Melville family this time!]  [Smirking Face] [Smirking Face] [Smirking Face]  [Another running away from home show… nothing to be surprised about, but it seems she never gets tired of it?]  [Heard the atmosphere between her and Ms. Quinn really lapsed into a  impasse this time… Ms. Quinn gave her a good scolding in front of a bunch of  servants.]  [WTF, no wonder she left. Getting chewed out in front of the maids… pretty.  embarrassing.]  [Face with Rolling Eyes]  [Word on the street is, Kendric’s coming back in a few days… no prizes for  guessing her intention.]  [What else could it be? To force Ken into marriage!]  Celeste slowly withdrew her gaze. She calmly continued her work.  But Sienna was on the edge of outburst. She immediately fired back with a  barrage of sharp words that left them utterly speechless.  Celeste chuckled. She poured a glass of water for Sienna and quipped,  “Sienna, you are more riled up than me.”  Sienna was puzzled by her calmness. “Cely… are you really intended to force him into marriage?”  “You think I will?” Celeste shot her a glance.  After a moment’s pondering, Sienna responded candidly, “well, it’s not entirely impossible.”  Celeste let out a sneer.  “Wait! I got a good idea.” Sienna smirked, “Cely, we should give these nasty nerds good embarrassment!”  “Embarrassment? How?”  Sienna’s imagination was now running wild. “they all say that you were  dumped by Kendric, but what if you show up with a new boyfriend who’s even  more good–looking and charming than him…”  Sienna got more excited by the imagined scenes in her mind. “and then.  there will be a good showdown between these two men!”  Celeste doused Sienna’s fire of excitement. “If Kendric knows I have a new  boyfriend while he is away, and this guy is even more appealing than him, just  guess whose dead body you gotta see tomorrow, mine or the so–called new  boyfriend’s?”  Sienna contemplated for a moment. If Kendric discovered he’d been  cheated on by Celeste while he was abroad… Sienna shivered as a memory from  their university days suddenly emerged from her mind.  Back in college, Celeste had once been stalked by one of her admirers, and  this guy had ended up with three broken ribs.  “Most likely… neither of you would make it out alive.”  “This is the case.” Celeste shrugged, “only idiots would choose to provoke  him. I just want a peaceful breakup.”  In Celeste’s eyes, it’s unnecessary to take other actions and Kendric would  agree to break up. 

Chapter 05  Three hours later. Celeste finished coloring a painting. She checked the time  and decided to go out to fetch a glass of drink.  The rest room was separated from her office by a large hall. As she passed  through the hall, someone called her name.  her.  “Miss Alinsky.”  Celeste turned around. Kash was standing upright in the hall, staring at  She had to say Sienna was quite sly. Celeste shivered under the icy blast of  the air conditioner above, but the butler stood there unflinchingly.  “Yes?”  Kash wore his black gloves today, which made him look even more stern.  His tone was more commanding than advisory. “It’s time for you to go back,” he  stated.  Celeste found it absurd. Who the hell gave him the guts to talk to her im  such an authoritative tone?  She raised an eyebrow, “and if I say no?”  The butler remained tough, as if he were addressing a disobedient child.  “Then I’d kindly remind you of the possible results if you piss ma’am off.”  Celeste placed her cup down and gracefully took a seat on the nearby sofa,  gesturing for Kash to do the same. “Please have a seat.”  The word ‘please‘ delighted Kash a bit. He preached at Celeste, “Miss  Alinsky, your temper might make you look a bit interesting, but it’s rather  Chapter 05  unwise to make it a habit.”  Celeste let out a chuckle, but there was a simmering anger in her eyes.  “Really? Having I done something unwise?”  He started to list her improper behaviors. “Firstly, you shouldn’t have  argued with Madam yesterday before moving out.  Oh yeah, she did have a heated argument with Kendric’s mother before  moving out.  “Secondly, Mr. Melville is occupied with business affairs. You shouldn’t  trouble him with these trifles and disrupt his work.”  He’s implying that Celeste shouldn’t have run to Kendric to complain.  Celeste fought to keep her composure and forced a smile. “Is that all?  Anything else you’d like to add?”  Scolding Celeste brought Kash a sense of vanity, like it could prove his standing within Melville family was beyond a mere servant.  “Yes, there’s one more thing,” he added, “you should drop your jealousy.”  Celeste was teetering on the verge of venting her fury.  Kash seemed unaware of Celeste’s anger. “Miss Ophelia Bates is daughter of madam’s friend, as well as sister of Mr. Melville’s good friend. It’s natural for her to move into Melville family. You shouldn’t have overreacted.”  Celeste nearly let out her laughter, the self–mocking one.  She is Kendric’s fiancée, yet she was told to put up with another woman who aims to snatch away her fiance.  Kash stood up with a cocky expression. “I hope you can reflect on yourself,  and timely correct your mistakes.”  Celeste regretted wasting her cherished time here listening to his bullshits.  “Wait.”  Kash paused his pace. “Miss Alinsky, let me remind you, it’s madam and  Miss Bates who you should apologize to.”  Apologize? Celeste sneered.  Yes, every time she had conflicts with Ms. Quinn, in the end she would be  the one to apologize. And the results turned out to be same when she argued
