Chapter 50  Cindy’s expression was nothing but arrogant, clutching onto Edward’s arm as the both of them sat down. Edward had a high and mighty air about him as well.  Wilbur frowned, irritation flaring in his chest.  It was clear that Cindy had brought her boyfriend along just to show off. It was a gathering, not a show- and–tell.  Just then, Cindy smiled and said, “Come on, guys, stop staring! Edward might be someone of status, but he’s my boyfriend. There’s no need to act so awkwardly.  The words sounded polite, but the implication was less so.  Everyone was speechless. In the end, someone got up and poured everyone a gla** of wine. Those who did not drink got tea instead.  After that, Ryan Swan, the previous cla** monitor, raised his gla**. “It’s a rare occasion that all of us are free enough to get together. Let’s drink to that. The night’s still young.”  Everyone raised their gla**es, and so did Wilbur, Nancy and a few female cla**mates only drank tea.  After the first drink, everyone picked up their cutlery and began chatting among themselves.  Just then, Cindy’s gaze fell on Wilbur. She seemed a little surprised.  “Wilbur, I haven’t seen you in a while! Where did you run off to for so long?” Cindy asked.  Wilbur said, “I went to work abroad and just got back.”  Cindy chuckled. ‘Oh! You’ve returned from abroad. I’m sure you must be some bigshot at a top company?”  Wilbur frowned. “I’m unemployed right now.”  Cindy shook her head at once. “That won’t do! Why don’t I get you sorted out, and you can come to work at Woods Corporate? I’m sure I can get you the position of a driver or security guard.”  “That’s fine. I don’t really want to do that.” Wilbur wanted to roll his eyes at her. Who could have guessed that Cindy was just working at Woods Corporate?  Cindy said at once, “Why? Are those positions not to your satisfaction? I can get Edward to help you get a part–time gig working for the government Instead. Would that look a little better for you?”  Wilbur’s irritation grew stronger. “I’m not really struggling that much yet. You don’t need to worry about me.  Those words made Cindy’s expression darken at once, and she slammed her fork on the table. “I was just trying to help you because we were once cla**mates and you’re jobless. What are you trying to imply here?”  “I wasn’t implying anything.” Wilbur said calmly.  Just then, Edward let out a chuckle. “Forget it, Cindy. No point trying to force him into doing something he doesn’t want to. Some people just don’t know how to appreciate a good gesture.”  The words brought about looks of displeasure from everyone, but none said anything due to Edward’s  Status.  Next to Wilbur, Nancy quickly put some food on Wilbur’s plate. “Try this. It’s pretty good.”  “Okay.” Wilbur looked at Nancy gratefully, knowing that she was just trying to save the situation  2/2  However, Cindy was not done yet. “Look at that, old cla**mates reigniting old flames! Nancy, I know you were once deskmates, but you should really be wary of jobless deadbeats like him.”  “We’re just cla**mates. You’re overcomplicating it,” Nancy said quietly.  Wilbur glanced at Cindy, then shook his head.  Cindy had always used her looks to look down on others, and it was clear that she had not changed one. bit. In fact, she had only gotten worse.  Yet Wilbur’s gesture angered Cindy, and she shouted, “What are you trying to say, Wilbur?”  “Nothing.” Wilbur said calmly.  Cindy slammed the table, turning to Edward. “He’s looking down on me.”  Edward chuckled, feeding Cindy a piece of meat. “No point in getting angry at lowlives like this, sweetheart.”  He then turned to Wilbur, his tone turning cold as he said, “Apologize to Cindy right now or I’ll make your life in Seechertown a living hell.”  The cla**mates were abuzz at the sudden outburst. How did that just happen out of nowhere? 

Chapter 49  Wilbur saw that it was a call from Nancy and picked it up at once.  “Wilbur, where are you? Do you need me to pick you up?” Nancy’s voice came ringing down the line.  Wilbur said at once, “Oh, that’s alright, I’ll be right there.  “Great! Be on time, will you?” Nancy said, hanging up after that.  Wilbur chuckled. To be honest, he was pretty happy to be able to see his old cla**mates after so long. He did not have many friends, and it was hard to still be in touch with his cla**mates after so long.  He got in his car and drove to Winston Entertainment.  Winston Entertainment was a recreational establishment with food and entertainment services, considered to be rather popular in Seechertown.  Half an hour later, Wilbur arrived at the place. He entered the hall and saw Nancy waiting on the couch as if she had been waiting just for him.  Nancy saw Wilbur as well and got to her feet at once with a smile. “Come on, everyone’s here.”  Wilbur nodded, following Nancy to one of the rooms.  They were greeted by over ten cla**mates there, chatting joyously among themselves.  Everyone greeted Wilbur, and a sense of nostalgia washed over him.  He had gone overseas after finishing junior high, spending the next decade in battle. He had not experienced something like this in a long time.  He greeted everyone joyously before sitting down.  Just then, Nancy said, “Wilbur, you disappeared after junior high. We still kept in touch, but you were nowhere to be found. Everyone misses you, you know.”  Wilbur said guiltily, “My apologies. I went abroad to make a living and lost touch with everyone. Who would have thought that a decade would just pa** by like that?  Everyone chuckled before asking about Wilbur’s experiences abroad. Of course, he only said that he was working and vaguely described what happened.  Just then, the waiter started bringing in the food. It was not long before the table was filled with food and drinks. It seemed like the party was about to start.  However, no one seemed to be digging in. Everyone was still chatting among themselves.  Just then, one of the cla**mates said, ‘Cindy sure has some nerves. It’s almost half past eight and she’s still not here.”  “She was prom queen. Of course she’d be putting on airs.”  “She used to be prom queen, and now she’s the events manager of Woods Corporate. That’s crazy.”  “Oh, that’s nothing! We’re all cla**mates, and this is a school gathering! What’s the point in bringing that up?”  The mention of Cindy Vega made everyone break out into discussions at once.  Wilbur could not help but chuckle to himself.  2/2  Cindy had been the most popular girl in school back then, and it seemed like she was still just as popular.  Just as everyone was talking among themselves, the door was pushed open as a lavishly–dressed woman walked in.  “Cindy! You finally made it. Everyone’s been waiting for you,” one of the cla**mates said.  Cindy was clad in pink office wear and exquisite makeup as she strode in gracefully while waving at everyone. “I’m so sorry for making all of you wait!”  Everyone was about to respond when a man in a suit followed behind Cindy.  The crowd stopped short. They did not know that guy.  Cindy introduced him at once, “Oh, this is my boyfriend, Edward Channing. He’s the son of Xavier Channing, the Weston District manager.”  That seemed to surprise everyone and even annoyed a few people.  It was a school gathering. What was the point of inviting people that no one knew? However, he was already here, so everyone decided it was best not to say anything. 

Chapter 48  Faye never brought it up because Wilbur had never mentioned it as well.  Knowing what to say and not say at the right time was the best quality one could have as a subordinate, friend, or even lover.  Faye smiled at Wilbur’s words. “Sealake Island’s worth at least five hundred million dollars. That’s a pretty sweet deal you got there.”  “Well, it came as a surprise. I wasn’t expecting anything. Wilbur said with a smile.  It was only then that Faye finally stopped worrying. The two of them chatted as they finished off the food before Faye went to do the dishes.  Wilbur sat on the couch and lit a cigarette. He stared at Faye’s back in the kitchen, lost in his own thoughts.  Soon, Faye finished tidying up and came to the living room.  Just as she was about to sit down, she slipped and fell down in Wilbur’s direction.  “Oops!” Faye cried out, falling onto Wilbur.  Wilbur was startled for a moment before reaching out to pull one of Faye’s arms so that she was seated back on the couch.  Faye sat down, her hands on her chest as she panted. “That was scary.”  The front of her dress slipped down as she shook, showing off her cleavage. Her panting only made things worse, and Wilbur had to struggle to keep his mind from wandering.  “I’m going to bed. You should get some rest too.” Wilbur fled after saying the words.  Faye’s expression was one of agony as she saw Wilbur leave, mumbling to herself, “I was going to have you for dessert, you coward.”  The next morning.  Faye woke up and got ready before heading to the living room. Wilbur was nowhere to be seen.  She sighed, then got into her car and drove to work  Just as she had gotten to her office, she got a call from Timothy.  The two of them talked for a long time before the call finally ended. Faye was fuming by then.  It turned out that Timothy had indeed gotten to the bottom of things.  Shelby was just some hostess at a bar. Who she actually was was not even worth looking into.  After growing suspicious of her, Timothy quickly looked up who she really was. Faced with the truth, Shelby had no choice but to admit that she had done this because her manager, Terrence Lawson, had ordered her to do so.  With that, Timothy promptly arrested Terrence, who revealed that Miranda Wester of the Willow family. had been behind all of that.  Just then, Miranda had already been arrested for attempting to frame someone for sexual a**ault. Timothy had called Faye to tell her that Wilbur’s charge had been dropped, and she was to come to the police station to fill out the paperwork.  Faye was furious when she found out.  Wilbur had been willing to go easy on the Willows, only for them to hound him after that. It really was too much.  Faye had made up her mind to teach the Willows a bit of a lesson, and she wasn’t going to tell Wilbur about it.  Following that, she called her secretary. “Buy up Willow Corp’s internal shares in secret. Take as much as  you can.”  “Got it, Miss Yves,” her secretary said  Faye nodded, and said, “Pay close attention to their every move. I want to take them down completely.  Willow  Her secretary replied, “Alright. Willow Corp has been in hot water since what happened to them last time. A lot of banks are chasing them to pay off their debts.  Faye’s eyes lit up at once. “Alright! Get me in touch with the bank reps in charge of this. I’d like a word with them.”  “On it.”  Evening came by quickly.  Wilbur finished meditating and opened his eyes.  The thought of what happened last night made him shake his head.  Faye was really impossible to resist. It was making his life really hard.  Had it been any other man, they would have succumbed to her charms a long time ago. Just then, Wilbur’s phone rang. 

Chapter 47  However, Jeremy bowed to Wilbur deeply. “I thank you for your kindness, Senior, and I deeply regret my actions. Let me send you a gift as an apology.” “Oh?” Wilbur was a little surprised. Jeremy looked around him. “The Owens family owns this island. I’ve underestimated and offended you. I’d like to offer you this island as a gift as an apology.” “You’re giving this island to me?” Wilbur had honestly not expected this, and he looked at Jeremy in surprise. “This place must cost good money.” Jeremy bowed again. “I’m sure money is hardly a problem to you, Senior. This is just a little gift from me, I hope you’ll accept it.” Wilbur fell silent for some time before saying slowly, “Since you offered, don’t mind if I do.” “Thank you for accepting this, Senior. I’ll arrange for the transfer of the property as soon as possible. It’ll be yours very soon,” Jeremy said. Wilbur nodded, then turned to leave. Jeremy called out behind him, “From this day on, the Owens family shall take any order that you may have, Senior.” Gerard and Matt heard that and hurried to bow to Wilbur as well. *Gerard Torrent of the Torrent clan at your service, Senior.” “Matt Lilith of the Lilith clan at your service, Senior,” Wilbur nodded lightly but continued walking away. Just then, Jeremy finally straightened up as he let out a long breath. The Owens family had really met their match this time. However, Jeremy was no small fry himself. After all, he had made it as the head of his own clan. He quickly readjusted his mindset after losing to Wilbur Wilbur was practically considered a god on earth, with power that no clan could match. Since they could not beat him, they might as well join him. With someone like Wilbur on their side, the clan’s power would only grow stronger. Thus, Jeremy decided to give Sealake Island to Wilbur, It was to apologize, but also a gesture of allegiance. -if–Wilbur did not turn him down, Jeremy was sure that he would be able to gain Wilbur’s forgiveness with his own sincerity. Gerard and Matt understood at once what Jeremy was thinking as well. That was why they had shown their loyalty too, volunteering to follow Wilbur’s orders. They naturally had to cling to a force like this! Just then, the three clan leaders exchanged a glance. Jeremy said, “There is a silver lining to even the darkest cloud. This incident started out as a tragedy, but we just might have gotten some good out of it. Chapy Let’s hope this turns out good for us.” Wilbur drove home and entered the house to see Faye still at the table. She had not touched the food on the table at all, and it was still steaming. It was from being heated up over and over again, of course. Wilbur asked, ‘Why haven’t you eaten?” Faye was clearly relieved at the sight of Wilbur coming home safe, and she greeted him happily. “How was I supposed to stomach anything with you gone? Are you alright?” “I’m fine.” Wilbur smiled lightly, taking off his shoes and sitting down at the dining table with Faye. Faye filled up Wilbur’s plate, and the two of them dined in silence. “How did it go?” Faye was still a little worried. Wilbur nodded. “It went well, I’d say. I even got Sealake Island because of it.” “Sealake Island? Faye was a little confused. Wilbur said, “The Owens family gave Sealake Island to me. They said I’ll have it in the next few days.” Those words left out a lot of the dangers that he went through. – Faye knew that a lot more had happened. After all, it had resulted in the transfer of an establishment that cost billions. Wilbur must have gotten it with pure, undeniable skill. Faye knew a thing or two about what her boss was capable of. There was a rumor that he had led a group of elites into battle around the world, before finally founding Cape International. Wilbur’s power was rather terrifying, to be honest. 

Chapter 46  Just then, Jeremy’s face was white as a sheet. He could not stop coughing up blood, his expression one of disbelief and shock.  A second later, Gerard and Matt could finally raise their heads.  They saw Wilbur completely unharmed, and their chests lurched in shock.  How could this be?  Wilbur was standing right there, and there was nothing for them to believe otherwise.  Just then, the scroll Jeremy was holding burst into flames all of a sudden. It disintegrated to ashes in no time, disappearing from sight.  Jeremy was in shock, before yelling, ‘Ancient ancestor Ancient ancestor  Wilbur frowned. “Stop yelling. That burst of energy was the last of your ancestor, but you insisted on exhausting it. This outcome is inevitable.”  Jeremy gritted his teeth as he glowered at Wilbur. “You destroyed my clan jewel.”  Wilbur’s expression grew cold. He took a big stride, stepping right up to Jeremy. Wilbur grabbed him by the neck and lifted him into the air.  The Owens family was in shock, and all of them crowded forward. They wanted to save Jeremy, but none of them dared to do anything.  Jeremy’s life was currently in the palm of Wilbur’s hands.  Wilbur said coldly. “You provoked me 1 me and time again, and I was willing to let it go. Even now, you’re still trying to blame me for what happened to you. Well, you can pay for your own actions then.”  As he spoke, Wilbur’s grip on Jeremy’s neck tightened. Jeremy gagged, feeling like he was about to die from suffocation at any moment.  It was only then that he realized how ternfying an existence Wilbur was.  Not only did he beat Jeremy, but he had also taken out the ultimate sword image that Jeremy’s ancient ancestor had left behind. Someone capable of doing that was practically a god.  Jeremy’s expression finally flashed with terror, and he began to beg.  Nevertheless, he could not speak anymore, only wheezing like a feral beast.  The crowd was all the more terrified.  They could tell that Wilbur was going to kill him at any moment, yet the murderous aura that was coming off him made it near impossible for anyone to dare to stop him.  Seeing his father at the brink of death, lan fell to the ground in the distance on his knees as he shouted with all his might, “Please spare my father, Great Master! The Owens family surrenders to you.”  Wilbur glanced at fan. He sneered coldly, then threw Jeremy to the ground.  Jeremy’s chest heaved as he took in large gulps of air, finally regaining a little color on his face.  Following that, he cursed himself before bowing deeply to Wilbur. “I, Jeremy Owens, officially surrender. Thank you for sparing my life, Senior,”  The jaw–dropping contrast in strength was undeniable. Jeremy and the rest could only surrender to Wilbur.  Chapter 45  12  Jeremy had truly admitted defeat.  Wilbur cast a glance at the crowd.  Jeremy, as well as his clan, bowed to him. Gerard and Mark were bowing with their respective clans as well.  Seeing this, Wilbur said coldly. “I’m not one to go too far, so I’ll spare you this time. You’d better behave  after this.”  Upon speaking. Wilbur turned and headed for the bridge.  Yet Jeremy stared at Wilbur’s retreating back for all but two seconds, before hurrying up to him. “Please wait, Senior.”  The Owens family was confused at the gesture. Was Jeremy really going to challenge Wilbur again at a time like this? Their clan would be done for.  Gerard and Matt were shocked as well, trying to look meaningfully at Jeremy so he would stop asking for trouble and possibly drag their clans into this. 

Chapter 45  Just as Jeremy’s words rang through the air, lan was seen walking up to him holding a wooden box. Ian got on his knees, pa**ing the box to Jeremy above his head.  Jeremy opened the box with a wave of his hand. He took out a scroll and flicked it open in one swift  move.  –  The scroll contained a painting of an elder clad in long robes. There was a sword on the elder’s back as his robes billowed in the wind, looking extremely ethereal  At the same time, a powerful pressure surged out from the painting. It enveloped the air, filling it with an unspeakable pressure.  Just then, Gerard got to his feet in shock. “Legend has it that the Owens family owns a portrait of an ancient ancestor who holds the power of an elite cultivator! It’s said to be the clan jewel. Is this it?”  Gerard himself had lost a little composure.  It was hardly his fault, after all. The painting was a legendary treasure, and to witness it filled Gerard’s chest with awe.  Matt was in shock as well, shaking as he stood up. He stroked his beard, exclaiming, “What a treasure! Tha  power this painting hold is not something I deserve to own for sure! The Owens family sure is the most powerful clan.”  Jeremy smirked coldly, then looked at Wilbur. “Young man. You’re about to find out today what it means to be a clan with real power. You’ll finally understand that it’s not something that a young brat like you can screw with.‘  Wilbur shook his head. “Oh my. Is that it? Come on. Just pack it up already. Don’t hurt yourself.”  Jeremy shouted, “How dare you! To be in the presence of my ancient ancestor is to be in the presence of a god! Ancient ancestor, please take out the enemy for me.”  As he spoke, Jeremy channeled a good amount of his energy into the painting. It lit up at once, and a terrifying force enveloped the entire island.  All at once, the winds whipped recklessly as the sky lost all light.  “Go to hell!” Jeremy shouted the words as an image of a sword appeared in the painting. It soared into the air, lighting up the night sky.  Following that, the sword image came charging downward in Wilbur’s direction with an impossible force. The sword shadow constricted the air wherever it pa**ed, causing the wind to whip through the crowd’s clothes and making it hard for them to open their eyes.  The crowd was in awe of the sword image, a strange blend of fear and respect arising in their chests.  Of course the Owens family was not to be trifled with  Everyone was certain then that Wilbur was dead for sure.  He might have been able to trump Jeremy earlier, but that was because both of them were mortal.  The sword Image from such a sacred painting was not something a human being was able to take. Wilbur was done for.  The doubt that Gerard and Matt had from before was quickly stamped out by the sight of the sword image.  2/2  Just then, Wilbur shook his head. He raised his right hand, pointing at the sky.  In the blink of an eye, an oppressive force surged out of Wilbur and hit the crowd all at once.  There was a blinding light coming from the tip of his finger as well.  In the blink of an eye, the light grew to the size of almost a hundred meters. It emanated a terrifying sword aura, swinging in the direction of the painting’s sword image.  Both terrifying forces collided in mid–air.  A deafening sound rang through the air as both attacks exploded into a shower of brilliant sparks. It was as if it was raining shooting stars.  Both forces collided and exploded again and again, hurtling around in the air before slowly fading.  Sealake Island resumed its peace and quiet.  The three clans were trembling, curled in on themselves on the ground. The collision had scared the wits out of them, and they could hardly even stand.  Wilbur was the only person standing, with his hands behind his back as he stared at the crowd expressionlessly. 

Chapter 44  Compared to John, Jeremy was a lot stronger and more skilled than his son. His aura alone was something that John was not capable of. The sight of Jeremy’s powers led the three clans to burst into cheers once again. Wilbur’s expression remained unchanged as he silently looked at Jeremy. Jeremy’s eyes were bloodshot with rage. He leaped into the air, pouncing at Wilbur like a hawk. As he landed, countless afterimages of his punches appeared in the air, raining down on Wilbur, All at once, the air began to whip and grow misty with smoke and sand. Wilbur kept one hand behind his back, the other making a series of patterns in the air as he countered Jeremy’s every attack, disintegrating each blow into nothing. Jeremy was furious. He landed on the ground, launching attack after attack at Wilbur. His punches barreled toward Wilbur from all directions, but Wilbur still managed to neutralize them with only one hand. Jeremy’s fierce attacks had not sent Wilbur a single step backward. In fact, he did not even use his other hand once. Jeremy continued to attack Wilbur for over a minute, his fury growing as he realized that not a single blow was landing. He cried out loud all of a sudden, his right fist lighting up with a power flame as he hurled it toward Wilbur’s head. His internal energy had materialized into the flames around him. It was a powerful blow, one that required far more skill than the aura blow. The crowd, sensing the power of his attack, burst into endless cheers and praise. Jeremy’s gaze flashed with a cold glint. Since he could not defeat Wilbur in combat, he would just have to beat him with brute force. He did not think that some young guy would be able to beat him in terms of energy. Nevertheless, just then, Wilbur let out a soft cry as well. He formed a fist with his right hand, then punched in Jeremy’s direction. The counter–attack seemed like nothing, colliding with Jeremy’s fist from earlier. A thump could be heard as both attacks collided in the air, followed by a surge of terrifying energy entering Jeremy’s body. “Argh!” Jeremy cried out in agony, spitting out blood. He was sent flying backward for over ten meters before he was able to regain his balance. He clutched his chest and stared at Wilbur in disbelief, The Owens family surrounded him at once, coming to Jeremy’s protection. They turned to stare at Wilbur warily. Gerard and Matt were in shock as well, exchanging a glance as their minds were in complete shock. That was a turnout that neither of them had expected. They both knew just how powerful Jeremy was. It could be said that he was second to none in 2/2 Seechertown. Regardless, he had lost just like that this time. It seemed like there was a new top dog in Seechertown. However, Jeremy gulped hard, sending away the men who came to his aid as he faced Wilbur. “Il admit that I’ve underestimated you.” “That’s fine. It’s not too late for you to back down,” Wilbur said. Jeremy replied with a cold sneer, “The Owens family will not have our pride questioned. Did you really think I’ve lost?” “Are you actually trying to die here? Wilbur was a little confused. This guy seemed to not know who he was dealing with. Jeremy said coldly, “You have no idea what our clan is capable of. We’re strong enough to take just about anyone down. Don’t even think for a second that you’ve won.” Wilbur frowned. ‘Is that so? Come on, cut it out already. You could really die.” However, Wilbur’s words clearly did not feel like a threat to Jeremy. Jeremy roared angrily, “Bring out the clan jewel!”
