Chapter Thirty–Eight Evelyn POV I wait until both male wolves have run off into the distance before I start to strip. I place my clothes into Pierce’s bag before I shift into my yellowy sandy brown wolf. It had been a while since I had shifted, I hadn’t realised how long until she takes a moment to stretch out her back. With an internal groan from me, she picks up the bag with her teeth and gives chase to the two alpha males ahead of her. As I catch up with them both, Reuben’s wolf can’t take his eyes off mine. His ocean blue eyes now a stormy navy, that of a troubled sea. Had we ever shifted in front of each other, allowed our wolves to actually meet? I know I have seen. his wolf before, but I don’t recollect ours meeting. My wolf seems to enjoy his eyes on her, she even wiggles her tail before I reprimand her internally. Pierce’s wolf walks towards me, trying to sniff my neck but stops when Reuben’s teeth start to snap in a warning. My wolf shakes her head at the two of them before leaping into the air and taking the lead. We gain distance on the village and I can feel Donnie now through the pack bond and push on his mind. “Donnie?”  “Alpha? Where are you?” He voice sounded relieved that I was safely near by. “We are in wolf form in some woodlands surveying the area. Do you have any information on his location?” Please say yes I pray internally to the Moon Goddess for. Please Moon Goddess I can’t go another night without my son. “We believe they are holding him in the old unused pub. We aren’t sure how many inside but there are five males surrounding the village.” Donnie responds and I turn to Reuben who must also be mind–linking Nate. With a swooshing noise next to me, Pierce has shifted back into human form and is crouched down. I dare not look at him, knowing I would see everything but then again… With a growl next to me, Reuben shifts into human form, his eyes taking on a threatening dark glow to Pierce. Still crouching down, I move to behind a tree to shift quickly and place on my clothes before rejoining the pair, who are now dressed. “Any updates?” Pierce asks, seemingly keen to keep moving. “Five surrounding the main buildings, the pub looks like our main destination…Evelyn?” Reuben looks to me for confirmation. “Yes that’s what Donnie said.” “Ukay good, so what do you want to do?” Pierce looks at me and I am taken aback by his willingness to let me give the orders. “You’re asking me?”  “It’s your son they have right? How do you want us to move forward? As an alpha I know what I would do, but as a parent…” “I’ll go forward first…” Reuben starts to give the orders before he is swiftly cut off by Pierce.

Chapter Thirty–Seven  Evelyn POV “Well, are you coming or not?” Reuben huffs at me as he already starts to leave the alpha house. “I’ll drive!” Alpha Pierce declares, racing ahead of Reuben into the courtyard. I didn’t even know he was here. I look to Noah and Elspeth, I can’t just leave her again! “Mummy I’ll be fine, go…Rex is waiting for you.” She doesn’t really give me leaving the time of day as she puts her head back down and carries on with her maths work. “Go, keep me posted.” Noah stands up, as he walks out of the kitchen in the direction of the courtyard, Milo hot on his tail. “Okay baby, be good. I won’t be long.” I place a kiss on top of her head before I look at the females in the room. Cassandra, Michelle and Candice all look at me with kindness. I’m not sure where Vicky is, if she was in the room I’d be less inclined to leave Elspeth, “I know…I’ll stay. I promise, I’ll keep her away from her.” Candice seems to understand my reservations. I rush out to the courtyard grabbing my mobile and handbag on the way. I made sure to keep my charger in my bag now, just in case. “Pierce, you are not driving!” “Reuben, your cars have your emblem on them. They aren’t inconspicuous and will be seen a mile off. My cars are designed for moving under radar…a lesson you should learn.” Reuben doesn’t even bother thinking of a response, his irritation with Alpha Pierce’s presence escalating into anger. “Fine!” He walks to Pierce’s car, which is a grey saloon, nothing special. “But I’m driving!” “That’s fine with me, I’ll sit in the back with Alpha Evelyn.” I hear Pierce and Reuben argue like they are a married couple. I turn to Noah who was standing next to Milo discussing something together.

Chapter Thirty–Six  Reuben POV He sent those flowers to annoy me! He was such a prick. If I wasn’t already in a bad mood from Elspeth constantly calling the beta Daddy…then I was now from the bouquet of flowers. I also caught Vicky trying to climb into my bed this morning before I kicked her out. I mean what the hell? Were people deliberately trying to frustrate me? I stormed out of the kitchen, the flowers being the final straw. I needed to head up training anyway with Nate now off site. Why was Candice here? I couldn’t refuse her entry to the pack, she grew up here and had family here…but shit, talk about bad timing! She also had a way of angering Vicky which usually secretly amused me, but not today. Even Cassandra was acting strangely Now I also had the Blue Moon beta sniffing around, what the hell was going on? It seemed my house wasn’t even mine anymore. was harder on my warriors at training than I had been in a long time. As soon as they lined up in front of me to begin, I took my top off challenging them to try and take me down. I had ten against one at one point, yet I still knocked them all down to the ground. My wolf still not satisfied enough. I was sexually frustrated and Evelyn’s enticing scent wasn’t helping. Her cherry blossom and sea salt scent was following me around the alpha house, putting thoughts into my head. “Go see the doctors.” I growled at a warrior whose arm I had broken. “I’m fine, Alpha.” He tries to get back in on the fight but I wasn’t a prick like my father. He would have happily of broken the warrior’s other arm just to prove a point. “Are you disobeying an order?” I release my aura onto him. My warriors were strong and any other alpha they would fight the command, it’s how I’ve trained them. But my aura is that of a king. His neck submits to my command before he walks off in the direction of the medical centre, shoulders sagged and head down. They were the best of the best because they were hard on themselves and strived for perfection. I turn to my warriors, readying to restart another

Chapter Thirty–Five  Evelyn POV Elspeth was asleep next to me in the double bed. I had managed to fall asleep and woken up at around 5am. It was now 6am, I have been watching Elspeth sleep for the past hour. Just watching her cute intakes of air, her fluttering eyelids as she dreams and the way she hugs her bunny teddy makes my heart melt. I vow to myself that as soon as we have Rex back, I would watch him sleep. My body was currently in a constant state of stress, my heart was beating faster and the desperation to have him in my arms was creating panic attacks that I kept at bay, and in the privacy of the room. 6am… Was it too early to go downstairs? I always felt awkward in another person’s household, walking around and helping yourself to things. But I didn’t want to disturb Michelle and a coffee would help wake me up to check my emails, to see if Donnie had reached the quarry safely. I decide to leave Elspeth sleeping, she was peaceful and needed the sleep. She was starting to get dark circles under her eyes from her recent restless nights. She didn’t say it, but I think she was holding off sleeping for as long as possible. So that she could feel Rex through the twin bond before crashing out from exhaustion I slowly tiptoe across the bedroom floor, avoiding the floorboards that always creaked under the carpet before reaching the door. I enter onto the landing and to my absolute horror, find Vicky walking out of Reuben’s alpha rooms, scantily dressed. She was wearing one of his T–shirts, a grey one with a rock band tour image on the front and the tour dates listed on the back. Even worse she had no bottoms on, she was only wearing lace panties which I could see slightly under the T–shirt. Her hair messy, sexy bed hair and I didn’t need a science degree to realise that not only did they share the bed but that they were sexually active, as I thought. She reaches her bedroom door and only just notices me on the landing watching her. She acts flustered…embarrassed but Vicky doesn’t embarrass easily. It wouldn’t surprise me if she heard me stir and decided to catch me on the landing. I make myself a cup of coffee in the kitchen and fire the laptop up on the kitchen counter top. I intend to check my emails but I couldn’t get Vicky’s early morning dash from Reuben’s bed out of my mind. And why did I care? Why did I agree to stay? I was so hurt when Reuben pushed me aside when Vicky returned. Their mate bond was strong and I didn’t need to be reminded of it. It forced me out in the first place. The wife that couldn’t win against the fated luna. Yet I felt disappointed, why? Disappointed in Reuben giving into the bond and still not fighting for me? But why would he, and why would I want him to? The longer we stay here, the more confused I become. Even my wolf. I hear footsteps entering the kitchen and at first I don’t look up, just remain engrossed on my laptop. I didn’t need Vicky feigning embarrassment when really she was glad I spotted her. “Are you up early, or have you not gone to bed yet?” Cassandra remains standing by the kitchen table, unsure whether she should enter the kitchen with me currently using it as a office. “Up early!” I smile weakly before picking up the laptop and moving out of her way. As I sit down at the table, she brings my cup of coffee over and places it by my laptop. “Thanks…I put quite a bit on so help yourself.” “Thats okay, I imagine you made some for Noah also.” I catch her frown before she turns “No, he is in the spare room next door to mine.” I correct her assumption. She doesn’t comment further and I feel like I should say something. “You should give him a chance.” “I can’t, he doesn’t belong to me.” She whispers quietly. “He’s been my best friend for as long as I can remember. He was on target to be the beta, but he also enjoyed medicine. He was so talented at it, he still is. Most babies born in our pack are under his watchful eyes.” She’s not even looking at me now, she’s busying herself in the upper cabinets. I decide to keep talking, whether she wants to listen or not. She needs to fight for Noah. “I got married young, too young. I wanted to strengthen my parent’s pack, do my bit. When I came, Noah offered to come and check the facilities. As my personal doctor he never left, and I never told him to. He was the only friend I had in a pack that was very different to the one a grew up She’s not making as much noise now. She’s stopped reaching for the top shelves and is now listening intently. in./ “He’s been my light in my darkest days. My children and Noah saved me…kept me breathing. He is the best man know. Please give him a chance.” Once the clock struck 7am it felt like a more reasonable hour to start cooking breakfast. Elspeth came down and asked for pancakes, which she was currently making with Michelle and Cassandra. I was frying off some bacon and helping to make a fresh round of hot drinks. The smell of a great breakfast soon filled the kitchen and Noah, Reuben and Vicky were sat at the table. Silently drinking their coffees. Elspeth carries a plate full of pancakes onto the table and places them right in front of Noah. “There you go Daddy, I made them myself.” She proudly beams at what she as accomplished but the calling of Noah daddy makes Cassandra whimper slightly and Reuben’s hands to clench

Chapter Thirty–Four  Evelyn POV “Fine.” I nod my approval to Donnie. “I expect you and Nate to work as a team?” I push my aura out onto Nate. If I wasn’t so desperate to have Rex back I wouldn’t let Donnie go into possible danger. His mate was pregnant and didn’t need added stress through their bond. As well as the danger of who had Rex, my mind worried that Nate would turn on Donnie. “I’ll put some health packs together in case you both run into trouble.” Noah offers. “Really?” Reuben scoffs at Noah, not believing how much of a good man,he really was. “With your permission to enter the medical centre?” He pushes his glasses up his nose, facing Reuben. “Nate can escort you!” They leave, Noah glancing nervously back at me before he leaves the office. “I need to go back to my pack.” I sigh out, turning to look at my warriors still congregated in the courtyard, waiting for their orders. “It’s best you stay here for when we receive news to act upon.” Reuben says matter of factly as he leans on his desk, crossing his legs and arms as he watches my every movement. “I have females that are due any day and will need Noah’s expertise.” I also had females from the alliance packs that were due any day, but Reuben didn’t need to know that. “Then he can go, and you can stay.” He shrugs and I just roll my eyes at his unhelpful response. “What, are you both incapable of being apart…” His arms are thrust into the air from frustration “Reuben!” I scold at him for forgetting I am now his equal and have my own responsibilities. “You don’t trust me?” He eyes me suspiciously. “Should I?” I match his tone. “If I wanted you dead Evelyn, I wouldn’t have rushed you to Pierce’s hospital.” He had a point. “Rushed? So you were concerned?” I humour myself, my presence was getting under his skin. “A dead alpha, with another alpha on another alphas lands, without permission…wouldn’t of looked good on me.” He confuses himself with his own phrase. “Oh I forget you’re all about the image aren’t you.” I start to walk passed him my arms crossed in annoyance. Why does he always do that? Act like feelings were for the weak. He gently pulls at my elbow before standing up fully, his frame engulfing mine. I gasp slightly from the tingles that erupt on my elbow. “I was concerned….” His gentle tones are that of his wolf’s, his eyes turning a stormy blue but are soon shook out back to that of glistening sea blue. “I need my pack protected, my visit wasn’t even meant to be overnight. My pack is in vulnerable. position without me there.” I make sure to breathe through my mouth, limiting the intake of his scent into my senses as much as possible. “Stay, I would like to get to know my daughter. We can act instantly on news rather than wait to get information to one another. Noah is your beta, he can defend the pack…” “Noah will stay here.” I adamantly reply, he needs to bond with Cassandra. “Then let me send some of my warriors to your pack. To put your mind at ease whilst you are here.” “Why would you do that?” My eyebrows furrow, confused at his change in approach. “Like I keep saying sweetheart, I’m not the monster you think I am!” “Reuben….I…” What exactly did I want to say? “This looks cozy!” Vicky’s high pitched voice enters the office, sneering at our closeness. “Are you leaving? Your warriors are preparing to leave…” “No she’s staying.” Reuben answers for me.

Chapter Thirty–Three  Noah POV Vicky, always in her high heels, struts into the alpha house following Reuben, she seemed on a mission. “Cupcakes? Hhmm I’m sure Michelle would help with that.” Evelyn places a soft kiss on Elspeth cheek as she starts to walk them both into the house. “Of course I will poppet.” Michelle winks as she takes Elspeth from Evelyn and heads towards the kitchen with Miss Smith closely following. As we enter the house, Vicky slams the office door as I hear her seethe something inaudible to Reuben. His growl didn’t seem to appreciate her slamming of his own office door and I turn to find Evelyn frowning slightly. “Nate, in here now!” Reuben roars through the closed office door and his beta follows his rude command. “What happened?” I whisper to Evelyn as Donnie and I follow her into the main living room It had taken a change since Evelyn lived here. Subtle changes to the decor to match more Vicky’s taste than Evelyn’s. Evelyn was more earthy, more neutral. Vicky was loud and I’m surprised Reuben has allowed the clashing bright pink and yellow zebra print cushions on the cream L shaped sofa. “I ran into a slight issue!” Evelyn keeps her voice also in hushed tones as Donnie and I huddle around her. A growl escapes me as I notice blood on Evelyn’s shirt collar. “Why is there blood on your top?” I pull at her top to show her. “The man I met…he…well…he didn’t have the best welcome.” “He hurt you?” Donnie’s nostrils flare, his alpha was injured and unguarded. This went against our very nature. “I can defend myself!” She growls at Donnie, reminding him who the alpha was. “I’m sorry Alpha.” He lowers his head, submitting his neck to her. “What did you find out?” I press for information. “Nothing, only the same demand that I need to break my alliance. I don’t understand….” She checks the doorway and lowers her voice. “…if Reuben isn’t involved then why do they want the Silver Moon group alliance dispersed?” “Goddess knows. We found evidence of suspicious activity at a quarry in the west. One of the Red Stone pack’s reported it.” I inform her. “Does Reuben know?”  “The news came in this morning, I imagine Nate is updating him now.” “I think we should leave..as soon as possible. Donnie can you round up the men to be ready in the. courtyard as soon as possible?” “Yes Alpha!” He nods before leaving us. “Leave? What about information on Rex?” I question as soon as we are alone again. “We will follow up the report on the quarry but Noah, the longer we stay the more likely someone is going to learn the truth. Can you imagine if enemies of Reuben wanted to find the lost Red Stone heir? I just have this really bad feeling we need to leave before anyone finds out.” “Evelyn I…” I had the opposite feeling, I felt as if staying close to Reuben would give us a better opportunity of knowing whether he was truly involved. “Of course, you can stay if you want….to bond with Cassandra.” “No, I follow you, I protect you and the kids.” This was my promise to her, to them. I swore it under the full moon they were born on. The moon goddess watching my oath. I couldn’t break it. “I will have a word with Nate before we leave, I think he would contact me if there was any updates.” “I’ll grab Elspeth’s clothes from upstairs and I’ll be in the courtyard.” Reuben POV “What news Nate?” I requested as I sat at my desk, reaching into my drawer for a smoke. I couldn’t get it lit quick enough. Her driving was erratic

Chapter Thirty–Two  Evelyn POV “Sit down!” He unleashes his full aura on to me, as tingles wrap around my hand, the hand his was clasping onto. I was no longer his wife that was chosen to abide by his rules, I was an alpha in my own right and I was his equal. To me the contract was void. I unleash my own aura onto him, making it very clear I would not be ordered around. These were my children, my children! Not his! “Don’t push me Reuben.” I seethe out, pushing my aura further on to him. He feels it for certain, I can tell in his eyes by the flicker of his wolf coming forward. “The way I see it, if I hadn’t of followed you, you would be dead. So sit the fuck down and be grateful.” “Be grateful to you? All this mess is because of you. If you hadn’t of trespassed…if you hadn’t of…. we were fine until you came back into my life.” My anger rising to the point I was struggling to get my words out. Why did he affect me so much, any other alpha and I was the stronger match. My aura grew every time a pack joined my alliance: I take a deep breath in, trying to calm my inner anger. I wouldn’t let it show how much he angered me. His now stormy dark blue eyes remained pinned on me, repeatedly dipping from my eyes to my mouth. “You stole my children from me Evelyn, I could have you strung up and treated like the bitch you are.” His immense power bearing down on me like the monster that he is. Is this is, is this how he snaps? How he switches. Past images flash back into my mind, they died, they died by his hands. I can’t trust him, he’ll kill me and take the children the first chance he got. A growl emits from my chest, my wolf also warning his to back off. His scoffs before we are interrupted by a new scent. “I get it, it’s a love hate relationship right?” An incredibly handsome male chuckles as he leans against the doorframe. “Evelyn this is Alpha Pierce, he escorted us to his hospital.” Reuben closes his eyes with a sigh, rubbing his hands through his blonde hair. “Came to your rescue more like…” “I had everything under control!” Reuben scowls, he didn’t like to show weakness. “Hardly, you were cradling this beautiful female in your arms, I think I even saw tears of panic.” He smirks as he catches my eyes. I like him, he seems to have a way to rattle Reuben and wasn’t scared of him. “Rather dramatic Pierce!” He growls as he fails to keep my eye contact. Was,he worried about me then?  “I was more annoyed I couldn’t kill the bastard.” Reuben clears his throat as he puffs out his chest. This Pierce raises an eyebrow to Reuben, a teasing smirk on his face. “You must be Alpha Evelyn. A pleasure to meet you!” His short black hair with a slight long quiff on the top suited his dark green eyes and deep skin tone. His pearly white teeth provided a smile that I’m certain many a female has lost their senses to. “Thank you for your assistance Alpha Pierce. It’s nice to know there are still some gentlemen out there!” I turn on my charm slightly, letting him take my hand and kiss the back of it. Was I trying to wind Reuben up more, yes absolutely. “Do you mind telling me why you trespassed onto my lands, and then your estranged husband felt the need to follow you in the early hours?” “Yes, I didn’t realise it was pack grounds until I entered. I apologise, but I hoped to be quick and leave before being noticed. I didn’t imagine for a moment I would need to invade on your hospitality.” I place my hand on my heart showing the intensity of my apology. He was lapping it up, Reuben on the other hand was watching me with a permanent scowl it would now seem. “Not at all, I am happy to help. I trust you will join me for dinner?” “Oh that is very kind but I have some important business to attend to, that can’t wait. Perhaps another time when I have more time to afford you. “The pleasure would be mine.” He winks, flashing his pearly white teeth at me. “You aren’t driving by yourself.” He seethes at me, refusing to give me back my car keys. Alpha Pierce had ordered some of his men to recover my car and bring it back to his pack lands. Now that I had my own keys, Reuben was refusing to actually hand them over to me and let me drive…my own car. The level of frustration he creates in me was at an all time level. “Evelyn, you had a nasty bump to the head…” “And I’ve healed. Now give me back my keys…” I growl, finding his complete new need to annoy me in anyway possible irritating beyond belief. He looks at me for a moment before changing his mind. “Fine, but you drive slow and I’m behind you all the way.” He thrusts the keys into my open hand, stepping forward to try and tower over me. But I won’t be intimidated by him. “Oh, what a caring husband you are!” I spit out before pushing past him, my shoulder hitting his upper arm.

Chapter Thirty–One  Reuben POV “So this is the Luna of the Red Stone pack….I thought she was dead?” Alpha Pierce’s eyes narrow at me. “So did I.” He looks at me strangely for a moment, a look that seemed to be trying to read me. Now wasn’t the time to discuss my marital problems with this prick. Evelyn needed help….fast. “She needs a hospital.” I growl, my patience beyond thin at this moment. “Here….hold her in the back. I’ll drive you to my pack hospital.” “Just a human hospital will be fine.” I demand, I didn’t want to enter his inner pack grounds and for him to start using this for political status. “Good idea! How about you tell them she is a werewolf and will heal soon enough…how will you get around that!” His sarcasm pissing me off. “Piss off!” I snarl at him. “I’ll make sure she’s looked after….keys?” He throws his hand behind him, reaching me in the back seat. I was holding on to Evelyn tightly, conscious that another bang to the head might detriment her healing even more. “Fine, take it slow!” I growl as I pass him my keys. “One dent and you are fixing it!” I hated other people driving this car, it was my prized possession. It didn’t take long to reach his pack grounds. He clearly announced our arrival prior to reaching the gates as they were wide open, he must be concerned for Evelyn too. He drives us directly to the hospital where a gurney was already waiting for us, along with doctors and hospital staff: (1) My wolf didn’t want to hand her over at first, to give them control over her body. Things were getting more and more confusing the more time I spent with her. Just the thought of her attacker out there, even hurting Rex was doing things to my head. “What the hell happened?” Pierce asked as his hospital team led her away for assessment. “She got attacked…” “No, I mean…I thought she was dead.” He lowers his voice to me. “You know, the Luna…that you killed her.” “What? Where did you hear that?” Many thought she had died, as had I. But I hadn’t heard that I was apparently responsible for her death. “Pack members gossip, I don’t know…it reached my ears a few years ago.” “No of course not!” I growl at him. “Well obviously not, now that she is alive.” He rolls his eyes at me. “She was at my pack last night and left to meet someone for vital information. He attacked her.” “Did you see his face?” “No, he buggered off before I could see him properly.” I reach for my pocket for a cigarette. I could really do with one right now but I had kept them in my desk drawer to prevent the temptation. “Here..” He passes a packet of cigarettes out, offering me one. I take one and the lighter. Once the cigarette was lit I took a deep drag on it, before breathing out my frustration. “Thanks!” He looks at me again, his head tilting as if not sure if I was being genuine right now. My Alpha King reputation was impressive, I was meant to be ruthless and bad tempered. I liked those rumours. “Come on, I’ll take you to her.” He gestures his hand, leading me to the hospital. “But no smoking inside.” He warns. He leads me to an empty patient room which he says has been assigned for Evelyn already. What was he playing at? He was letting me walk around the hospital, gaining possible information on his pack status. What game was he playing? Maybe he had something to do with Rex disappearance after all. I had to be careful whilst in his pack and keep a close eye on Evelyn. Our feud went back years, since we were young boys. I think it started over a girl…but both being proud pricks it escalated further. Thinking about it, why did he seem to think I had killed Evelyn?  I didn’t have time to dwell on the matter, his doctors had brought her gurney in with her still unconscious. I watch them wire her up to a machine and place tubes into the back of her hand “Alphas, she is healing well. She should wake up soon. Her blood levels are already recovering. I must say she has excellent healing abilities…almost like an…‘ “Alpha!” I finish the doctors sentence.

Chapter Thirty Reuben POV I was struggling to sleep. Just knowing Evelyn and my daughter were in the next rooms kept messing with my mind. It also wasn’t easy having, technically, enemy warriors sleeping in my pack houses. My Alpha King senses were in overload readying to defend against an attack. It would seem Evelyn couldn’t sleep either. I hear her soft footsteps walking down the stairs, no doubt checking on pretty boy. When I came back from my final boundary check, I found him asleep on the kitchen table. I wasn’t going to wake him, to encourage him to go up to bed with Evelyn. This was my pack, my house and she was still my wife. The thought of them having sex next door made me feel sick. After several minutes, I could hear her creep back up the stairs and then carry Elspeth down. Elspeth seemed still deep in sleep judging by her peaceful and steady heartbeat. Why was she taking her downstairs? She was acting anxious, nothing would touch them on my pack…it would be the best night’s sleep they’ve had in a long time. I finally start to drift off to sleep when one of my men on night patrol pushes on my mind–link. “Alpha?” “What’s wrong?” I had asked them to contact me with any strange activity, no matter how trivial it may seem. We had warriors on site that were from another pack, all usual rules were out the window tonight. “Alpha Evelyn has left in a car.” “What?” I sit up right, why would she leave now? “Do you want us to follow her Alpha?” My man asks. “No, leave it to me!” I command before cutting the link and leaping out of bed. I head downstairs to find Noah asleep at the kitchen table with little feet stretched out on his lap.– As I enter the room more I see Elspeth laying across two chairs, strategically placed so that the first one to wake will automatically wake the other! For the first time I can see the child properly. She was always hiding her face behind that large bunny teddy, or being carried by Noah or Evelyn. Seeing her truly for the first time, now knowing what she was to me. She was then most beautiful creature that had ever walked on this planet. Her white blonde hair partly covered her face…sticking to her as she snored gently. Her eyes were shut but she also had the same eyes as Evelyn. Evelyn wouldn’t know this but she had the same nose and mouth as my mother, a cute little button nose. But, just like her mother, I had the feeling Elspeth would push my limits. It angered my wolf that she called Noah daddy. I found myself growing more jealous by the hour of their closeness, a bond that Evelyn chose to take from me. The front door opens gently and Cassandra walks into the kitchen, gasping when she finds me in the dark. “Alpha….” “Where did she go?” I growl annoyed that Cassandra had assisted her. “She found an email, it said to come alone.” “Where’s the email?” “On the laptop!” She points at the laptop that had been closed but when I opened it, it was only on power save mode. Damn, it was password protected. “Noah?” I grunt, pushing his shoulder. “Hhmm!” He moans, the prick. “Wake up.” I slap the top of his head, that ought to do it. He springs into action, openings his eyes and putting his glasses on. “What’s the password?” I say as I grab the laptop and sit down on a chair. “Like I’d tell you!” He scoffs, finally looking down to see Elspeth asleep across him. He looks up at me and then Cassandra, concern in his eyes. “She’s gone. There was an email, to come alone….” Cassandra states looking down at the child across his lap. Her expression was odd, I couldn’t quite make it out. “Gone where?” He growls at her.
