Chapter 30  Brittany looked totally uninterested, barely glimpsing at the view. Nice” she muttered.  She started the car and drove off slowly  Hannah was speechless. Was it too much to ask for Brittany to at least look?  Just then, a black Rolls–Royce Phantom came into view  in the driver’s seat.  Nathan noticed Brittany’s car and instinctively turned to Isaac. “Mr. Salter, that’s Ms. Dustin’s car  Isaac paused, fingers still on the papers he was reviewing. He guessed Brittany was there for Hannah.  Then the atmosphere turned frosty  “Got nothing better to do?”  Chils ran down Nathan’s spine. What was going on? Didn’t Mr. Salter used to be really concerned about Ms. Dustin? He used to rush off to see her after work. Now that she was here, why wasn’t he saying hello?  Back to Radiant Residences”  Isaac wasn’t in the mood to return home.  Nathan guessed they might have had a fight. He cleared his throat, “Sure,”  Having no experience with love, he decided to keep his mouth shut.  This was Isaac’s first time returning to Radiant Residences since he had moved out  He was used to living alone. The house was cleaned weekly meals were prepared, and the staff would leave.  The spacious Radiant Residences shone briliantly in the night sky sitting atop the water’s edge.  Upon opening the door, cold air greeted him. His grip bightened on the doorknob as if waiting or confirming something  There were no ingredients in the fridge. Isaac called the housekeeper, then went upstars to freshen up  When he came downstars, the housekeeper had arranged for dinner to be prepared. Mr. Salter, and you be staying at Radiant Residences for a while?”  “Perhaps  The housekeeper seemed to understand. “Alright, dinner is ready. Please rest early after you’ve had your meal”  After the housekeeper left, Isaac sat down at the dining table. Despite the feast before him, he had no appetite. The professionally cooked meals couldnt compare to the ones Brittany made.  Brittany and Hannah reached their new neighborhood. They met with the agent, learned about the surroundings, and then checked out the rental apartment.  It was just like the photos. A one bedroom apartment, small but fully equipped.  The rent was lower than expected as the landlord was in a hurry to lease it. After signing the contract, Brittany watched her bank balance dwindle, and she still had to split the rent with base  After seeing off the agent, Hannah took Brittany to a nearby restaurant. They had a full meal before heading their separate ways  Brittany pushed open the door to a dark house. Isaac wasn’t home, which was a relief. She wouldn’t have to face any awkwardness.  She took out her surcases and packed all her belongings. She had quite a bit of stuff, filling up three suitcases.  After packing, she sat in the living room to check her bits. Living here meant not only paying rent, but also other expenses. She had used some of the money Isaac had given her before and needed to account for E  Brittany stayed up late finishing her calculations. In just half a month, their food expenses had exceeded three thousand. On average, they had each spent over a thousand. Brittany’s money was dwindling again  Her reputation was ruined and her relationship with VelvetGlow was beyond repair  She doubted she would find work in this field again.  Enttany, busy wither accounts, was interrupted by the doorbell. She pretended not to hear and continued her calculations.  Isaac saw the pitcases in the living room. He glanced at Brittany who was standing up  Tve left the card you gave me on the coffee table F’re calculated the rent and living expenses for this period, and transfer it to you later.”  Brittany took the intiative. I found a new pla I’m moving out tomorow morning. Thanks for your help during this time.”  She felt a bit sad. There were moments when she could feel isaac’s concern for her. But maybe that was just her imagination.  After saying this, Brittany didn’t look at Isaac and went straight back to her room.  Isaac kicked the sutcases aside and walked to the coffee table. There was a piece of paper with a lot of writing on it. It was probably from Brittany. 

Chapter 29  Sydney was barking orders at two co–workers. They exchanged glances, both finding Sydney’s behavior a bit much, but neither dared to stand up to her.  “Sorry”  They meticulously checked through all of Brittany’s belongings to ensure there were no Important documents. Looking at Brittany with her red–rimmed eyes, they felt as if they had done something wrong. They had even lost the mood to enjoy a goce drama  “Are you satafied now?  Brittany’s eyes were red and swollen, her voice choked up, and her colleagues couldn’t help but feel for her.  Sydney, satisfied said. “Brittany, if you still want to contrue in this industry it’s best not to cross me. Otherwise, you’ll have a tough time”  Brittany packed her things and left VelvetGlow Jewellery, leaving her colleagues exchanging glances.  Despite Brittany’s past record of plagiarism, she had taken on two major projects just hall a month after joining VelvetGlow Jewellery, praying her capabilities.  To some extent they not only despised Brittany but were also jealous  Frank’s constant targeting was clear in them. They dared not resist, but inwardly they were not happy. After all, as designers, who would accept seeing their hard–earned designs credited to someone else?  After leaving Velvet Slow, Brittany received a notification from the bank, Her salary for this month had been paid out. Frank apparently didn’t want to take the matter to coun, sa he acted quickly  Brittany put her things in the car sat in the driver’s seat and rubbed her temples, suddenly feeling bored  Work was not going well. Life was not going well. Even the little warmth she was looking forward to couldnt be retained.  She leaned on the steering wheel, sobbing quietly. After a while she dried her tears and drove to Grande Capital  Upon arriving. Brittany sat in the car waiting for Hannah Al eight oclack in the inning, Hannah finished work and got into the car, exhausted. “Sorry for making you wait, Bn.”  “Our big hess must be out of his mind. He held a meeting for ever so hours today. I’m exhausted.”  Hannah buckled her seatbelt turned her head and noticed Brittany’s red and swollen eyes. Clearly, she had been crying  “What happened“”  Britany strugged it off with a laugh. “Nothing much. I quit my job”  “Why?” Hanrah rolled up her skeves. “Did Sydney bully you?”  What’s up with that Sydney? Why is she always picking on Brittany?  “No, I just didn’t want to do it anymore” Botany didn’t want Hannah to get into trouble with Sydney ‘I want to take a break and re evaluate my life”  Hannah grated her teeth and decided to have a word with Sydney privately She needed to know that Brittany was not someone she could push around!  “Alright, let’s go check out the apartment”  Hannah changed the subject, “Don’t you live with your husband? Why are you moving!”  Brittany’s expression darkened. “We’re only married for show. Living together is too inconvenient.”  She didn’t know what she did wrong. In just one night, Isaac’s attitude had changed! Since he had clearly indicated for her to leave, there was no point in her staying at his place  Hannah wanted to amend what she thought she had aard, but she immediately realized something  Isaac and Nathan came down the stairs together, seemingly discussing something. Isaac’s eyebrows were slightly furrowed: he obviously wasnt satisfied with the current situation.  a few more words.  A black car was parked downstairs. Nathan opened the door and Isaac got in after saying fe  Hannah had seen Isaac before, but his looks still amazed her. Even in the entertainment industry, he was top–notch  “Look, there’s our big boss. Look quick-  Hannah excred grabbed Brittany’s hand, pointing towards Isaac, her eyes sparkling. 

Chapter 28  Brittany walked into Velvetlom Jewellery with her latest designs under her arm. After Frank galben – he gave her and and sent her on her way Looked ike he was pretty chuffed with her work.  Later, back at her desk, Brittany fired up her computer and started browsing an apartment rental website. Isaac’s two bedroom apartment was a bit rough around the edges but in was located on the hinges of the prime district, so it wasn’t exactly a steal  She had her eyes on a studio apartment but the prices skyrocketed once you got anywhere near the city center. She eventually settled on a property close to Velvetlow Jewellery it was a bit dated but it was conveniently located and the decor was right up her street.  Once she made up her mind, Brittany set up an apartment yewing for Hannah after work.  One of Barry colleagues spotted her scrolling through the re–tal site and asked, surprised, “Britiary, you’re moving out?”  Brittany replied, “Yep ”  “That’s a dicel Bork”  The colleague who spoke was always friendly with clary keeping her mouth shut when everyone else was busy brown–ensing Sydney  She kept a low profile but Brittany suspected the came from money hence sily she never sucked up to Sydney  Upon hearing that Brittany was moving, Sydney’s first thought was–has Brittany finally been kicked out?  Isaac wasn’t a mug, he couldn’t possibly marry a copycat!  Sydney strutted into Frank’s office and when she came out, she shot Brittany smugglance.  Aher Lunch Brdlary was called into Frank’s office.  “The client loved your drugs and has doubled the commission Frank poured her a cup of tea, lis demean melius, “Just like last time. Sydney will be credited for the work”  Brittany euldn’t believe her ears. You sad last time was the last time, that would happen agar  The coleaguers outside the office, hearing the commation, threw curious glances thrit was  Frank slammed his hand on the table. Brittany, in the Deputy Director, and I call the shots here. Don’t bite the hand that feeds your  Even if Brittany had ta ett, he would always pive Sydney the credit, what could Brittany do?  Brittany snortec, br the hand that fed her?  “What’s so funny? Britany, everyone in our industry knows you’re a habitual copycat, VelvetGlow Jewellery gant you a chance to shine and you should be grateful if clients found out a copycat designed their jewellery, well lose business. Who’s going to cover that lose?  Frank tried to manipulate Botany into thinking that even being allowed to design at VelvetGlow Lewelery was a blessing. She shouldn’t be asking for credit, and she should be thanking them for the opportunity!  “Bullshit!” Brittany snapped back. Thanks for geng me the opportunity to design to be Sydneys donima! *  “Well now, I’m telling you ! quit  Brittany threw the documents in her hand at Frack’s face, her eyes burning withrage “I have never copied anyone work and I wont be used! Pay salary for the month or I see you in court.”  She was sick ‘Frank’s constant scheming and steaing her cred!!  VelvetGlow welery was the design company she dreamt of working at in college, but now, she saw through its teeth. It wasn’t as great as she had imagined.  Frank, infunated by her words, snapped back, “Fine, let’s see how you survive without Webwiglow.jewellery, and who would want a copycat like your Brittany opened the office door gathered her things, and prepared to leave.  “Hold on.”  Sydney blocked her path, regeling out to inspect her belongings. “Brittany, since you’re leaving we should check your things. We wouldn’t want you t take any important documents, causing the company a loss, would we?”  Brittany felt a slap the face She knew Sydney was trying to make trouble  “Sydney, dont púch in  “So what if I pick on you? Sydney threatened, her voice law Britany, don’t forget, I know where your grandma is buried.”  She was implying she would desecrate her grandmother’s grave if Brittany didn’t do as she was told  Brittany frore, her eyes welling up with tears.  “Can I get some help here? Sydney called their colleagues. 

She felt as light as a feather, practically weightless,”  Chapter 27  faint hint of fragrance about her.  Her room, a place he seldom ventured into, was now Brittany’s domain  The once–cold room was now brimming with the charming essence of femininity, filled with her personal belongings even a massive pale pink body pillow on the bed.  He peeled back the covers and gently laid Brittany down.  Her skin was smooth as silk. As he released his hold, she clung tightly to his hand, her lips faintly moving as if to say something  Frowning tightly, he leaned in closer to hear what she was murmuring, but to his surprise, as she shifted her position, their lips accidentally met.  In that moment, a wave of intense emotion surged through him,  Isaac’s eyes widened. He’d had physical contact with Brittany before.  But back then, they were both unconscion  He’d never kissed Brittany and had never even thought about it.  Yet here it was a touch as light as a cherry blossom, a kis devoid of passion that still managed to leave a profound impression on his heart.  Lowering his gaze, he looked at the woman before him.  She was frowning, seemingly uncomfortable, and attempting to pull away.  Almost instinctively and without giving it a second thought, he grabbed the back of her head, halting her retreat, and countered with a kiss of his own. An  Infamiliar emotion seemed to invade his soul.  By the time he came to his senses, reaking he’d lost control, her cheeks were flushed and her brows furrowed in discomfort.  Releasing his hold he took a few ragged breaths.  Looking at the sleeping Brittany he was filled with an urge to possess her.  Taking a few steps back, he tucked her in before quickly exting  Retreating to his own toom Isaac leaned against the dont his heart pounding wildly in his chest  A voice echoed in his mind, urging him to push things further  Perhaps because they’d had physical contact before  He had an inexplicable desire for her. This was not a good sign  Isaac was acutely aware more than anyone else, that emotions could drive even the most rational person to the brink of insanity.  He shouldn’t be feeling this way, especially not towards Brittany  Raising his hand, he began contemplating how to handle this situation.  Unny woke up at four in the monning  She was oblivious to what had happened last night  After freshening up, she continued to work on her designs, finally finishing them all by six thirty  Just as she was out to start making breakfast, the door swung open.  Isaac appeared, his expression turning colder at the sight of her up and about, the memory of last night flashing in his mind.  “Good morning Zakky”  Brittany, realizing she’d fallen asleep without having dinner the previous night, felt a pang of quilt: “What would you like for breakfast?”  Isaac met her gaze, his thin lips moving slightly. “You don’t need to prepare meals for me anymore!  Britany was puzzled by his unusual behavior; her gaze faltered. “What happened?”  Did she do something wrong last night? Why did Isaac seem upset?  “Nothing I just tynk we should keep some distance  Headed too much emotionally in Brittany. It seemed like ever since the incident where he’d injured her waist, their relationship had become strained after he’d treated her, entering a strange period of peace. This wasn’t good.  Upon hearing his words, Brittany was taken aback. Had she really done something wrong? –  She wanted to ach for clarification, but then realized she had no right to.  His intl offer to take her in was only due to their past acquaintance.  Finally, Brittany said bluntly, 11l be getting paid this monill move out. Thanks for taking me in all this while.”  He was night; they needed to  Limg under
