Chapter 233  In her dream, she was back to her childhood Feeling under the weather, her mom took her to the hospital.  While receiving intravenous treatment, her mother inquired if she was feeling hungry She mentioned that she would go out to get her some food and return shortly.  Standing at the ward door, her mom turned back, her eyes seemingly welled up with tears.  However, in the dream, her mom’s face had become blurry, she just couldn’t get a clear look at it, no matter what.  Then, Arnold came to the hospital and told her, “I’m your dad. From now on, remember that we share the same last name, got it? Let’s head home”  Back then, she was just a kid, not knowing if her previous last name came from her mom.  All she remembered was her mom always gently calling her “Lunar“; her nickname was Lunar. The day she learned her last name, she became Lunar Mendoza.  Afterward, she was sent to a monastery where a person named Karan thought that the name Lunar sounded like a solitary moon in the dark, too sad for a child.  So, Karan renamed her Ellinor, hoping her future life wouldn’t be so lonely.  From then on, she was always called Ellinor.  And Karan was the only warmth in her abandoned childhood  The dream was like an endless maze, with no exits to be found, no matter how hard she tried to run away.  In the maze, she sometimes saw Karan’s shadow. Karan told her, “Ellinor, be careful on your own in Greenhaven; don’t trust people easily, especially men.”  Sometimes she saw her mom’s shadow, her mom smiling at her, all gentleness, “Lunar, mommy’s going to grab you a snack and will be right back…”  She could see them but couldn’t touch them.  Koran’s shadow disappeared, and her mom’s shadow turned and left.  She panicked, following her mom closely, wanting to go with her. But just as she was about to touch her mom, she suddenly fell into a dried-up well.  Looking up, someone had blocked the well with a rock.  Soon, the bottom of the well was pitch black, her cries for help couldn’t reach out.  Worse yet, water started to gush out from the bottom of the well, and the water level kept rising until it drowned her, she tried to escape by grasping the well wall, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t climb up  Ellinor woke up with a start. Everything was quiet in the room, nothing happened.  It was just a dream!  Before Ellinor could relax, she could taste tobacco in her mouth…  This was odd because she never smoked, why would a cigarette taste be in her mouth?  Ellinor frowned, realizing two rough fingers were pinching her chin, her lips lightly bitten. With the moonlight pouring in from the window, she could finally see the man’s face right before her, it was Theo!  Was this man secretly kissing her?t 

Chapter 232  Ellinor whispered, “I don’t.”  They locked eyes.  Suddenly, the man turned his head away and coughed twice!  Ellinor stiffened slightly. “Theo, are you coming down with a cold?”  Theo waved it off with a poker face, “I’m fine  Ellinor took his pulse, and her brow furrowed.  It was damp and cold in the valley today. Theo gave her his coat, plus he had rested in a cave, it would be strange if he didn’t catch a cold!  “Theo, you might have caught a chill You should pile on some blankets when you sleep tonight, a good sweat could do the trick”  “You know traditional medicine?” Theo curiously looked at Ellinor, recalling the last time she knew he had food poisoning simply by feeling his pulse when he accidentally ate Sheila Mendoza’s poisonous dish.  Ellinor nodded, “A little.”  Theo asked, “Did you study it?”  Ellinor shook her head, “Not exactly I grew up in a monastery, and there happened to be a nun who knew some traditional medicine. She often helped people solve various medical problems, and I learned a bit from watching her.”  “A monastery? The man’s brow furrowed, “Why were you living there when you were so young?”  “Because of my father..” Ellinor started but suddenly stopped.  She suddenly remembered when Chase Larios discovered she wasn’t Arnold Mendoza’s biological child, she couldn’t bring herself to say the word ‘father“.  “Because my stepmother didn’t want me, she sent me to live with relatives in the countryside. My cousins didn’t like me, so they sant me to other relatives. I was constantly abandoned, and no one would take me in. Ultimately, they decided to donate some money to the monastery and leave me there, so I grew up in that monastery in the village.”  Listening to her talk calmly about her difficult childhood. Theo felt a heaviness in his heart, his brow furrowing deeper  He reached out, stroking her hair, “You won’t be tossed around anymore.”  Ellinor had long since stopped caring. “Yeah! Now I’m grown up, I don’t need anyone to take me in; who can abandon me now!”  Theo rubbed his forehead, thinking…  Ellinor, sometimes you don’t know how to chat.  “Theo, you keep busy, I’m going for a walk” With that, Ellinor strode off alone; she was bored and wanted to see that brown bear….  “Don’t go anywhere. Go back to bed Theo’s voice was deep and stern.  At the same time, Ellinor was grabbed by the back of the neck and hauled back to the suite.  Belinda and Byran were gone when they arrived back at the suite, probably out somewhere.  After locking the door to keep intruders out. Theo took a bath.  Ellinor hit the hay first. She had to pretend to be Theo’s wife, they couldn’t sleep in separate rooms, so she claimed the bed and left the couch for him!  After a full day of running around, she drifted off to dreamland when she hit the sack.  She had a very long dream.

I was wrong, and I won’t do it again. Please, for the sake of our friendship, don’t pull out your investment.”  “Do you really think I’d still consider you a friend after you played around with my wife’s safety, Haillie?”  “Theo, are you really going to cut ties with me because of Ellinor? We’ve known each other for so many years.”  With a burning cigarette between his fingers. Theo flicked off the ash indifferently, “Haillie, you better pray my wife’s okay. If she feels anything wrong today, you and your family will pay a much heavier price than the withdrawal of my investment”  Haillie was frozen in place  She had never seen Theo act so coldly towards her or any of their friends.  The way he addressed her as “Haillie” felt distant. It wasn’t how friends would address each other.  Theo was really pissedi  Haillie was in a panic, “Theo, we’ve known each other for so long: don’t be like this…”  Theo had said all he needed to say. He didn’t say anything more to Haillie but put out his cigarette and walked towards the door, leaving the suite.  Even though this was Byran’s suite, Byran had already left. He didn’t want to stay there for too long to avoid any misunderstandings, given the fact that they were alone. Watching Theo leave, Haillie felt completely hopeless.  She knew Theo was a man of his word. The withdrawal of his investment was inevitable.  But there was one thing she just couldn’t stomach!  Thinking of this, Haillie clenched her teeth and yelled out to Theo’s retreating figure, “Theo, wait! I have something else to say!”  Theo didn’t stop.  Seeing this, Haillie had no choice but to run up and block Theo’s path, demanding excitedly,  “Theo, I just want to ask you one more thing! Have you forgotten your promise to the Howard family and Patricia? Or are you just like every other man, always chasing after  someone new?”

Chapter 228  The door swung open Standing there, in all his grim seriousness, was Byran.  Belinda’s brows furrowed the moment she saw him “Byran, what are you doing here?  “I’m here to see Ellinor”  “And why would you want to see her? You and Haillie are two peas in a pod. You’re not welcome here!”  With a furious glance at her Byran retorted, “Move aside, I’m not here for you”  Pushing Belinda away he barged into the suite. Seeing Ellinor’s arm wrapped in bandages, he sighed in frustration Ellinor, I heard you got bitten by a snake?”  Lounging lazily in her chair, legs crossed, Ellinor replied, “Mhm, I did.”  Looking somewhat uncomfortable, Byran asked, “Are you okay?”  With a playful kick in the air and a smirk, Ellinor replied, “I’m fine, the snake wasn’t venomous. You must be disappointed, huh?”  Byran frowned, “Ellinor, I’m not as bad as you think. I just wanted you to stay away from Theo I didn’t want anything bad to happen to you!”  Belinda stepped in to interrogate him, “Byran, you’re such a piece of work! Who do you think you are to ask her to stay away from Theo? They’re married! It’s none of your  business!  Byran was fuming. “Ugh! Get lost; I’m not arguing with you!”  Belinda shot back angrily “Who are you calling a fool? You’re the fool here!”  And so the argument began….  These two seemed to lock horns every time they met. Ellinor rubbed her temples in exasperation.  After a lengthy argument, Byran couldn’t beat Belinda and left her with a “I’m not arguing with you!” He turned to Ellinor and asked seriously “Ellinor, can I ask you for a  favor?”  Ellinor was quite surprised, “Wow, Mr. Howard, you need a favor from me? That’s a first.”  Byran seemed to struggle to voice his request. “Theo is really mad about today’s Incident. He’s planning on pulling out his investment from Haillie’s family business. The Knotts haven’t been doing well recently, and if the finances dry up now, they’re definitely going to go under. So, I was wondering… Could you maybe talk to Theo? Give Haillie another chance to make things right?”  Ellinor was silent for a moment, deep in thought.  Theo was really getting serious about Haillie?  Seeing Ellinor’s hesitation, Byran added, “Haillie is my sister’s best friend. Despite what she did today, she did it for my sister’s sake. I can’t just stand by and do nothing…”  Ellinor looked at Byran calmly. ‘I’m sorry, but you’ve got the wrong person. You should be asking your sister to talk to Theo, not me, the victim”  Byran’s brows furrowed in anxiety  “I can’t ask my sister! She’s too kind hearted. If she found out what Haillie did for her, she’d be devastated and blame herself! Plus, my sister isn’t well. I’m worried that all the worry and anxiety will keep her up at night.”  Ellinor couldn’t help but feel a little moved as she watched Byran’s concern for his sister.  Such a strong sibling bond was truly rare.  Patricia, who held such an important place in Theo’s heart and was cared for so deeply by her brother, was indeed special. He was so protective of her that he couldn’t bear the thought of her losing sleep over something Even her best friend, Haillie, was willing to hurt others just to help her resolve a romantic rivalry
