Love’s New Bloom By Simone Hastings Chapter 147
Chapter 147 Not Sisters Anymore Erin felt a faint sense of joy upon hearing her mother scold her aunt. She was afraid that Cherry wouldn’t react to anything at all. Her being furious showed that there was still some hope for things to turn around. Seeing her sister finally saying something, Charlotte’s face also lit up. “You’re right! I deserve to be reprimanded harshly. I was foolish for doing something so disgraceful! But, my dear sister, please! Please don’t take your own life so carelessly! If you really die, my conscience will never find peace in this lifetime.” Erin frowned as she looked at the sobbing Charlotte, feeling disdainful in her heart. Charlotte seemed decent on the surface, and Erin hadn’t heard of her being involved with any men during the years of her widowhood. But now, she suddenly had an affair with her brother- in–law. It instantly diminished her character and moral integrity. She couldn’t help but feel a sense of contempt for her aunt, who was also an elder in her family and was supposed to be a role model. Moreover, Charlotte had truly hurt Cherry and indirectly harmed her and Gavin. “Charlotte, you have no conscience! Who helped you find a job when you were laid off recently? When you found it too tiring and didn’t want to work, I let you help out at my mart and paid you a monthly salary of three thousand dollars. That isn’t a small amount in Southwrok County! But you go and sleep with my man? Have you no shame, you ungrateful wench?” Cherry started scolding Charlotte with her eyes all swollen and red. She remembered last night when she went to deliver supper and saw Grayson and Charlotte bumping uglies in the storage room. It made her sick. At that time, Charlotte and Grayson had only taken off their pants, and they humped away like two mating dogs lying on a makeshift bed made of cardboard boxes. Cherry was so angered that she turned and left. After she returned home, the more she thought about it, the angrier she became. Thinking. about her husband’s and her own sister’s betrayal, Cherry impulsively swallowed half a bottle of sleeping pills. Hearing her elder sister’s accusations, Charlotte felt extremely uncomfortable. But the thought, of Cherry resorting to suicide frightened her. She was genuinely afraid that if something happened to Cherry, the situation would escalate, and she and Grayson would be caught. At this moment, even if Cherry threw something at her face, she would endure it. Charlotte lowered her head and cried pitifully. “Please scold me as much as you want. As long as you feel relieved in your heart, I won’t have any complaints. It’s my fault-” As she cried, she continued to berate Grayson, calling him a coward. Until now, he was nowhere to be seen. He left Charlotte to shoulder all the blame herself. Erin coldly observed as her mother scolded her aunt. She felt a bit powerless in this situation. Moreover, she believed that it was better for her mother to vent her grievances and anger instead of keeping them bottled up, as it would only suffocate her. Cherry carried on berating Charlotte for more than twenty minutes, but her words weren’t too harsh. After all, she and Charlotte […]
